Hands down delicious and fresh seafood! It’s worth the wait and the drive! Their crab balls were amazing! Service was pretty good. Personally, I think prices are a bit high but you do get big potions. We shared a plate so it wasn’t as much! It can be a little noisy upstairs but the food makes it so worth it! We will be back!

The food was really good however the prices were pretty steep I feel like. And when we got our plate that me and my fiancé shared(bc by the menu it looked like there would be mkt3 food) we both looked at each other and weren’t sure if it would fill us both up. I would maybe go back and have a beer in the summer and maybe a side dish. But the prices are a little high and I probably wouldn’t get a larger meal again. Service was great, seemed a little rushed but great.

Food was great. Service was great. Visitors beware because they will sit locals before tourist first. We own a house on the island, but are not here all the time. The last 3 times we were there several parties the same size as us were seated before us. Really? This used to be our go to spot for dinner. Not anymore.

We have a cabin in Crystal Beach and have visited Stingaree many times. The food is decent. Sometimes portions are small. The last visit, the service was awful. Waited 20 minutes for a table, we got our own drinks from the bar, then was seated at a tucked away table and sat waiting for a server. Servers kept passing but no one stopped at our table. After 10 minutes, we got up and left.

I visited the Stingaree in April of 2015 as my fiancé and I took a road trip to visit a friend in Houston. We stopped at the Stingaree on a recommendation from an old veteran who worked at a texas visitor center when crossing the border into Texas. We were still hours away and very excited for our continued vacation and what sounded like an excellent restaurant. We stopped and indeed the food, service and atmosphere were fantastic. Several months later, we decided on Galveston to have our wedding on the beach. We absolutely loved everything about Galveston and decided on a small destination wedding. I wanted to have something intimate and I didn’t want to have a lot of extra work to set up a venue. The plan was to keep it as simple as possible, rent a house on the beach and walk out on the beach and get married, have a photographer meet us at the house and then carpool to a restaurant where everyone could order whatever they wanted off the menu to their hearts content, while of course my mother fronts the bill. My instant thought was we would go to the stingaree. I called the Stingaree months ahead of time. I spoke to several hostesses and managers on the phone and I didn’t have much luck talking to someone that could make a decision on weather or not they would be able to make my reservation. I left several messages and I called each day during my lunch and after work. I finally spoke to Brad, who appeared to be the owner and he appeared to have the ability to make a commitment to me. After hesitation, he informed me that he would make whatever accommodations we needed and that he would even attempt to find us a dedicated server. I called back about a week later to see if he had found a server, and couldn’t get a hold of Brad again. After about a week of calling in shear determination of having my reception at this restaurant that we absolutely loved, I decided to email Brad. After about a day I received a response from Brad confirming that accommodations would be made for me and my family come rain or shine. I was so relieved as a very stressed out Bride would be to finally have all of her plans come to fruition. Wedding day came, beautiful ceremony out on the beach with my new husband and wonderful pictures still yet to come. Our reservation was for 4pm and around 2pm, I had to make a decision weather to continue to take pictures on the beach, or head over to the restaraunt which would mean I would have to pay for an hour of photography while driving. My bridesmaid called the stingaree to see if we could move our reservation back 2 hours and they informed her that we did not have a reservation. I then informed her that I had an email confirmation and after talking to the restaurant they suddenly found the reservation. They told us it would not be a problem to move the reservation. We had a LONG ferry ride over to the restaurant and my dedicated server even called to make sure we were OK(Very sweet of him). We arrived and the server had set up a table up front for the bride and groom and took our drink orders immediately. He was an absolutely fantastic waiter. Then one of my wedding party, that had arrived earlier than I, informed me that we were only permitted to order from the very limited bar menu. I was astonished that the $ 40/plate seafood and steak meals that my mother was prepared to pay for had now been limited to $ 6/plate of fried food. I thought there had to be a mistake. The server confirmed that this was the case and it was because we were sitting outside. I never imagined that a restaurant that I had booked months in advance would only be prepared to serve a wedding party fish sticks and fried pickles. Brad had even promised me they would move me inside should it rain. So I asked if they could move us inside in order to get us a full menu and the management response was«NO». So we prepared to leave and find a restaurant that would accommodate for my one and only wedding reception. As we prepared to leave, Brad arrived and fell into a confrontation with the best man and the best man’s pregnant wife. I was told that he even called me a liar about having a reservation. I then went and introduced myself to Brad and explained my complete disappointment with the establishment and offered to show him my written confirmation. He suddenly recalled our previous conversations of his rain or shine accommodations that he had committed to. He did finally take credit for the mix up; however, they were still unwilling to accommodate our party with a full menu. We left and went to a competitor down the street(High five to Steve’s Landing. Fantastic restaurant with awesome atmosphere, service and food) The next day I received what appeared to be a heart felt sincere apology from Brad. It appears though, that the apology came as a result of a bad review my husband had written in an apparent attempt to have us remove the poor review. Do not support this wedding destroying place!

