I came here with three families. We ordered 2 hot pot with Vegetable assortment, fish cakes, beef and meat. We really enjoyed our dinner and ate as much as we could hold. I like have Hot Pot as I can eat a lot of softly cooked vegetable and beef and so on~! It is really good choice for friends and big family get together.

Great place! The sushi is fantastic. The hot pot is fun and delicious. Reasonable prices and the owner is very nice. Defiantly give this place a try. Also the beef teriyaki sticks and spareribs are way better then any other Asian spot guaranteed.

Two hours for delivery after we were garunteed one hour. Were rude. Would not offer discount. Grubhub cancelled it because they were even rude to grub hub and told them they were too busy to do our order, so after early 1.5 hours it was never started. We ordered over $ 100 order on Grubhub. Never again! Too many good places that care about their customers and this is not one. Go to Bön or haruki. I ended up cooking.

Very poor delivery service. Ordered via GrubHub; originally order was going to take an hour. When we realized food was 20 minutes late, I called the restaurant and was told it would be another 30 minutes. 20 minutes later and still no food. I called GrubHub; the restaurant told them it would be another 30 minutes and they would not give a discount. We cancelled the order. Off to pick ip from Haruki.

I’ve been to four hot pot restaurants in Rhode Island. This was my least favorite. My dinner was $ 26 with a can of soda. I had the meat lovers dinner. Not a bad plate of meats, but the vegetable plate was laughable. One slice of carrot. One slice of sweet potato. A couple grams of tofu. A slice of a corn cob, not even an inch thick. Two enoki mushrooms! Your pet squirrel would leave hungry! Are you kidding. I paid $ 26 for this??? The Chinese family next to me said hot pot wasn’t good here. «Go to Bamboo.» Never a good sign when the natives tell you to eat somewhere else! I have been to Bamboo and it’s better. All you can eat too. I had to try the place though. When I left, I paid my $ 26 tab with two twenties. The waitress asked if I was all set! I was not leaving a $ 14 tip. I asked for change, and she seemed disappointed. I left 20 percent. That’s it. Will not return. A note, the owner sent me a message apologizing and said they dropped the ball. Look at the other people’s pics and reviews. I did not have a uniquely poor experience. Check out pics.

Always amazing food. Fresh. Prompt service. I always leave this place feeling so satisfied. The tomyum broth is great and the assorted mushroom platter always fresh and tasty. This is one of Rhode Island’s best kept secrets.

I wouldn’t even give this place one star if the option was available… When I called to check on the delivery and to let them know my entrance was on the left side of the house the woman mentioned my food would arrive in a few minutes… 15 minutes later I called again, another 20 minutes later I called them again. Apparently the deliver driver couldn’t find my place. He was on his way back to the restaurant and supposedly due there in 2 minutes. They were going to send another driver to deliver my food, seeing how the food was already 40 minutes late. I asked her if they were bringing me cold food. The woman had said they would reheat the food and it would be at my place in about 10 minutes… Not only am I not interested in eating reheated food from any restaurant, the woman is misleading once again about the time, she neglected to fill me in when I called and waited outside, and apparently the deliver drivers don’t have access to a Gps… I will never order from this place or dine in. The reviews are never consistent. Oh not to mention while I was ordering my food, I had asked if they used MSG, the woman on the phone didn’t have an answer for me at first, after s moment or two later I’m sure the one she gave me was a lie, considering how she clearly didn’t mind stretching the truth. I wouldn’t have minded if she had told me they couldn’t find my place. I did mind waiting outside and calling three time for food that was supposedly only 10 minutes away. So all in all this place lacks common customer service and I’m assuming they’re lacking in other areas as well.

My previous review had some minor problems on this place. I’ve come to a conclusion on the place. I have to give it 5 stars because my boyfriend and I keep coming back to the point where we are regulars. This place has great customer service, their food is just so good and addicting! Not only is it very tasty, but the portions are awesome! The price is my favorite part and just adds to the many reasons why I choose to enjoy a hotpot here than any other place. The restaurant is always super clean including the bathrooms. I have never seen a mess on the floor to be honest and on top of the clean floor are really nice roomy tables. I for one hate when I have a small table and a lot of food. Long review short, COMETOSHANGHAIMOON you won’t regret it.

