Amazing place. The fact that it was full of locals that all knew Sada speaks volumes to the quality of this place. I started with my favorites, a tall Asahi with some squid and octopus. Both were very fresh and tender. Next round was the hamachi and fresh chinook salmon. Both were exceptional. For desert, two pieces of toro. Unbelievable meal and for much cheaper than you would expect. I may stay in Corvallis regularly just so I can eat here again.

Best Sushi place ever. The food is always great and the ambiance cozy, casual, yet classy somehow. Service is great and accommodating. Just wish that some waitresses would not speak to us as we are three year olds. I don’t like the look and brightness of the new fish tanks. There are Clown-fish who need anemones to thrive but they are not in there. I am big on animal welfare, no matter big, small, land or water species.

The place was a huge disappointment after having read the reviews on here. I’m not sure if they’d been written by college students who are just starting to try out foreign cuisines or what but don’t buy into the hype: this place is not great at all. The presentation was sub par, the sashimi had a weird color and the place itself seemed unclean. Never eating there again.

Disappointing… the takeout sushi options were very limited, and what we got was just OK. The fish had very little flavor and everything tasted bland, save for the kick from the wasabi that’s smeared on EVERY roll. I love wasabi, but I was sick of it by the end of the meal, and it felt like they put it on there to mask the otherwise bland sushi. From other reviews, it sounds like dining in might be a much better experience. There simply wasn’t enough in my first take out experience to make me want to give it another try, though.

It’s cute and tasty. The portions are a decent size, I usually have a little bit of leftovers(about enough for a snack, not a full meal). The food is a little on the more expensive side for casual diners, but it’s good and the atmosphere is warm. They have little rooms for reserved parties, and I’ve always enjoyed having a group dinner at Sada. Their sushi is good. Also a little more expensive, but good! On a scale of hovering around the table and never once seeing you, the waiting staff is more toward the distant side. If you’re someone like me, who drinks like 5 gallons of water after every bite, it’s a little troublesome. But if you don’t mind it, no big deal. Parking is a tad of a hassle, but generally if you go off-peak hours, you can grab a spot right out front.

Food was good and lunch prices were excellent. Portions were decent size. I had the tonkatsu bento box and the rest of our party had some sashimi, a veggie bento box and the salmon bento box. We did have one veggie bento box and we were told to switch out the California roll for a veggie roll it would cost an extra $ 0.50. That didn’t make a lot of sense but when the bill came there was no additional cost. They also brought out the veggie dish with shrimp on it, but caught it at delivery and brought out more veggie tempura. Overall the experience was pleasant and I will go back again when we are back in town if we want some sushi.

Overpriced sushi. The Oregon roll had a satisfying crunch but the measly portion for $ 9 left me largely unsatisfied. The hot pot was adequate, but tainted with traces of MSG.

No doubt about it, this is by far the best sushi in Benton, Polk, or Marion Counties. We particularly enjoyed the Newport Roll. I’m often hesitant to eat sushi so far from the coast, but Sada is the exception to the rule. It’s a nicely lighted, pleasant, intimate space, particularly at the sushi bar. The chefs are professional and pleasant. What a gem in a town notable for its limited quality dining options.

This is one of my favorite sushi restaurants. The quality of sushi is as good as it gets. Sure, I can find a couple of restaurants in NYC that are just as good, but the price here is probably half of what it costs in NYC, if not less.

My favorite Japanese/sushi restaurant to go to in town. The quality of the food here is Definately worth the money. Fresh and flavorful every time. The underground atmosphere is so unique and makes this place an all around great place to eat.

This is my second time I have been to Sada. The first was the day of Oregon States graduation and it was quite crowded. The food was up to par however the service was not the greatest with waiters/waitresses only coming to check up on us when they took our order, gave us our food, and gave the check. They maybe filled out water without asking once and the rest of the time we needed to ask them. So I was back in Corvallis and wanted some Japanese food. My friends wanted somewhere somewhat affordable for college students with decent food. I ordered the yudofu which essentially is just tofu and veggies in a Shabu shabu broth served with rice. I actually don’t think it comes with rice and you have to ask for some which I did. It was decent and there was what seemed to be a whole block of tofu inside the broth. My friends ordered the udon, oyaku don, hamachi kama, spider roll, and one requested a vegetarian sort of meal which they were happy to accommodate for her. Everyone’s bill was under $ 13 and I think that that’s pretty decent for a good Japanese meal. One thing I must comment again however is the service. Once we were seated we waited about 15 mins before anyone came to check on us or even offer us something to drink. The waiters/waitresses who were doing nothing looked at us a couple of times and didn’t say anything. The staff really needs to be a little more aware of their customers and tend to them right away or as soon as possible.

