I trained at The Way of The Warrior for five years learning both Isshinryu karate and boxing.(I only stopped because I moved to the east coast.) Along with me, my son and daughter also trained here during their high school years. This is not a school that will push you to earn a black belt in record time. In order to earn a black belt, or any belt, the student must be ready. Sensei Pete Whitaker is an excellent instructor. He is calm, yet powerful. He teaches in a way that ensures the students know that history of what they are learning, they understand and perfect the katas, and they understand how to handle themselves in the real world. This school is good for all ages. There are adult and child sessions. Coming to this school will increase your confidence, patience and concentration. There are so many other benefits such as staying fit, being more self aware, and overall happiness. After a few classes, you will understand! After I moved to the east coast, I was jumped by two men in Boston. Although I had never imagined this really happening, being trained by The Way of The Warrior had prepared me for such an event. I was able to stay calm and do what I needed to do to get out of the situation and get to safety. I often think to this situation and wonder what would have happened if I had not received this training. I’m thankful I don’t have to find out. I just moved back to Indiana and am still working on settling in. I can hardly wait to get back to the dojo!