To be frankly, the reason I said a «ridiculous long waiting time» is because there were only 5 people eating at two different tables included us and it took nearly 1 hour to finish malaxiangguo. The service is terrible because your waitress who speaks Cantonese suck. She didn’t smile, and served us in a very bad manner. After we finished ordering, she never response to us. However, she always smiled and be very friendly to the other table’s white woman. At the end, she asked another white girl to serve us. When we asked for check, there was a line indicated we need to pay 18% tips. This is also ridiculous and I feel shame on your waitress that how could she possible ask for tips after she behaved so so bad. We were very angry about that so we asked the white girl to cancel it while she said she would do it and told us this fee was not added by her. And when we asked for packaging the food, the white girl left the box to us and let us package whereas she packaged everything for the other table. What I can tell is that we did no wrong, so why your waitress treated us in that way? Your waitress are discriminating us based on race and they performed in such an obvious way. We eat at several Chinese restaurant around providence and met so many people who speak Cantonese. They are friendly and nice. You have too much to explain and too much problems to fix. Whatever, I am done with it. Besides, you should really learn the definition of malaxiangguo, you should try Mala restaurant in Boston which will tell what is the authentic version. I have included so much details and I hope you understand why I gave 1 star to your restaurant because this is the worst experience since I came to America. Are you satisfied with my complement, that is all I want to say.

If you are interested in delivery, don’t bother. Have tried to order delivery on three separate occasions now and have been told they«didn’t have delivery» at that time. If you cannot provide a service that you advertise, then don’t offer it! Ordered online today and was really excited I could work from home and also enjoy sushi as well! Placed my order online and called the restaurant to confirm they had received it when I was told«we don’t have sushi today». What!!! The sushi offerings account for half of their menu — how can you not have sushi? I’m pretty happy I called to confirm my order but it concerns me when and if I would’ve gotten a call from the restaurant explaining they didn’t have sushi. There are quite a few very good Asian restaurants in the Cranston area and service like this isn’t going to help this restaurants reputation. Was so excited to have a local Asian/sushi restaurant that delivers nearby but apparently that’s not the case. As I write this I am waiting for my sushi takeout from another restaurant. Thanks again for the let down Shangai Moon.

There aren’t many hotpot places in RI for hotpot fan like me. I tried the place out the same day I found it on Google. Needless to say, I had high expectations. If it lived up to my expectations, I’d probably visit a few times every month especially in winter, the best time for hotpot. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to my expectations. To be fair, this place is pretty — nice layout, beautiful plating, a TV, and a bar. They also offer a wide selection of Chinese and Japanese foods for a restaurant its size. The server was nice, attended to our needs in time and made sure we didn’t overcook our hotpot beef slice. However, that’s where the good things end. Hotpot is overpriced and taste is mediocre. The meat and vegetable portion is on the small size. Vegetable selection is limited. They didn’t have a few of the vegetables we asked for, such as enoki mushroom, A-choy and tofu skin although they were listed on the menu. In terms of taste, the broth was a little plain. Taste wasn’t bad but there was no «wow» factor that made me want to come back either. Will I come back for a second time? Only if I couldn’t find another hotpot place in RI.

Been here a few times. I love their selection and the amount they give you. The atmosphere is pretty cool and laid back. They have a few alcoholic beverages not a wide variety. They offer a very authentic menu. My only complaint is their dipping sauce for The Shabu Shabu, its a pretty darn plain, super plain like water, that I have to ask for sesame sauce to add in and they charge you for a side of sesame sauce! Like really? Who does that? Its Shabu Shabu your paying for the hot pot already and you get charge for sesame sauce which should be included with the condiments that they offer with the meal. I was pretty excited when I found out A Shabu Shabu was opened here in R.I. I usually have to drive about 45 mins to Boston China town for it. The Shabu Shabu Restaurants in Boston are to die for and nobody can beat them. From the dipping sauce which is perfect and flavorful to just everything they offer. I was a bit disappointed after trying the hot pot due to my expectation it would taste like the restaurants in Boston. But owell.

