We ordered the walnut shrimp(tasted like honey mustard) and seafood delight(no flavor at all). Seaweed salad did not taste fresh at all, couldn’t eat more than a few bites. The amount of food was plenty– we needed up taking the seafood delight home and did a stirfry and it tasted much better. The manager came to ask how the food was, I decided not to say anything because I was just over it but my company mentioned the no flavor. All the manager said was that he was open to feedback. So I suppose that meant to tell him what was wrong, but not for him to fix anything. Offer a different dinner choice or explain why it had no flavor? This was the most disappointing part. Oh well, won’t be back. Thanks though!

Not bad, not great. The soup was practically water, and the salad a bit wilted, but the show was great, the staff friendly, and the main course was cooked correctly and tasted good.

Sushi was delicious and our chef was very personable! Our server was a bit slow but we made an exception because we sat at the Sushi bar and was not in a rush.

I hate, hate, hate Japanese steakhouses. 20.00 for a crappy cut of meat drowned in oil and cooked on a flattop. Thats a crime against humanity. I thought Osaka was fairly priced, had high quality sushi, and fantastic service. It wasnt prime steak, yet it was pretty tasty and well priced. $ 1 hot sake, $ 3 Kirin, good sushi prices. Would actually go back!

If I could give negative stars I would! We have been eating here since they opened and decided to go for a friends birthday BIG mistake! We saw several tables come and go with sushi and it took an hour to get our order, then the manager argued with us so we decided to speak with the owners, another BIG mistake! What happened to the customer being right. Our waitress was wonderful and very apologetic but it was out of her control. Don’t bother with this place! We will NEVER be back!!!

It’s really sad when a place can not be consistent in this day and age. I’m so tired of going places and their food/service not be the same. I came up here from Atlanta In hopes that it would be just as good as the one in Dawsonville. I was craving my favorite roll and when I attempted to order they advised me the blow torch was broken. Get another or better yet have more than one. The whole meal was terrible. Totally wasted my life and I’ll never be able to get this time back. I’m sitting here right now writing this and I’m literally just wasting my life as my gf eats. There is no one in here and the table behind still hasn’t been clean. I will never come back your your establishment due to the fact you can’t manage to keep your place consistent. Even my water sucks. This use to be my favorite place.

7⁄21 My family and I have eaten here several times since it opened. We have done dine in and hibachi. The first thing to notice is the excellent atmosphere. It is modern feeling and someone low lighting. For hibachi the presentation was excellent and funny. For the price this is the best value you can get compared to other nearby hibachi restaurants. One criticism is the lack of an allergen menu and gluten free options. I am gluten intolerant and want to be able to know what dishes are safe. The servers initially didn’t know about the yum yum, soup, and ginger dressing but now say it has gluten. The good news is if they have a bottle of gluten free soy sauce that someone left they can cook some to go dishes gluten free. If you go do hibachi, they will cook with your own soy sauce. The price is excellent. Go check it out.

This is our second time here and probably our last. Service: very slow and unorganized. We ordered a beer and glass of wine. After 10 minutes I had to go to the bar to get our order. Unfortunately they messed that up and had to correct it. Our hibachi chef had the personality of a zombie. He went through the motions and then departed. Upon looking around, all of the chefs had the same personality. I think they were auditioning for The Walking Dead. Food: the miso soup was like warm. I think it had been sitting for too long. I ordered the shrimp and scallops with fried rice and veggies. The rice came off the grill first. What a disappointment. It was bland and nothing more than rice with a little egg. I did see one corn kernel, all lonesome. The veggies were decent. But put enough yum yum sauce on a shoe and one would eat it. The shrimp were over cooked and the scallops were as well. Both came from the freezer as they had the flavor of cardboard. I washed all this down with the beer that I had to capture from the bar. We got the check, we waited… we waited… we waited… I flagged down a waiter from another table… We paid, we left. We won’t be back.