You get what you pay for. Limited menu with some specialty items. Nigiri and sashimi seem slightly over priced compared to the serving size. Wasabi and ginger is better than other places but soy sauce could be better. Service is average especially during busy evening hours.

Good sushi good ramen but a bit over priced. The snake eye was very interesting with the raw quail egg and all the rolls we ordered were delicious. Came here on a weekend when OSU had an event and they still got my group seated fast but with slow food service.

Ah, Sada… I’m hurt. Hurt by the fact that you didn’t exist during my college years because I would have been your regular. I would have hunkered down with my closest friends throwing back sake, eating the finest of fish you had to offer, devouring your delicious katsu curry, and drinking Sapporo all while enjoy the miso mackerel. And I would have done this on routine, every Thursday evening. Why Thursday? I wasn’t a partier and you aren’t a partier either. Your ambience embraces quality over quantity — in the essence of friends, food, and service. However, I’ve deducted a star because the delay of allowing us to pay on our recent visit — service was great until then as we had to wave down a different server for our tab and 2 servers would stare at our card as they passed without a word. When comparing Sada to the availability of sushi in Corvallis, Sada outshines them all. In all seriousness, I wish Sada had existed when I attended college in town — but I’ll accept that my visits are limited to when I’m visiting for the weekend. The food is affordable and almost at level to the selections available in the Portland area. You could definitely tell the effort put into the sushi rolls — it has a loving feeling to it that doesn’t feel rushed. I would disagree that they were very small, but on par to size of sushi from places in Portland like Mio or Yuki’s. We ordered the saba misoni, pork katsu curry, shrimp sunomono, and a roll — between the two of us this was greatly satisfying and not at all overdoing it. The saba misoni was by far my favorite and was almost as good as Syun’s in Hillsboro. Will I come back? Definitely. Service will need a little tweaking, but outside of that — keep up the great work, Sada.

Sada is absolutely delicious! My husband and I have been to Sada often enough for some of the servers to recognize us. Our first visit we deemed Sada the best sushi in Corvallis– nice for us since we’re spent time in San Diego with a LOT of sushi options! Sada outperforms the other sushi places in Corvallis and many of the other places we’ve been(Newport, Hillsboro, and Portland). The atmosphere is nice as well. Service is a bit slow, but I’ve never been to a sushi place that is fast! Favorite izakaya– Hamachi(Yellowtail collar), marinated seaweed Favorite sushi — wasabi roll, negihama

I have been here a few times. As a sushi lover, I have been to many different sushi places in different states and cities. For Corvallis, this is the best sushi in town. However, as a sushi fan, I noticed some flaws with their food that made me a little disappointed. The biggest problem I had was with the size of the rolls. They are very small, but priced the same as they would be in larger portions in another good sushi place. The two end rolls have little to no fish in them, but have little sprouts coming out to look decorative and hide the emptiness of the roll. Essentially you are paying for 8 larger pieces, but get 6 small ones, and two balls of rice with sprouts in the ends. I don’t know if its to save money filling those two ends, or lack of skill in the chefs. Seems like a cheap cop out to me, was not a fan. They have a good menu for all types, sushi lovers and everyone else. Cool more uncommon items on the menu, like sea urchin.

Love the ambience of the restaraunt. The food was superb and service was decent. It probably had to do with it being a busy sunday evening. I ordered: hiyashi wakame, saki maki, godzilla roll and the ika and ebi nigiri. Would’ve been nice to have been told the daily special by the waiter because I didn’t notice the sign until we exited the restaruant; it’s placed by the sushi bar. During that time duration our drinks were not refilled. Finished my meal with the delicious lychee ice cream(yummy). Will go in the near future to try the other dishes!

We had a reserved area in the restaurant that a Japanese friend booked for us. Even though the service was slow(we arrived there by the end of lunch time), the food was amazing. I’m so sad I’m leaving corvallis in one week so that I can’t go there one more time! The service was spectacular, matching the attentive Japanese culture.

Here’s the scenario: It’s the night before Thanksgiving I’m starving Nothing is open I’m about to eat my shoe Break out Unilocal app Sada is open! Sushi rolls, miso soup, udon — oh my! For what it is(sushi bar in a tiny college town), it wasn’t half bad! And for being open the night before a major holiday shutdown, it was quite the pleasant surprise.
