Hello folks. Just an update to advise that the Verde Valley Wine Company has joined the ranks of business that are no longer open. They closed at some point in 2009. My experiences there were so-so. Food was a bit over priced and nothing out of the ordinary. It was«Cottonwood food at Sedona prices». No new business has opened at this location as of 1⁄2010.

Drove by on way to Jerome, thought this looked like a nice stop to try some wines.(what a huge mistake). While my 2 french tastings were being poured(they charge for each & every taste, btw), I went to look at the retail bottles available. 3 caught my eye: 2 blends & a cab. I asked the clerk what he thought of them, he proceded to put on airs & in a snobby way, made me feel completely inferior by reading the labels to me — FYI: i can {and did} read as well —(I’m a tiny bit of a wine snob, so i took great offence at being treated at such a primary level — although i didn’t let on any of my wine knowledge). I simply asked what was his opinon, he rudely replied if i like cabs to pick it, otherwise if i like blends then pick the blend.(DUH!!!) omg, i couldn’t get out of there fast enough — i tried to remain calm, barely touched my 2 charged ‘tastings’, paid & promptly left. Is it just me, or is it not ok to ask questions in a store about products you desire to purchase if you haven’t heard of them or would like an opinion of those who sell the product, be it food, wine, make-up, housewares, ect. !!!

We had several selections from their sampler menu, nothing overly spectacular, but of the 40 or so, we only tasted about 12 different wines. Their appetizers, however, were very tasty, and I am very interested in going back and having a full meal. They also had an extremely well stocked wine store that I will be making purchases from. Additionally, they had a small but nice bar area, and the rest of the seating of the restaurant was very nicely appointed.