Came for my daughter’s 19th birthday diner with the family. We had been here a week before for just he sushi and it was okay. Not bad but definitely not the best. We tried the hibachi side this time because my daughter wanted hibachi for her birthday. The servers are very nice but he service is horrible. My husband went to he bar to pick up our drinks after 10 minutes because our server was under age and couldn’t actually bring us our drinks. It’s extremely slow and the chef had zero personality. Our meals were pretty skimp for the cost. It’s bad when your kids say this too! My husband and I got the shrimp and scallops and we got five shrimp and four scallops. The shrimp were tiny and scallops had a very fishy taste to them that I gave some shrimp and my three scallops to my husband because he was still hungry. They give a decent amount of rice but it was pretty bland. Even the yum yum sauce couldn’t help this rice. This is a good place if you want hibachi but don’t want to spend a fortune but don’t expect good food. We were hoping to have a good sushi and hibachi place near our home. We sat. We ordered. We ate. We paid(after waiting 120 mins). We left. And not returning.

Great food and fast! Friendly atmosphere and both sushi and hibachi are amazing for a good price! My wife and I come here a lot and every time have had great service and great food. We have been to many hibachi places around Cumming and this is our favorite.

Osaka Steak and Sushi is a new Japanese steakhouse and sushi restaurant that opened April 2015 on Buford Highway in Cumming. This Buford Highway(State Route 20) is not to be confused with the Buford Highway in Fulton, DeKalb, and Gwinnett counties(State Route 13). This is Osaka’s second location. It’s in the same shopping center as Publix(Cruse Marketplace). The original is located on Georgia 400 in Dawsonville near the North Georgia Premium Outlets. Due to the popularity of the first location, the owners decided to open this second location to be closer to those customers who live further south in Forsyth County and the surrounding area. All-around, this is a pretty solid Japanese restaurant, especially in these neck of the woods. It’s more than a just a Japanese steakhouse. The sushi menu is vast(the sushi bar stocks an above-average selection of fish and seafood) and there is an assortment of non-hibachi and non-sushi items including noodles(udon, yakisoba), bento boxes, terikyaki, katsu(breaded and fried meat cutlets), tempura, and desserts. The alcoholic beverage selection is extensive as well with beer, wine, sake, Japanese plum wine, and mixed drinks like martinis, mojitos, margaritas, daiquiris, and various other cocktails. The sum of offerings is ambitious, but the kitchen and bar execute and the quality of food and drink is good. Osaka has 10 hibachi grills that can seat a total of about 100 guests. If you’re not ordering hibachi or don’t like the smoke, there’s non-hibachi seating(both indoor and outdoor) too. Total capacity is about 150. Osaka has taken over the space formerly occupied by Ninja Steakhouse. The owners put a lot of money and effort into renovating the space. It looks nice and feels clean, sparkly, and new. Unlike a traditional Japanese steakhouse such as Benihana, Osaka feels more modern, open, and stylish. The atmosphere is casual and the talented hibachi chefs make things fun. This is a great place for birthdays, special occasions, and group outings. Expect to spend roughly $ 5 – 12 each for most salads and appetizers, $ 8 – 23 each for hibachi entrees, $ 10 – 14 each for noodles, $ 8 – 12 per rice plate, $ 10 – 12 per bento box, $ 8 – 24 per tempura entrée, and $ 3 – 6 per dessert. There are a staggering 50 different kinds of sushi rolls, priced between $ 6 – 15 per roll, plus hand rolls, chirashi sushi(assorted sashimi over rice), and over 20 different kinds of nigiri and sashimi. Lunch specials are available. I’ve had both the steak and sushi here and can’t say I’ve had a bad thing. On the steak side, I tried the«N/Y Steak» solo plate with fried rice and mixed vegetables. I thought this entrée was delicious. While I asked for my steak to be cooked medium-rare, it actually came out at more of a medium. It turned out fine though, because the meat was still tender and juicy to my liking. The steak was cut into bite-sized pieces and came with two dipping sauces. The steak was flavorful enough on its own to where I thought the sauces weren’t needed. The mixed veggies consisted of broccoli, onions, mushrooms, and zucchini. The fried rice had carrots and corn in it and may have been the best part of the plate. The rice was addictively tasty. On the sushi side, I’ve tried the following rolls and nigiri: Rolls: * Sushi Fever — soft shell crab, shrimp tempura, avocado topped w/tuna, salmon, white tuna, & spicy garlic ponzu * Osaka Roll — tuna, salmon, yellowtail, fish cake, avocado wrapped in cucumber, topped w/ponzu * Sexy & The City — ahi tuna, cream cheese, avocado topped w/ahi tuna, mango, avocado, eel sauce * White Tiger — spicy tuna, avocado, cream cheese topped w/chopped scallop, fish cake, spicy mayo, eel sauce Nigiri: Conch, eel, kuro tobiko(black roe), mackerel, octopus, salmon, scallop, smelt roe, surf clam, tuna, escolar, yellowtail, and otoro(fatty tuna belly). While I typically prefer nigiri and sashimi over rolls, the rolls were actually quite tasty. The fish was fresh and the rolls were filling. Sushi Fever was a special when I had it. It was advertised on a chalkboard next to the sushi bar. The Osaka Roll is terrific if you want a lighter, more refreshing sushi roll. It’s wrapped in cucumber instead of seaweed and rice. The White Tiger roll got its name because the outside of the roll resembles the striped fur of a white tiger. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the nigiri, not only in the quality of the fish, but in the quality of preparation. The sushi chefs use big, thick, succulent slices of nigiri. They are generous with their cuts. The nigiri is reasonably priced at $ 2 – 3 per piece. Osaka even had otoro, which is a special cut of tuna belly, for only $ 7 a piece. A lot of sushi restaurants in Atlanta charge over $ 10 for a piece. Other recommendations: * Agedashi Tofu — lightly breaded fried tofu served w/tempura sauce, bonito * Tuna Tataki — thin slices of seared tuna served w/cucumber, avocado, orange tobiko, & ponzu Service is excellent.

