Caitlyn gave me an excellent cut. I had a Groupon so it’s always hit or miss. You just cross your fingers and hope for the best. The blow out she gave me was also great, I’m on the 3^rd day and it still looks good. She gave me a card for a discount on the next cut which I just might use. I’ve been salon hopping for so many years it might be nice to stick to one stylist for a little while.
The salon is right up the street from Trader Joe’s in the more industrial area of 17^th street. There is plenty of parking and the salon itself is modern and cheerful with a friendly vibe going on. Caitlyn’s prices are on par with what hairdressers charge in this area. Good cuts are worth the money in my opinion. I’ve had enough bad haircuts in my lifetime to know a good cut when I get one.

Got introduced by Groupon with an amazing deal for cut and highlights. The atmosphere is beautiful and Jessica was a breath of fresh air. Great conversation and she did an amazing job I love my hair and can’t wait to return when I get a chance to be in Newport again. Thank you Jessica!

My first time at this salon went splendidly:) I was introduced by Groupon and I’m so glad I did. I was in dire need of a haircut since my hair was overly processed from previous salons/​my own at home bleach sessions.
Jessica Rodde was my stylist and all I told her I’d like to trim my split ends and get rid of some damage. With that she confidently trimmed my hair and added some layers and my hair looks refreshed! She recommended some products I could get through Amazon for my porous hair. I’m going to take her advice and buy them. I’m not much of a social talker at salons and she seemed to understand and made me feel comfortable.
Based on today’s experience I plan on going back to see her for regular hair cuts and when I plan to dye my hair (which will be soon).

Ally is an absolute sweetheart and super talented stylist. She took into account the look I was going for and gave me suggestions that she thought would work for me. She executed a beautiful cut that I’m in love with. I will most definitely be back!

So far, I am extremely annoyed with this Salon and I haven’t even been able to make an appointment. I purchased a Groupon for a cut and partial highlight and have been calling the salon for 3 days trying to schedule an appointment. I’ve left voicemails and called repeatedly but no one answers the phone. When I finally got through to someone they instructed me to call a DIFFERENT number for Groupon appointment scheduling. This is a huge red flag to me that they have no intention of treating new referrals from Groupon the same as their regular customers. Yet another voicemail later (shocking), I still have no appointment with this salon.
Update: A few hours after leaving a voicemail with the «Groupon appointment scheduling line» I receive a call back and am told that I can ONLY schedule appointments with this individual on her dedicated line Monday’s for the upcoming week. Since today is Wednesday, I have to call next Monday and IF they have availability, they will fit me in. The fact that I already called on Monday and received no response, not their issue. WTH?! Talk about having to jump through hoops to get a haircut. If this is how you treat first time customers why would we EVER come back? I cancelled my Groupon and have no intent to visit this salon now or ever. Buyer beware!

I had my hair cut here for the first time by Ally. Have not had my hair cut in over a year. She re-​styled it, and it came out amazing. I havent received so many compliments in regards to my hair, Ever! I greatly recommend her for your next style and cut. Also they have great hair product there as well.

Bought a Groupon and made an appointment for Caitlin this past Saturday. Upon entering the salon, the ambiance was abstract meets modern. I had to wait for a little bit since Caitlin was finishing up with 2 clients, but I did not mind at all since beauty takes time.
I came in not knowing what to expect, but came out pleasantly surprised. Caitlin did a wonderful job on asking and explaining what to do with my hair. IWe decided to tone my hair from my previous balayage and had my hair trimmed for split and dry ends. I love how Caitlin used multiple round brushes to blow dry and style my hair.
The end result was fantastic with my hair with volume and looking radiant. Caitlin even offered a discount for a friend and me for the next time I get my hair done. I definitely recommend Caitlin if you prefer a stylist who knows what they are doing.

All hail Caitlin! I got my hair cut and styled by this beauty after purchasing a Groupon for a last minute cut because I was so desperate, my hair was so blah and damaged and she did a fantastic job! Not only that, but she was incredibly friendly and welcoming, she’s my new go to gal here in the OC without a doubt!

Bought the basic groupon for just a cut. Caitlin was amazing. Right when I walked in she greeted me and offered me coffee or tea while she finished up her previous appointment because I arrived early. Ive never had my hair cut in a salon and she made me feel comfortable right away. Love my hair and she was super friendly and easy to talk to. Highly recommend her!

Love. Love. Love this place. Jessica is a fantastic stylist and and even better person (if that’s possible). I was in definite need of tlc and she delivered above and beyond. I had such a great time chatting with her. I felt like we’ve known each other for years. The entire salon has a family feel. From the way they treat their clients to the way they all work together. This place has a fantastic energy and I will definitely be back to see Jessica.

I’ve been a regular client of Sonar and absolutely would recommend! He performs magic!!! And is the nicest person! I love coming in, it is always a GREAT experience.

I had my hair done by Caitlin who is the most amazing hair stylist! Now that we are getting closer and closer to Summer I really was looking for something lighter and Caitlin did just that! Her work is amazing and she is so detail oriented. I am extremely pleased with my balayage ombré and I can’t wait to come back to put some fun colors into my hair. Personally, I love coming to someone I can trust to get the job done right and Caitlin is just that!

I was referred to Caitlin when I was thinking about getting my hair done. I wanted a very natural, flattering balayage and Caitlin did just that!!! Although the most important thing in getting your hair cut and colored is, well, how well it turns out– but it’s also the atmosphere and environment you’re in. Caitlin offered coffee and made me feel comfortable as she was working on my hair. We had great conversation and I ended up leaving with my hair looking the best it has ever been after getting my hair done. I’m looking forward to getting my hair done by her again!

I have had my hair done by Caitlin a few times and her work is wonderful. Every time I see her she does my cut and color and always does an excellent job. She is great with cuts, but her coloring work is especially good. She is such a sweet person and makes your time with her fun and relaxing! If you go to Sonash, definitely make an appointment with Caitlin!

I needed to get the bottom of my hair shaped and some highlights around my face. My daughter is getting married next week and there will lots of pictures. I made an appointment with Soner. When I arrived I was told that Antonio would be doing my hair. I should have left then. When he was done I had many layers short short hair and dark lowlights. The blond was gone. He did not listen to anything that I had said or the pictures I brought in. This hair cut will be in pictures forever and I will cringe every time I see it!!! Disappointed doesn’t even begin to express how I feel.

One of the worst haircuts I have ever received. Went in just for a trim and thinning, but left with 2 inches of my hair chopped off and a whole lot of ugly layers. I trusted Antonios advice and let him do what he wanted. Biggest mistake ever. On top of my ugly haircut he also advised me to cut of my hairs that are not supposed to be there. So now I’m stuck with short hair and this ugly bald spot.

Today I purchased a Groupon and made an appointment with Antonio (Tony) and I am so glad I did!
When I walked in I was greeted immediately and within seconds I was shaking Tony’s hand. He asked me a series of questions to get to know my hair and gave me a couple of options for long layers. I felt really comfortable with him and could tell that he knows what he is doing.
We had a great discussion and it made the time fly. I left with the best haircut I’ve ever had and I made sure to take his card so that I could come back again.
Don’t let the other reviews scare you, he’s a very good stylist so it’s natural that his days are busy with clients. I’d wait and pay full price for another amazing haircut by Tony.
