Average«Hawaiian», typical bento place… Good portions. Good was good but not«amazing» — but I have pretty high standards for Hawaiian food.

I have eaten a lot of Hawaiian bbq and this one by far has a superior flavor on their bbq beef! Their prices are compatible to others but they are on the larger end of portion sizes. The Rice was really good. Barbecue beef had a really great amount of sauce on it, too much not too little

Simple, clean and inviting, Hawaiian BBQ has a menu that provides a good variety for just about anyone. The staff were very friendly and the service was on point. The restaurant décor is current. If you like Thai iced teas, I’d recommend trying one here. Okay, so now about the food… I want to start by saying that in the restaurant business«food» is the main player. You can have great food and mediocre service, and the food will deleverage the service issue every time. Conversely, you can have great service and mediocre food and the issue remains that, well… the food wasn’t that great regardless of how great the service was. Anyway, my point here is this… all things being what they are, the food is «okay». It’s not bad, and there were point of the meal that were good don’t get me wrong. I had the special o the day, Char grilled marinated flank steak… a little dry in places due to uneven cooking and could use a bit more flavor. The teriyaki chicken was flavorful and tasted every bit the classic teriyaki chicken you’d expect. The fish and chips lacked seasoning, but had a good balance of batter to fish ratio. Each of the sides were well portioned and again good use a little more seasoning –the macaroni salad for example. Portion sizes are good and fair at the cost. Bottom line, with a little bit more flavor, this would be my 5 star all day long. Unfortunately, I can’t I based just on service alone(which was great) …after all, it’s about the food when it’s all said and done.

Thank you Unilocal community!!! This is a review from a one time visit. My wife and I stopped here coming back from San Francisco on Memorial day weekend. We are Glad… The service was just above average. Our server had a very quiet personality but he took care of us. Inside of the place was somewhat clean. It just needs someone to organize all the loose boxes and other received goods.(beer, condiments, etc, etc) The food was very tasty to say the least! My wife and I both had the Fish tacos with the Asian Colslaw. Amazing!!! If you like fish tacos then these are a must try. We are now living short term in Coos Bay Oregon and have been disappointed in their fish tacos. Nothing has been close to South Florida Piscado!!! Haha

We were really looking forward to trying this place based on reviews. We were really disappointed. We ordered the shortribs and the Kalua Pork, both large portions. This sides were white rice and«pasta» of some sort. The pasta was clearly store bought/made a week in advance. The short ribs were fine. Nothing special, a little chewy, but fine. The Kalua pork was literally the worst/most bland pork we have ever eaten, and I don’t use the word«literally» lightly. No flavor whatsoever. I’m not really sure how they pulled off sucking all the flavor out of pulled pork, but they did. There was no seasoning, nothing. Spent 30 buck on two meals and Tiramisu that came in a cup(not kidding) with no actual lady fingers! The only thing decent was the short ribs. We were both very disappointed. We will not be going back next month when we head back down to the redwoods.

This place was awesome! Both my husband’s meal and mine were satisfying. We didn’t expect to find such a great Hawaiian restaurant in this town. The waiter was very respectful and made sure we were set. He brought us an extra plate for our daughter along with a juice box with our food which we really appreciated.

I’ve been here a few times since we’ve moved to crescent city, both sit down and take out. All experiences have been great! The restaurant makes me forget I’m in crescent city lol very clean and hardly ever busy. it’s a nice and relaxing atmosphere. We usually get the large portion and its plenty of food enough to take some home. The macaroni salad is always fresh and taste really good. My go to is the teriyaki beef, its amazing. flavor is tasty and meat is always tender. I’ve tried the teriyaki chicken, Ribs, pork everything honestly is really good. Service is always good especially if we bring our kids, it’s a very family oriented place which I love. I’ve read that when someone ordered take out wasn’t offered eating utensils. Today I ordered food to go(service was super fast) and the owner asked if I would like utensils so I’m sure they take these reviews into consideration!

This place is great and has some great lunch specials. Their chicken can be a bit dry but I love their pull pork when they have it and their beef is always good.