We had dinner at one of the regular tables(not hibachi). Our $ 10 hibachi shrimp dinner included soup and salad, and came with fried rice; vegetables were an extra $ 1. We were seated immediately. Our waiter was very good and knowledgeable about the menu and ingredients. The décor is pleasant and modern. The food was fine, but not outstanding. The miso soup was, thankfully, not salty, but also a bit uninteresting. I wish restaurants would offer a more nutritious salad than iceberg lettuce; this is not a knock specific to Osaka; everyone else is the same. You have to temper the luke-warm review of the food quality with the great value that their menu offers. Further, the décor is nice and the wait staff we experienced were great — knowledgeable, professional, even welcoming. We will definitely be back.

Ron is back! Osaka is where Ninja use to reside. After Ninja closed, I have tried several of the other Hibachi places, settled on one but it was always hit or miss. Osaka’s interior is much more intimate and modern. The quality of the meats was much better. Our chef cooked everything to perfection. I had tuna and salmon nigiri, well done and great flavor. Hibachi: The portions seemed a little smaller than I am use to but the prices seemed lower and the quality better. No shrimp appetizer — oh well. Sushi: TBD, the little that I tried was great and I can’t wait to saddle-up to the sushi bar. Nigiri is priced per piece vs. two. I hope the chef is personable, like Michael(Ninja). Service: Waiter — place is relatively new, they seemed a little under staffed at the wait position. Our waiter while polite, had several mix-ups forgetting requests, e.g. drinks. Nothing critical but annoying. I expect time will fix either through experience or attrition. Ron was the manager of Ninja for years. He had left Ninja sometime prior to is closing. It’s probably been four years yet he recognized many of his old patrons. He makes you feel at home, like it is «your place». I did not met the new owner(s).
