Sure glad we didn’t listen to the negative comments on this place. Food was good, service was perfect, and there was even free shuffleboard!!! That definitely was a bonus for us since we were in no hurry. I got the the chicken fettuccine Alfredo, it was good but not my favorite but I am very picky when it comes to Alfredo. Still glad I tried it! My husband got the calzone which was very good! Portions are great and plenty to share for light eaters. Staff was friendly and band started shortly after we sat down. Food came out in a timely manner. Definitely stop in if your out this way!

Tucked down in the quiet hollow of Cumberland Gap, Angelo’s In The Gap is one of the few places in the dry counties of Tennessee and Kentucky to get a cold beer. As a student at Lincoln Memorial University, it’s a nice getaway off campus to grab a bite out to eat and a drink on a Friday night. The bar has a moderate selection on tap and three tv screens to watch games near the fireplace. There are live bands on the weekends as well. I always get a calzone that comes with your choice of five toppings and a crispy, buttery crust. The only downside is that you have to pay extra for a small cup of mariners sauce. I feel that should at least be included in the cost of the calzone. Try the garlic balls as an appetizer. Angelo’s is known to hold events for LMU and the surrounding community, which is great. Overall, if you’re looking for good food and a place to watch the game and have a few beers, check out Angelo’s down in Cumberland Gap.

I was so disappointed. Slow service.(I’m talking mid-day, not on a busy night.) Bland food. The garlic knots are good, though!

Do your wallet a favor and go to PTR right across the street that has 100 times better food then angelo’s. 1) We didn’t get our food until an hour later… even though we were the only ones dining it! We didn’t order Chicago Deep Dish pizza that actually takes 40 minutes to make. This is some TN backyard pizza. I have no idea how it can take them 60 minutes to make our food when the place is dead. Speaking of pizza, it was so soggy we couldn’t even hold it in our hands without it falling apart. They should just go to Walmart and buy some frozen pizzas and throw it in the oven. It will be faster and it tastes better. 2) Once we got our pizza, it took another 5 minutes to get us the plates. My friend didn’t want to wait any longer and ate the pizza on the napkin. Which was a horrible idea because the napkin just absorbed the soggy pizza. 3) Our waiter was horrible checking up on us. We all ran out of the water and we couldn’t find the waiter to ask for more. There wasn’t anyone at the front register either. We could have dined and dashed if we wanted too. Our tables/menus were also sticky. 4) To put the cherry on top, she got our receipts mixed up. I don’t drink alcohol, yet it was on my receipt. Instead of going back and printing out the other receipt, she asked my friend who actually ordered it to just pay me $ 3 later and I can just charge it on my card.

One star is very generous. The first time a group of friends ate here it took 50 mins for everything to arrive. Second time with the same group, the drinks took 15 mins, app 45 and the food did not come out for another hour after that. Furthermore, we spoke to a «manager» who was the most unprofessional, apathetic, and disrespectful manager any of us have dealt with. At one point she walked away from our table. DONOTGOHERE.

This is a great spot to have a beer when visiting the Gap. Staff is friendly and the managers really ensure a positive experience. The atmosphere is fun with live music on weekends at night. It’s a cool little spot in downtown Cumberland Gap.

Went during happy hour on a Thursday evening. Hardly anyone there. Garlic balls were pretty good. House salad and calzone was excellent. Great deal on draft beers

Great spot in a funky little historic Appalachian town. Italian? Why not, no other choices in town. Garlic balls were a great starter considering that’s what they are known for, two was plenty for me. And the pizza was a solid choice, Ricardo’s add sausage. Good beers on tap and plenty of TVs to watch the game on. Cool vibe and friendly staff make it a good stop if you have to choose between any of the neighboring towns/states. Live music every Thursday, bummed I missed it.

We were camping at Cumberland and decided to eat here one night. Definitely an unexpected stop but we absolutely loved it! Amazing food, service, and atmosphere. It will definitely be a regular stop each time we visit!!! Definitely try to the Ribeye or any of the pizza choices!

I have not yet tried the pizza, and I will edit my review once I do. But until then, I can only give one star. I ordered the Italian sub. Terrible, burned, and almost no meat on it. I sent it back, and order the Chicken Parmigiana. Also awful, lacking in flavor and it tasted like it was simply frozen breaded chicken from Sysco. A restaurant like this should have all fresh ingredients, and outstanding food. These dishes were anything but good. Thankfully they had plenty of beer with which to wash it all down!

In a very remote part of the state where people have gotten used to pretty mediocre restaurant food, Angelo’s is a happy surprise. The hand-tossed, wood fire pizza had a sauce that struck a perfect balance between sweet and spicy. The calzones – something I tend to avoid because the amount of bread can be overwhelming – had a perfectly brown and crispy thin crust and was filled with five(five!) toppings or your choice. The filling ingredients were high quality. The optional extra pizza sauce on the side was completely unnecessary. The servers were prompt and engaging. Is this the best Italian food you’ll ever have? Probably not, but it’s far better than most, and definitely worth stopping by when visiting this quaint little town.