Food was amazing, I frequent the Hawaiian islands, and the Kalbi short ribs and hot malasada took me back to my happy place, Kauai.

This was good. We ordered tempura chicken, teriyaki beef, Loco moco, and a butter lettuce wrap with beef… oh goodness it was yummy. We make Loco moco at home that we prefer more but this one wasn’t bad. We LOVED the lettuce wrap and beef teriyaki — those were amazing. My chicken was good and super moist and tender. Macaroni salad wasn’t very good, kinda bland and boring tasting. Salt and pepper did not help it. Service was fast and friendly. Very clean place and easy to find also. Good place to try if you want something familiar with a different style.

We’re visiting firefighters from southern Cal. We split up our 20 guys and ten of us came here. We had one of the best authentic Hawaiian meals. Butter lettuce wrap with spam was so good. So good I brought my friends. All 20 of us came and had another great meal. Everything is awesome! Highly recommended.

What a hidden treasure this place is! I had driven by it many times, and my son convinced me to try it out. I had no idea what to expect, and am not familiar with the cuisine. First, the location is conveniently located right off highway 101. Parking can be a bit hard as they are typically busy. The inside is tastefully decorated with exposed beams and pendant lighting. The tables and chairs are exceptionally clean, and in good taste. They appear to have a large selection of beer, both on tap and in bottles. The menu featured good picture representations of what was served. We ordered the teriyaki beef and shrimp tempura. We were immediately seated, and the meal took only 10 minutes to appear on our table. The presentation was a nice surprise, as was the portion size. They offer smaller sizes for most of their meals also. The beef was flavored perfectly, and was on a bed of chow mein noodles and cabbage. The cabbage was crisp and sweet, the noodles seasoned nicely. This was the best teriyaki I had ever tasted! The shrimp were lightly breaded and tasty. They were served with rice and a healthy scoop of a creamy pasta salad. The server was attentive and friendly. Almost no kitchen noise, even though the kitchen is fairly exposed to the dining room. I watched them seat a party of 16 and have their orders taken on multiple tickets, and have food on the table in about 10 minutes. The front and back of the house are well in sync. Price was on point, actually a little less than I expected for the quality of the food and atmosphere. 3 meals with drinks was less than $ 40. This town is full of restaurants that disappoint, especially to folks like me who are picky, but this is not one of them. I am sorry I did not try this earlier. Well done. If I could change anything it would be better parking and a larger dining room, they are going to need it :)

It was very unlikely that we should find a decent restaurant in Crescent City, yet we were absolutely delighted at findind this Hawaian BBQ. Thanks to the good reviews of Unilocal! The food was delicious(i recommend mangoo & kali grill) and restorative, especially after our 12 miles hike in Redwood park. The staff really nice and friendly. Desserts are also good. All in all a very good place to eat and not expensive.

Crescent City didn’t seem like a promising place to eat, but once again I trusted Unilocal to guide us, and I’m glad I did! I would never have expected a Hawaiian BBQ joint in a strip mall to have such awesome food. Just manage your expectations about the décor and the bathrooms and you’ll be fine. We tried the swai fish and chips and the teriyaki beef. The fish came in HUGE pieces with very light, crisp, not-too-greasy batter coating. I’m not a big fan of fish and chips, but even I recognized the superiority of this fish. The fries were fine, not particularly memorable. The teriyaki beef was tender and juicy, came in a large portion, and was very gingery(which I liked). You can get small or large-sized portions of many of the plates, and I’d recommend the smaller size unless you are super hungry. The malasadas were ordered on a whim, and they turned out to be fantastic! They’re freshly made to order, so they take a few minutes, but they’re totally worth it, maybe even better than Leonard’s. There, I said it. The décor is kinda bare-bones(framed surfing posters on the wall, neon signboard, window-wrap mural on the storefront), but I enjoyed the Hawaiian music they played while we were there. The bathroom was a bit scary and not very clean, so you might want to skip it unless you really have to go. Overall, very tasty food at extremely reasonable prices and BIG portions! The owner and his family were friendly and attentive, and we’d definitely go again if we ever find ourselves in Crescent City for some reason.
