Alera Salon & Spa

Have been here a few times but I will not be coming back. The stylists here are very condescending. I found another salon where I can get my hair done for a cheaper price and where the stylists don’t have such an attitude.

First haircut was not symmetrical (not something I’d asked for) but I went back one more time to a different stylist. When I asked for a bit of purple in my hair the stylist told me that was «really hard» and I left with some maroon pieces. Funny how another salon in the area could do the exact color I wanted at less than half the price. Won’t be headed back.

I stumbled upon this salon through a groupon for a manicure/​pedicure, and what a find this has been. My first manicure/​pedicure was back in early May with Emily and I have been back for regular standing appointments ever since. She is absolutely phenomenal and takes her time to make the service relaxing yet professional at the same time. She never rushes the service and she and I have actually formed a friendship through our chatting while she does my manicures and pedicures. I highly recommend Emily and Alera Salon to anyone looking for a classy spa experience.

Waxing, massage, manicures, pedicures, hair cuts and color, you name it and I have had it done at Alera. These women are extremely talented professionals. They focus on important details including continuing education with celebrity stylists to assure top quality in all of the latest trends. They have the cleanest facility I have been to in the greater Pittsburgh area and their consultations are in depth to ensure that I get exactly what I want. Every time I visit Pennsylvania I make sure to stop in.

Cut was nice, but i would not return because the stylist was not friendly whatsoever, almost as if i was wasting her time by being there. I had not had a haircut in a while and she seemed annoyed by that. Sorry I don’t always have time to get a haircut every 4 to 6 weeks and wanted my hair to grow out a bit before another cut. Do I really even have to justify that? If she was friendlier, i’d probably be a repeat customer, which equals money in their pockets. It always boggles my mind when a stylist is not friendly. There are so many salons, give your customers a reason to come back…
Reception was courteous and the salon was clean, so two stars for that.

Just had awesome ultrasound facial with Angela. The entire experience was heavely her technique and use of all the Aveda products was so relaxing and uplifting. Schedule a return visit next month

I saw Christine for a haircut. It was ok, i’ve had better. I felt like I was in a super cuts or something, and I nevr go to those types of places. There’s no professionalism here, (bad conversation topics) and it definately does not give the «salon» vibe. Christine seemed unsure of herself and kept telling me everything she was going to do, like she needed to repeat it to herself. I didn’t like that. The number one trait I look for in a stylist is confidence, and I didnt feel it with her. The haircut, was ok, like I said ive had better. After, I went up and needed to buy some shampoo and conditionor, she didnt know what she was talking about. I just picked one, and checked out. I wont be back. Really pissed that the shamp and cond was $ 44 dollars too. rediclious, I could have bought some Bumble and Bumble instead.

I had my haircut by Michelle for the first time last weekend when I called and was able to get a same day appointment. The salon feels high end and the staff are very friendly. They offer you drinks when you come in and also took my coat. My only complaint was that the sinks at the washing station had some residual hair left over from a previous client, but that in my opinion is pretty minor. Michelle did an excellent job with my cut and understood exactly what I wanted. I will definitely be coming back in the future.

Love Alera! Excellent service, beautiful salon, super clean and super nice stylists. Taunya gives me wonderful haircuts, exactly what I want, and is great fun to talk to also. I couldn’t be happier to have found Alera. The Streets at Cranberry is a very nice shopping area also.

I love this place! I have gotten hair cuts and hair color here and have had great experiences. The salon is clean, fresh, and modern– i always relax when I am here and that is what I love to do when getting my hair done. The receptionists are very friendly and accommodating. Two times I have been a walk-​in and both times they were able to fit me in! I plan to try more services here in the future.

I have been going to this salon for over two years and have had nothing but wonderful experiences. The owner has been there on the premises and even did my hair once. If you want blonde blonde BLONDE hair, this is the place to go. The color is amazing, so much better than I had even imagined it could be. The staff is young, talented, and willing to listen and make suggestions. I always get compliments on my new cut and color after visiting. I’ve also had conditioning treatments, gel color on nails, and eyebrow waxing (which was the best I’ve had.) The desk staff has never been anything but courteous and accommodating since I regularly have to reschedule due to child care conflicts. It’s funny that I received a gift card to my former salon in the South Hills at the same time I discovered Alera, and ended up spending it on Aveda products because I wouldn’t dare go back there for hair service. If you are new to the area as I was, give this place a try.

Went here a few months back for a man’s cut and it was BAD. Almost like a double bowl cut — like they put a big bowl on my head. cut around it, then put a smaller bowl on and cut around that. Also, she did a poor job of cutting the top, particularly in the front. It kept falling down into my eyes, and I do not like the Hugh Grant look! And expensive for what I got. I don’t mind paying for a good cut, but I didn’t get it here!

I’m used to going to Saks in NYC to get my haircut. I was visiting my parents and needed to get my haircut and my mom told me to go here. I was skeptical seeing that I pay 3 times the price at Saks. Good atmosphere. Fantastic haircut with Joelle– I asked for something very specific. Great price. VERY satisfied!