We booked this place for our wedding reception months in advanced. After calling same day to confirm we drove 3 hours to get here. Once we arrived we were told they couldn’t accommodate us. The owner then shoved the best mans 8 month pregnant wife while arguing about our accommodations. The owner then called the police on us and we left with our party. I will continue to repost this every day until the owner gives us a written apology, for us and the entire 22 person wedding party.

This was definitely a local hot spot. I had the crab stuffed shrimp which was delicious. DH had the chicken fried chicken that was as big as his face. Great view for sunset over the bay.

One of the better places we’ve been to. Not the best but certainly top quality and worthy of repeat visits to sample a nice menu. Our waiter, Cody, erased any concerns from other reviewers suggesting only locals get good service. Excellent table-side manners with clear explanations for menu items. He set the tone. Genuinely nice experience. We are coming back. See pictures for our choices.

I’ve been coming to this Restruant my whole life. It’s had its ups and downs. This past year, they have knocked it out of the park time and time again. All you can eat oysters, several different ways(during the season, call first)! Buffalo shrimp are awesome! Mugaritas & great service top it off! Can’t wait to be in a food coma again the next time we return!

I was so disappointed with stingray. The fried shrimp I had was tougher than a west Texas boot as was the grilled shrimpy wife had. Also there was the nasty iodine taste on a few of them. The french fries and cold slaw were good. We both had the feeling that our waitress had something better to do than wait on us. So why was i disappointed? It’s because it was a pleasant surprise the first time we went in there at lunch a year or so ago. Something has changed. Sorry to say, but it’s not worth the climb up the stairs for us. Seems like the locals enjoy it and the comradeship with the wait staff.

We recently dined with my parents at Stingaree.(11−05−15). Our waitress was very attentive. Her name is Brandy. Our meals were delivered as ordered. We have experienced the same up charge issues that the gentleman that dined on 10−07−15 John T from Lafayette LA. He was charged and extra $ 3 bc he ordered a two way combo that is offered for a set price on the menu. The menu indicates that you can order shrimp, crab, oysters or fish. Selecting two items for a set price. The menu has no up charges advertised as other restaurants do on their menus. Some of us catch this and ask for the charges to be corrected and the wait staff WILL change the charges. However, this is an on going issue. Many people may not even notice this extra charge. Since the wait staff is fully aware they are going to over charge the customer in hopes that the customer won’t notice is fraud in my opinion. Management has been put on notice but has yet to do the right thing and update their menus. Just glad my Dads check was correct because he’s a honorable old Aggie and he would have been very disappointed. Sorry the management hasn’t corrected this wrong yet! Still hopeful he will.

This is one of my favorite places to eat. I so admire the resilience of people who after Ike destroyed their business and others fought to return. Until u have been through hurricane it is hard to appreciate. Yes this is a locals place and that is a good sign not bad The food and service is great the view spectacular. I strongly recommend. Usually closed Monday Tuesday Btw the sign people have referred to here I do not see and don’t remember. Likely they have removed and I agree for good reason. I remember seeing a similar sign in Chicago years ago and thought about saying something. I suspect they walk by it for years and didn’t see or think about… If it bothered u I suggest saying something… take the chance to enlighten is more affective. Other places on bolivar include ocean grill for hamburgers and Steves landing(fish but different)

The impression we got, was that the restaurant caters more to the locals than visitors. The waitress acted annoyed when we asked questions about the menu. How am I supposed to know what Stinger Balls are?(we did order them and they were good… cheese, crab and bacon…). No specialty drinks, but there are $ 7 House margaritas in a narrow beer mug. A little overpriced for the location and size of drink. Fried seafood platter was good. Does have a lot of filler/stuffing between the crab balls, stuffed crab and stuffed shrimp. I would skip the Stinger balls if ordering this platter– stuffing overload. Some tables had bread on their table. We never received any, but maybe it’s because we didn’t ask.

It had been years since I had ridden the Bolivar Ferry so I packed the kids up and headed down to Ferry Landing! Got in the ferry and made it to Crystal Beach and Unilocaled good places to eat and this place popped up! What would I do without Unilocal! So we drove the 10 plus miles or so to the place and was not disappointed. Now the place has a lot of atmosphere and I can imagine watching a sunset would’ve been very nice. But to be honest the food was just ok in my opinion. Not as fabulous as described by some but just ok. Now if you’re hungry after jumping off the ferry and can’t wait until you get back to Galveston this is about your only decent option but if you can wait your options on Galveston are probably much better! I gave it 3 stars mainly for that reason. My waitress was ok at best and I’ve had much better service in local eateries near me but like I said if on the peninsula with not much else; choice wise this is probably the best! Lots to see. Watching the boats etc with nice views but that’s about it.

A most stop. Thanks to Unilocal we found this along our travels. We were in an RV with tow. Plenty of parking. Excellent food !! Off the beaten path but the locals seem to know where to eat. Friendly service. Had the seafood platter. One fried and one broiled. Comes with slaw and a side. King Star beer and great bloody Mary’s !! STOP here!
