Saturday evening decided to have an order delivered. Decided to try some pasta dishes and was very disappointing. I think we are going to stick with the pizza but what a waste of money that night. Husband’s Alfredo sauce was very runny and my eggplant was just layered on top of each other(soggy) with cheese on top. Had a smidgen of sauce on pasta that came with the eggplant… what happened with putting the sauce on the eggplant like every other Italian restaurant. The girl that took my ordered seemed in a hurry to take my order, maybe why I didn’t receive part of my order that she didn’t hear me say and never said it came with salad and asked what type of dressing we wanted… At least there was dressing in the bags, just can’t figure out what they were… anyways Pizza very good. .Pasta no good.

We were barely out of their delivery zone and whoever answered the phone agreed to take our order. I really appreciate how kindly I was treated. I’ve been looking for a great NY style Italian restaurant for so long now and I’m happy to say I found the place. I will gladly pick up food from this place in the future when I want some yummy food. Thank you for helping us out. :)

I LOVE pizza. If I have one weakness in life it would be pizza. I can never get enough of it. This place is great. Close to my place and the service is prompt. I have only eaten here once though because I do like to try different ones, but we got a small pizza here and it was delicious. Not very greasy which they usually are at a lot of places, it really goes a long way if they just dab some of the grease off here and there but there was no problem here on our end. It is pretty standard and nothing over the top with my experience here. The girl on the phone was young and seemed annoyed rushing me off the phone which is part of the reason we havent been back yet. Small quaint place, cheap pricing. Who can REALLY complain

I grew up my whole life in NY, and since I’ve moved to OC, pizza was a huge disappointment, until my coworkers introduced me to Al’s. This place is Brooklyn all the way! If you want the NY style pizza experience this is the place. Every time I eat here, I swear I close my eyes, take a bite of a plain slice of pie, and I feel like I’m back where I grew up.

Great place and great portion. I think I have been here before but felt like Italian food and talked my wife into it. I called right before they were open and a had ordered a couple Lasagna’s they had left. I asked about the size and the guy said no one complains about the portions and now I see why. I ended up eating all of mine and now feel like a fat slob but at least I feel like a satisfied fat slob. We will definitely be going here again! Thanks Al for the great authentic Italian food!

Don’t get me wrong, the pizza was great! The problem I had was this: We ordered online and requested delivery. Al’s uses a third-party site for their online ordering. When our order arrived, the delivery guy would not leave until we gave him«some gratuity». He told us that since they use a third-party online ordering service, they don’t get all of the money and kept insisting we give him a tip. Then when we offered him some, he insisted on more. If using a third-party system is such a problem, don’t use it. I have no problem tipping, but demanding«some gratuity» is hardly a tip… That is more of an added fee. I will never eat at Al’s Café again and I will be telling everyone of my experience.

This is a diamond in the rough! Great little pizza spot with good food including deli sandwiches. I stopped to get a bag of chips at 7 – 11 next door and the smell of pizza dragged me. I couldn’t resist! I’ll be back for sure.

I’m really tempted to give it 1 star just so fewer people want to eat here, but I’m not that selfish. This is hands-down the best delivery pizza I’ve had in California. Yay for living in their delivery area! We’ve also never been quoted a delivery time of more than 45 minutes, and we’ve never gotten a delivery late. What more can you ask for in a pizza place?

Obliged my request for no cheese and no sauce(and instead just olive oil and topings). Nodded in agreement — bare pizza is better than no pizza. Better for take-out as dine-in area is kind of small. Plus, they leave the door open(probably for the delivery person to come and go), so it’s quite chilly at night. Note the hours — on the day I called, he wasn’t open until after 4:00PM. Maybe it was because of the holiday weekend. Not sure.

I’m not a pizza person. But when my bf took me here! Omg. it’s one of the best pizza I’ve had!!! If you ever had the Cosmo secret pizza place in Vegas, it tastes close to it. It’s actually better! =) I love their pizza because it’s thin crust and everything about it just makes it so yummy! I also had their baked ziti. Yum! They also have combo deals and specials everyday! I would drive down here just for their pizza! Customer service is also great! Always to please =)

Al’s New York café reminds me of places I went to growing up back east. Some days me and my employees just want a slice and a coke and this is only place to get it. The pie is New York style thin crust with just the right amount of grease. If you are looking for a hipster gluten free pizza shaped food item, there are plenty of other places to go in Costa Mesa. More slices for the rest of us who appreciate a place that makes you feel like you’re in NYC or Brooklyn. Savannah is the best.

Love the pizza! I’m a simple kind of gal when it comes to the toppings… Pepperoni and done! I got a little adventurous one day and stepped it up in the toppings department… I got pepperoni AND garlic! Crazy i know… it was great! What really makes the pizza great is the crust… that’s where I get picky. What I hate; thin and crunchy, thick and overdone. What I love is thin, soft, and floppy, and that’s what you get here! That might not be for everyone, but that’s what I prefer.

Al’s is nothing fancy and is in a somewhat hidden strip mall. I ordered a slice of pepperoni for $ 3.00. Al’s does one of the better New York style slices that I have had in OC. The slice is a very good size. And, the crust was very good with a fresh and doughy flavor with a nice texture. The portion of cheese was generous and the pepperoni toppings were generous as well. It was an excellent slice.

$ 3 pepperoni pizza?! Shut the front door!!! Haha. This little mom and pop shop pizza place is really a diamond in the rough. The pizza here has that unmistakeable crunchy sound when you bite into it, and the cheese just oozes in your mouth… Heaven I tell you. There’s plenty of parking, the staff is super friendly… I went here before I went to NYC and I went back after my trip to NyC… It’s better here. Sorry Apple… TIP: PiZZA!!!
