Food is great! Just don’t come too early, service sucks. I watched two diff people sit down and leave because waitress wouldn’t come (she seemed preoccupied with a matter on the phone). Would rate 5 stars if it wasn’t for the crappy service.

I can’t believe this place hasn’t closed down. We ate here once and received awful service that was over a decade ago. I decided to give it a try again because it’s the closest Mexican restaurant near my home. The waiter was borderline rude, he seemed to be annoyed for having to serve us. I was there with my son and his girlfriend, we waited for almost an hour to get our food. There were empty tables; it wasn’t even busy. The food was mediocre and the portions were very small. I ordered the Tablita which came with chorizo, carne Asada and Cornish hen. The meat was not skirt steak it was a very thin cut of meat, maybe Milanesa, and they gave me 1 inch size of chorizo. I don’t understand the positive reviews. People have very low standards. So disappointed… I learned my lesson.

Worst place I have ever visited. I have never taken the time to write a review on Unilocal but La Parillada earned it! They had us waiting for our food for over an hour with no explanation. During the wait I noticed other customers had issues with mixed up or wrong orders coming out of the kitchen. I finally asked the server what the hold up was. She informed me that they had issues in the kitchen. I asked what issues, and she stated that they were busy and serving others that came before me. I thought ok, looked around and noticed many tables were empty and asked so how much longer will we have to wait… she said «I don’t know»… I thought, after already waiting for more than one hour!..(Wrong answer!!!) I took my family and walked out after offering to pay for our drinks. BEWARE! Please avoid this place if you are hungry and want to eat!!!

Absolutely GREAT food! I had the Chilaquilles with steak and beans, also café de Olla. Had made tortillas and salsa. I truly recommend this restaurant! I will be coming back. 2 thumbs up!! Yay! Happy tummy! BTW also homemade church’s and excellent customer service.

I love love looooovvveeee this lil place. They have amazing food and drinks, real authentic Mexican flavors on a lot of the menu. The service at times can be very slow, but be patient it is worth the wait for this deliciousness! One time I ordered the siete mares, seafood soup, omg sooooo good but I think it took almost 25 – 30 mins to arrive to my table, again I say well worth it! At Least I was there with a good friend also we waited and talked and drank, all fun! A few days ago, I brought my niece and nephew to have dinner here. They are from Mexico and have been slightly disappointed in our Mexican food here in the US. Of course it doesn’t compare and I know first hand al pastor tacos have literally been ruined for me since visiting Mexico, they have the BEST!!! Anyway back to my review, my niece and nephew approved of La Parilliada de Covina! I’m so glad they enjoyed it, in Covina I only have 2 favorite Mexican spots and this is one!!! Handmade tortillas, delicious pina coladas and micheladas, authentic dishes and delicious taste!

I love this place! Soooo good and the staff is so happy and friendly! The strawberry margarita was absolutely perfect. Everything is really good. The queso fundido is addicting. Tonight I had the pork verde! Not something I would normally order, but I was happy I did. It was so amazing!

The food wasn’t 5 stars but the waiter was probably one of the best I’ve had in a long time. He got the 5 stars. I ordered the tampiqueña and it was a little burnt. The michelada was ok but the agüas frescas were awesome. They also had mariachi for a bit. Not bad.

Good stuff! Some handmade art and décor displayed. Warm atmosphere and tasty food. Mariachi on Friday nights. Sunday brunch available.

I love this place! The food is amazing, I ordered the carne asada plate and it was one of the best carne asadas I have ever had. I also ordered the classic lime margarita over rocks and the blended strawberry margarita, they were delicious.
They play great music, like merengue, salsa, cumbia etc. They also have mariachis on the weekends, Im definitely going back for that. The décor in the restaurant is very authentic, you feel like you’re in Mexico. Service is amazing, very nice people.
As you can tell, I love this restaurant. I absolutely recommend this place for date night or fun night with friends sipping on margaritas and listening to great music.

Amazing food! My husband got the chili colorado and said it was one of the best he has ever had. I got the Carne asada tacos and menudo and it was excellent. The Carne Asada was fresh and so flavorful. The menudo was one of the best I have had. The waiter and waitress were so friendly and made out first trip here a great one. We talked to one of the managers and she explained everything made here was fresh ingredients, and you can definitely tell. I recommend this place to eat.

Excellent, and exceptional service. .will definitely be back. The food was delicious the coffee was the boom. All my family was so happy ABOUT the food being delicious. This place a gem.

Been here 2 times. We once came for Sunday breakfast and it was very good. We did do the buffet and it was worth the money. They have very good café de olla… Cinnamon cream coffee. They also have good flan. Would def return here. Also if you like mariachi band then this is a good place for you.

This place isn’t very clean, soft drinks are flat, and it’s really hot as if their AC doesn’t work pretty disappointed. The only reason I’m giving a star is because the waiter tried to comfort us. Not coming back

The best word to describe this restaurant is: AUTHENTIC. Delicious selection of Mexican traditional dishes, homemade tortillas, chicken mole, plus tacos, enchiladas, and seafood. My favorite is the mocajete combos for two. Not many restaurants offer this incredible meal, it is filled with chicken, steak picado, nopales, cheese, chorizo, cheese and salsa. Try it for yourself

Excelente servicio, la comida muy deliciosa y muy buena selección de bebidas. Tortillas hechas a mano. Además celebraron especialmente a las mamas ya q les dieron regalos hechos en México para esta ocasión.

This is my new favorite place! Came here for the first time on Cinco De Mayo… Service was great, food was delicious, and my Margarita was strong. Can’t wait to come back again!
*Just a note to the restaurant if they read this: Take down the old previous holiday décor and deflated balloons hanging from the ceiling… not a nice look.

Decided to come here for Cinco de Mayo. BTW no specials on food just drinks pretty pricey. I ordered the caldo de res it actually looked good until I found a piece of something in my soup. It looked like it was part of a band-​aid the waitress later informed me it was only plastic wrapping from the meat… it blended well with the cabbage if a child was eating the soup there would have been complications. We also found a BLACK eyelash in the beans our toddler son was eating. His eyelashes are Blonde not BLACK!!! DEFINITELY BAD ALL AROUND!

Hoy célèbre el 5de mayo en mi lugar favoritto la parrillada de covina todo estuvo genial mariachi de primera servicio genial y ni que hablar de la comida molcajete muy delicioso :) y lo mejor de lo mejor margaritas por solo $ 3.00 woo wooo thank u for ur service…

I’m sure the food is good but I’ll never know. Nothing worse than taking 20 minutes on Unilocal,trying to decide what restaurant and what to order only to find out they advertise delivery but don’t offer delivery when you order! Doh!

Este lugar es fabuloso!!! El café de olla es delicioso, les recomiendo que lo prueben, casi todos los domingos estoy en este lugar!!! La comida esta deliciosa!!!

Was very impressed with first visit here. Great service, good food, and a nice authentic Mexican style atmosphere.
After the chips & salsa, they served a complimentary lentil soup, which on a chilli night like tonight, hit the spot.
Unlike other places, they serve hand made tortillas here. They’re made on the spot to fill each order.
Michelada drink was delicious as well.
What made the experience even better was having the mariachi’s singing live for each table. They weren’t even charging, guess the owner hires the group from time to time. Felt fortunate to have been entertained by them.
Definitely recommend and will return in the near future. Owners and staff were very friendly and make one feel welcomed.