This is pretty solid hotpot. If you’re used to all of the shabu places in Boston like I am, this place is a nice stand-in considering the lack of such cuisine in RI. My boyfriend and I like to share a half house/half spicy broth and typically order a combo of beef/noodles/veg with maybe some additional veg a la carte. We find ourselves here pretty often. If you have super picky, unadventurous friends like I do, their standard chinese-american fare(think fried dumplings and generals chicken) has been approved of time and time again. Beer/Wine only. I think they are in the process of changing their name, as their menus and signs now read«Shanghai Moon» although their facebook page still stands as Hibi Shabu. They have also opened up a second room where I noticed a bar for their newly added sushi menu. I seem to only come here when it’s close to closing time, so it’s never been too busy. There is the tiniest bit of a language barrier, but the servers understand plenty enough and are always very friendly and helpful in answering questions or providing suggestions. Note: Their website will tell you otherwise, but closing time on Fridays & Saturdays is 11, not 11:30.

Hibi has sushi now? Wow! We’ve been in for hot pot before and it was great but service was spotty, shrimp balls were frosty, and the spicy pot had a lot of seeds that were hard to get around(maybe just preference) my boyfriend loved his side though!(You can get 2 different broths in one pot, cool!). Anyway, haven’t been in awhile but was browsing the menu on foodler and realized a bunch of new items! New sushi menu is great and has tons of good stuff on it, can’t wait to try it all! They also have great chinese specialities too. With such a great and vast menu with delivery to boot, it’s definitely going to become a new go-to for me. I tried the beef teriyaki, hot and sour soup, hamachi scallion roll, tuna jalapeño apple roll, and spicy scallop roll. All was great and even fresher that I thought it’d be! Delivery was prompt as well. Only complaint was the pork in the soup was kind of watery and fatty and I found a small scale in my sushi. But atleast its extra fresh! All in all a great experience. I’d definitely recommend and will be ordering soon! I think they also may have bubble tea but not sure on flavors as they aren’t listed. Looking forward to trying more!

Came yesterday for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised! The inside is very clean and modern with a cute little bar. The food was very fresh and I found the prices to be fair as well. Service was a bit slow but I didn’t mind. We had the house broth and it was excellent– especially for being free! My only complaint was that the food came out very sporadically so we only had bits and pieces of our meal for a while. Also the shrimp balls were frost-bitten, definitely don’t recommend them. Next time I will try some of the fresh seafood and meats because they looked great.

I come here all the time — this is my go to hotpot spot! I’m actually writing this review as I wait for my food. What I really love about this place is that it’s new, bright, clean, has good food, and the atmosphere is trendy with either top 40 playing at a good volume or a TV is on. Although I do wish there was another flat screen on the other side of the bar to accommodate everyone. My reason for not giving 5 stars is that the service is spotty. I go quit often and never feel a sense of being welcomed but more so a «thanks for your business now get out“vibe. There has been numerous times I’ll get up to leave and never hear a «Good bye» or «Thank you» and I was thee only person there. Call it what you want but I would appreciate if Hibi Shabu Shabu appreciated the business I give them. If they had a more friendly and inviting feel than this place would be A1 in my book.

This is a super great place to have hot pots! The prices aren’t bad either its pretty cheap. I have not given this five stars because the booth seats were really gross looking and the menu didn’t have descriptions like other hot pot places i went to. The place looks really modern but super tiny. All in all i do recommend this place. The food is great, the place is super clean(aside from the booth seats against the wall) and my favorite part, a very roomy table. I hate when i run out of table for all my food c: *** Reply: I can’t really reply but I can’t choose if I haven’t tried all of them haha i am trying to bring some more people here soon.

This is the best oriental style food in Rhode Island! I’m from California where we eat Shabbu very often and this place rocks! The orange chicken is also amazing, so fresh with the perfect texture and complimentary sauce. We love it here. Every time that I visit Rhode Island this is the first place we go to. The service is also fantastic! Waitstaff is very knowledgeable about the dishes and will certainly help you out if you’ve never tried Shabbu before. Keep up the great work!

