Zaccagnini’s Pastry Shop

My grandparents love this place. The calzones and spinach pies are loved by my family. My grandmother loves to pick up pastries for her friends when they get together. My husband loves the cookies!

I couldn’t believe the negative reviews this place has… I have visited both the Cumberland and Pawtucket locations recently and I have to say I love them both! The staff is always friendly. The pizza strips are a great grab and go. I love the brownies and bismarks, danish and my kids love the cupcakes! I have ordered a few birthday cakes here and not only are they beautiful but delicious as well.

The staff are friendly. The coffee is only K-​cups for $ 1.50. The desserts are average or below the average. The prices are high on their desserts. I’ve had their canollis which have terrible tasteless filling. I’ve had their hermits, which are ok. The bread is fresh and tasty. I’ve also bought 4 shortbread cookies which were good but it’s not a rocket science to make sugar cookies with jam in between. I’ve also had a twist from the shop, which is ok. If you really want some delicious coffee and a muffin or a cannolli, then go to the Phantom Farms down the street. Even though that place is not italian, their sweets taste much better (and prices are same or less).

The newest Zaccagnini shop opened in Cumberland recently. I ordered a bismark, a chocolate covered donut, a mini cannoli, and a mini cherry cheesecake. The only good thing was the bismark, something I am always trying to find since Butlers closed. The mini cannoli was more of a lemon custard filling and the shell was soft, which is what happens sometimes when you prefill them and then leave them refridgerated, meh. The doughut was stale and inedble and the cheesecake didn’t have much flavor to it, strange. I may stop in again for the bismark earlier in the day when it is fresh. They do have coffee but it is a Keurig with k-​cups, fyi. Staff was nice
I did stop in one more time many months later to give it another try, early in the morning this time. still pretty average. Bismark is still not soft enough. oreo truffle was alright but very sweet. vanilla cupcake had a good cake with not so great frosting. I love that they have fruit and cream cheese mixed danishes but the icing ruined it by being sickeningly sweet. The meat pie had a good flavor to it. I want to like this place but nothing has really been that good, the bismark being the best of the bunch if you have to pick something. I could also do without someone following me along the countertop with a tray eagerly waiting lol. Stay, and let me look. I can still see you from 4 feet away, oy.
