Sub-Ology

I’m a very big fan of Sub-​Ology — the owner, as well as the rest of the staff, are SUPER friendly and the sandwiches are consistently great. The value is also very very good — they stack on the meat and you never leave disappointed. They’re also very quick, and the vibe in the place is very clean, comfortable and casual.
There was only one time (out of the dozens) where we ordered something to go and found an item missing, and the folks at Sub-​Ology went ABOVE AND BEYOND to make sure that the situation was remedied immediately — they not only comp’d us the missed sandwich, but threw in a large bag of chips and were ready to bring the sandwich straight to our house within minutes. Mistakes happen, and Sub-Ology’s response is a testament to their quality and fuels my loyalty.
They’re my go-​to sub shop in Cranford, despite the other options. I’ve never been disappointed.

I’ve been to subology many times, but have yet to write a review. The place is great. Fresh bread, well made subs consistently deliver. The owner is a nice guy as well so always a plus. We’ve had platters made for parties and have stopped in for an individual sandwich. Everything works here. If you want a great sub, stop in.

Finally tried this place! So happy I did. They slice the boars head meat right as you order. They have a huge selection of sandwiches and meats. Sandwiches are huge. A whole sandwich really serves two people. The staff was so friendly. I’ll be back!

We have ordered from here many times and each time Im so happy with our food! I’m a boar’s head snob, I prefer their meats so I was so glad to find a local sub shop who used them also. Since I also own a local business, I have used them for catering and I have never been disappointed! I can’t recommend them enough! Good food and nice people working behind the counter!

We got subs here once. They were good, but I felt a little bit overpriced. What I did like about them was that they used very fresh bread and the staff was eager to help take your order.

LOVE… LOVE…LOVE their sandwiches!!! The best! The owners are so nice, you feel like family walking in there. It’s definitely part of our weekend eats list… EVERY WEEKEND!!!

Short story… The kid that does the add ons. Wiped his runny nose with his hands and proceeded to make a sandwich. Whether you put gloves on or not. you should wash your hands. NEVER AGAIN

I have tried coming here a few times and each time these folks disappoint! On my most recent (and final visit) they charged $ 1.25 extra to get pickles on a $ 5.99 half turkey sub. A 20% up charge? That’s ridiculous! In order to build a successful, lasting business, you need to develop a loyal customer base. This will never happen if you rip customers off!

Subs by far can be simple if you want it to be — and Sub-​Ology does an awesome job making the perfect simple sub, thus a happy boyfriend I have. But if it needs to be complex you can challenge them. Yes no luxury ingredients, but even the simplest ingredients is hard to perfect. Sub-​Ology is up for the task, so far no complaints on my end. I am happy to return for a great lunch.

Glad I found this place. Really good place for a sandwich. You can go simple or your can go a little fancy. I got a simple ham and turkey and my friend got a Turkey, Spinich BLT which he really enjoyed. They use quality deli meats and the bread was nice and soft with a decent crunch on the crust. Will be back! :)

My wife and I had some time to kill before our daughter’s field hockey game and we needed lunch so we did what we always do… checked Unilocal for a local place to try. I actually wasn’t in the mood for a sandwich… I told my wife I wasn’t in the mood for a sandwich… so what better place for her to pick than a place that sells nothing but sandwiches… SMH.
Anyway, we walked into the place and I didn’t have hope because… ummm, I didn’t want a sandwich, but we were here and I was hungry. Sub-​Ology has all of your basics here for subs-​but they off so much more. A board full of special sandwiches, wraps, and salads. My wife ordered a very healthy Pesto Wrap (she should have ordered the Turkey Pesto Wrap, but she loved it just the same. She tried the Sub-​Ology root beer and loved that as well.
I originally wanted the pulled pork sandwich, but for whatever reason they didn’t have any pulled pork that day so I had the Turkey Cranberry hot sub… so much for that whole not wanting a sandwich thing. Anyway, hot turkey and swiss on top of a layer of cranberry sauce and topped with cranberry mayo all on a nice soft sub roll. Did I REALLY not want a sandwich??? Boy was I glad they didn’t have the pulled pork!
Seriously, the sandwich and the wrap and the drinks and the chips and the service were all GREAT. Saw a couple of mildly negative reviews about the bread and the service, but I can’t agree with them. Bread was awesome and the staff behind the counter were helpful and all smiles, heck they even brought our food to our table instead of calling us up. I don’t know that I will ever be in this part of Cranford at lunchtime again, but if YOU are then give these guys a try… I certainly WASN’T disappointed!!!

First time here ordered a spicy Italian very good. The bread had the perfect chew, meat was very flavorful. Well done sandwich

In case you haven’t noticed… I absolutely LOVE Subology. Not to mention the name is extremely clever and makes the experience that much more fun. First, let’s start by saying I don’t live in town and actually drive 35 minutes for these subs. Everything about theses subs is just fantastic. From the fresh bread, to the great meats (I religiously get the Italian sub), delicious pickles, and the extensive chip selection that will make anyone happy… Subology never fails. The subs are also HUGE. Whether you get the half or whole you will be very satisfied and very full.
The service is fantastic as the guys genuinely care about their customers. Several times they have thrown in extra pickles without me asking and that has just made so happy (the pickles are amazing)!
Subology will keep you very happy.

Went there last week to pick up some lunch.
Menu is extensive, so it took a while to decide.
Staff was very patient, and helpful. they even substituted ingredients in the sandwich i ordered.
Place is also clean and has a lot to offer, in terms of drinks and chips etc.
Food itself was also good. I had a panini with the jerk chicken (good flavor — wish it had more goat cheese). I also ordered a salad. that also was fresh and good.

Great addition to the neighborhood! Cranford has been in need of a really good sub shop and it looks like this is it. The bread is fresh and the portions are generous. The menu is pretty large for a sub shop, includes a lot of healthy and vegetarian options, as well. I’ve been back several time already and have always been pleased. They offer sides like hummus and carrots, instead of just the basic Mac salad.
My only issue is the person who built the subs the last time I went must not have been too experienced, because she added the oil and vinegar in the middle of the sandwich, so the bread didn’t have deliciousness it gets when it absorbs the dressing. Not a big deal but will make for an even better sandwich when done in the right order.

Normally a sub shop wouldn’t get me excited (especially when I’m pregnant since cold cuts = no no). But Sub-​Ology offers a bunch of options besides the normal subs and sandwiches. I ordered the Smashed Panini which had avocados, chickpeas, and roasted red peppers. It was really good and very filling. Plus it was only $ 6 which I thought was a great deal. They have a variety of salads, paninis and sandwiches, plus they use Boar’s Head cold cuts and bread from Breadsmith. Another great lunch option in downtown Cranford.