This happened in January when I bought a coupon to check this place out. Well, it was sooo busy that not only was the wait time affected, but the quality of service, too. The servers were apologetic after every oversight but while that is all right, one cannot help but think that they should have better preparation knowing that they promoted on Living Social. Let’s start with areas for improvement: First, they need a waiting room or seat. They need to configure seating because in Winter with a deal, this becomes essential. Second, twice with two different servers, my order/request was«forgotten». Third, it will also serve them well not to have condiments passing around. I think it doesn’t cost much to have condiments for every two seats on the Shabu-Shabu bar, and one per table. Surely, they can afford to provide one table or customer/group, one set. Fourth, be careful when you order the delicious sparkling sake. Just make sure you are aware that the Ozeki Hana Awaka Sparkling Sake costs $ 16.00! Almost as much, if not more, than the Shabu choices themselves. The positives: One. Only two but it they are significant to overshadow the not-so: The food quality is good — clean presentation, great tasting broth selections, and they have entrees, too. Two. The place is actually nice when you step in. Outside, it didn’t look much — like really small and cramped but when you enter, you’ll see it is deeper than it looks. Just needs seat reconfiguration. Not rushing to go back but definitely can.

This place is normally pretty decent but today we found a maggot in the broth. I normally don’t complain because I am in the restaurant business but I think that they deserved this review. The Manager didn’t even come to apologize and just took 15% off the bill. My friend and I barely ate the food and still had to pay for it which is rediculous. So guys if you do decide to come here make sure u inspect their veggies, meat, and broth.

I, so badly, want to like this place. I’ve been here numerous occasions because we keep trying to give it another chance. More than once, they forget at least one or two of the items that we ordered. We have to ask and remind the waiter and waitress that we are missing a few items. Service isn’t terrible and food isn’t bad. Unfortunately I’ve been disappointed too many times to go back or recommend this place to friends. Also, not sure why my party of 4 was automatically charged 18% gratuity. We usually give at least 20% but I didn’t like that tip was automatically added… Especially after being charged for items that we never brought out to us. Hope we find another hotpot place soon. :(

I’ve eaten here many times and I always leave full and happy. Their broths are very good and the ingredients fresh. You honestly can’t ask for more than that. The location is tiny, but the interior is nicely done and brightly lit so that you feel like there is more space even when you’re crowded right next to other people. As for the food, the house broth is well balanced. I also enjoy the kimchi broth. One of the side dishes I like best is the thinly sliced king oyster mushrooms. They have such a wonderful texture when you cook them. I also like that you can order dumplings for the hotpot, because who doesn’t like dumplings?

This place is great. You couldn’t tell from its façade but the inside is very nice. I was pleasantly surprised when we walked in. We ended up having some appetizers and ordered from the lunch menu(sweet and sour shrimp), but the next time we go I am definitely going to have to try the hot pot! Our food was delicious and the service was great. We’ll be back for sure!

Delicious hotpot! There are a variety of different kinds of soup bases, but we went with the spicy kimchi and the house soup. The soups come out in a divided bowl so that when your ingredients arrive you can choose which to cook the meats/veggies in. Pretty straightforward hotpot place in terms of options for dipping. I highly recommend cooking all the meats first so that the meaty richness is infused into the broths. We ordered the beef and the pork shabu and enoki mushrooms. The orders will easily feed two, but you can go for more, and also request extra rice cakes and extra noodles for just a few bucks extra. For two full orders of soups with two different meat plate orders, plus a few extra sides and extra orders such as beef tripe, three of us were well fed for only $ 20 each, and we got to try a large variety of different things.

Went there for lunch and I was very happy with the Shabu Shabu experience. Three of us got two different broths(their pots at the tables can only hold one or two broths, not three or four)…except if you sit at the counter, where each seat gets their individual pot. Tried seafood, lamb, pork and beef. All cooked in the boiling broths. The meal was delicious. Vegetables, noodles or rice and the meats made it all fun and delicious. We asked for the Szechuan and the Beef broth. The spicy broth was definitely the best, tasty, nicely seasoned and well spiced. I had the Udon noodles, my friends got each the vermicelli and the Shanghai noodles. Everything was just wonderful! Be back !!
