Closed forever. This place was going downhill for a long time and the owner was not receptive to customer suggestions, specifically mine and friends, made respectfully and offline. As such, this place bites the dust.

I am so sad this place is closing in 2 days. It is one of the best deli on west side with great kosher meals. I really enjoy their whole menu and the staff. So if you have not experienced this place make sure to get there by 91414 as will be last day.

Four stars because it’s been around for 51 years. My go-to is the matzo ball soup and potato knish. Great deli, bummed it’s closing down just so yet another Panera bread can take it’s place. Weak.

The food wasn’t bad, probably even above average. The food quantity was good. But, for the price $ 18(1 person for sandwich, fries, & soda) & an average diner experience, I can’t ever see myself going here ever again.

This place has been around for 50 years? Admirable but also shocking because it seems like it’s also the number of years since their business model was updated. I have no idea how this establishment keeps afloat in today’s economy! I wanted to check out this place since moving into the area. Driving by Target, I always see people in and out. Finally, we went in for lunch. Wait for it… lox on a slice of rye and cream cheese came with a side of giant unappetizing slice of white onion(weirdest thing ever!), one slice of tomato and a tiny cup of capers … $ 15!!! O. O Roast beef sandwich(cheese and tomato slice — $ 2 extra btw) $ 15.00 Are you joking me, Roll ‘n Rye? I’ve eaten sandwiches made by A-list chefs with high quality ingredients and actually thought behind how the sandwich is put together that cost less than that. Very unsatisfied with amount spent vs enjoyment received. They are so many better delis in the areas, with better sandwiches.

Keep on rolling to Jerry’s Deli(Marina del Rey) or Mike’s Deli(Slauson and Fairfax) and you’ll find better food and cheaper prices.

I’m a sucker for a good Jewish deli !! And this place is no exception !! It’s not my favorite Jewish deli in L.A. but it is good and close to where I work… I love coming here for breakfast… Occasionally I slip over here for a corned beef and swiss sandwich for lunch… The food and service are always good. If you aren’t careful how you order, it can be a bit pricey, but you are paying for quality…

A wonderful deli on the West side with all the usual fare. Their soups and bagel chips are awesome as well as their generously stacked sandwiches. It’s a great place for either breakfast, lunch, or dinner. A place to kickback and reminisce about old time Culver City with a cup of coffee and an omelette.

Oh god no… please go somewhere else if you even have 10 minutes to find a new place. I lived a mile from R&R for almost 10 years and avoided it like the plague. Not because the food is terrible(it’s just ok), but because the prices are way too much off a ripoff for the mediocre taste and quality food you get from this establishment. There are just too many good eats in Culver City to waste minutes here.

ROLLONBY! This place is something the Star Trek writers might call a temporal anomaly. Somehow in a Culver City strip mall, staff and customers from 70 years in the past have converged with prices from 70 years in the future and a bad prop from a porn movie meant to resemble a bagel stuck in the ceiling. Salty soup and dry bread, $ 7. I wanted a sandwich, but I saw the prices and have a hard time believing that a sandwich should cost $ 15. Especially after trying the soup. Why do people eat here?

Roll n Rye is a delicatessen locate in a shopping center on Jefferson Blvd. in Culver City. I’ve been to this place once and I don’t plan on going back. I had a regular turkey sandwich from here and it wasn’t all that great and it was overly expensive for what I got. I was so disappointed because this is one of those must go to delis in Culver City when you live there. I’ll probably never go back to this place. The service was pretty awkward too. I don’t feel as if they appreciated my business.

There are really not many options for delis on the westside. So when I was sick and needing matzoh ball soup, this was where I came!!! I got a Knish too and it totally hit the spot! I came here again one time with my mom and it was overall a good experience. Good service and a menu with many options. Great pickles to start with! We got a salad and a stir fry and the food was just okay. I’d say if you come here stick with the soups, knishes and sandwiches!

For some great menu choices, please see my previous review. This update is a rave about the Monte Cristo Sandwich: It’s like a savory donut: double decker w real roast turkey, ham, cheese on egg bread, dipped in an egg coating and deep fried for a real light & crispy outside. I like it best without the usual powdered sugar and jam — just like to enjoy all the savory elements. Get extra napkins in case you want to blot any excess oil(can’t really get a good crust any other way.) Once again, this is my favorite place to get the Monte Cristo Sandwich !

The WB and I decided to adventure out past mall food last week and came across random Jewish deli next to a random baby store in a random strip mall. The inside was much bigger than it looked, and had an old-timey feel to it. I was(emotionally) transported to my old work days at Billy’s in Glendale. I went with my Jewish deli go-to – matzo ball soup and a half tuna sandwich. I swear that sometimes I can feel my past life of an old Jewish man coming back into my current body. It was delicious and plentiful in proportions. The tuna, on the other hand, was just so-so. The WB went with pastrami and felt it was hearty and heart-clogging, which is a good sign in my book. My favorite part of this restaurant, however, are the random displays throughout the store. A flying pickle, vein-y donut bottom, and other punny toys alluding to old-timey celebrities and kosher ingredients. You have to be there to see… SOGONOW! #workbesties4ever

I have one problem with this restaurant and that is the price. We weren’t sure what to expect when we walked through the doors. The restaurant itself was nice, warm and cozy. It almost had this feeling of a older dinner from another state like Colorado or Florida. Far from something trendy from LA. The food was borderline mediocre and the prices seemed outrageous for what you get. My husband’s pastrami sandwich was $ 14! Just bread and meat with a tiny cup of macaroni and a half full bowl of dipping sauce. don’t get me wrong, he liked it alright and his food was much better than mine. I got breakfast food, because breakfast food it’s my favorite kind of food. I got 2 eggs, 2 slices of bacon and 2 blueberry pancakes. The pancakes were nothing special, I don’t think they used fresh blueberries. The bacon seemed too overcooked. For a 10 $ breakfast I feel the food was not up to part. I have had better of everything in here for cheaper. Coffee was regular drip coffee, milk… nothing fancy, though we still paid 4 bucks for both cups. Service was good. Though they offered us pickles that even though we had loved to try they never brought us. I don’t think we will come back.

This throwback deli ushers a small-town feel in a busy city. True to most of these types of sit-down delis, their menu is ginormous. Ask and you shall receive — sweets included(including candy bars at the counter!). Roll n Rye converted me from a thick to thin cut pastrami lover. If you know my love for pastrami, that is an impressive feat. My favorite item is the pastrami Reuben; that bread grilled results in a light and airy bread with the perfect amount of crunch. Also love the steam veggie plate, pickles, coleslaw and steak fries. Yum! Also of note: my pastrami-loving fiancé declare that the hot brisket grilled on rye is now«his» sandwich at Roll ‘n Rye. I tried a bite and loved the flavor.(Also thin-cut) Bonus points: the sweetest servers ever! Always so friendly and accommodating. As for cons, I’d say skip the side salad and be prepared to fork over a chunk of your wallet. But if you’re in the neighborhood and need a sandwich like right Now, Roll ‘n Rye will happily fulfill that need.

Been meaning to check out this restaurant because it always popped up on my Unilocal search for soups, salads and sandwiches. But the funny thing is, I ordered neither. Instead, I visited during brunch. You know how you walk into restaurants and everything look like old diner or that every customer is a senior citizen? This is the spot but not in a bad way. Just mean that this restaurant has history and has been in existence since 1965, so I’m not mad at that, I like these type of restaurants. I ordered the brunch special which was the Salmon Benedict with 2 Mimosas. I have no complaints about the meal. The salmon was cooked right and of course I enjoy egg benedicts even the creamy sauce was good. I would say that the Mimosas had pulp in it… I prefer without the pulp but maybe that’s how they roll with the drink. The waitress was very friendly, maybe her magical smile possessed me into getting the 2nd Mimosa because I was only going to have one. My overall experience was pleasant… I do think the prices should be lowered for the quality of the food. Plenty of parking because the location is in a shopping center. Thank you!
