One of our favorite Asian fusion restaurants. Great, friendly service. The food is always delicious. Ask for there homemade chili if you want a nice hot kick! Line gets long so be prepared to wait. Just know-it is so worth the wait!

I have had several good dinners at Burmatown and finally got off my donkey to write a review. I come here with my bride and my #2 son and his wife and 5 year old daughter. Mike was our server. He always comes through with a QUICK hit of fries to keep the 5 year-old from melting down, and a glass of wine to keep grandpa calm. My bride and I started with some appetizers in sequence akin a meal of small plates * Kimchi Potstickers 8.5 * Chili Garlic Green Beans 6 * Garlic Noodles 6 And then we had ANOTHER plate of potstickers because grandpa and granddaughter only left one for grandma and she was getting testy ;-) I had a glass of the Peachy Canyon Zinfandel to start, and then the Pedroncelli Russian River Pinot 12 as my second. My bride and I shared a dessert and it was dandy. I can’t remember the name. Maybe something to do with that glass of Pinot? We got here at the ungodly hour of 4:45 pm to keep the DGD from hitting her 5 pm meltdown and the place was PACKED. And no, there is no blue hair special that causes that ;-) Nice folks, good food, an ambiance that can be a bit loud at times and always fun(unless you are waiting outside on a cold day for a table to open up).

Owner run and food is great but they need to work on hospitality. Went once and was able to make phone reservation on a Sat night… despite some confusion with host, who told us we were next and then sat another party before us, with no explanation… the food was so good, I overlooked the service fauxpas, & gave full stars. Called last Sat to make a reservation/get on wait list and the server refused to take reservations on a Sat and said there was a wait in person and would not add us to list. So guess what – we didn’t go. If we can’t make reservations for a small, busy restaraunt we simply will eat elsewhere. The food was great and lovely little restaraunt, but not so good I am going to sit two hours on a bench outside waiting to get in. Reservations please.

Burmatown is my favorite $$ restaurant in Marin, hands down. It’s tiny, and parking can be a challenge on a Friday night, but it’s worth it. The short ribs are incredible, the ambiance a little noisy and somewhat crowded, but it all adds to the charm of this gem in Corte Madera.

Everything here was amazing! Glad we stopped by! Potsticker, fries, basil shrimp entrée, bbq noodle. Omg, so tasty. I feel so satisfied right now. We also got the coconut cake for dessert. We will come back when we are in town.

I had one of the best meals of my life here and I’ve had alot of meals. The wait staff and manager/executive chef couldn’t be nicer or more accommodating.

Super great food and people. Good is creative, tasty, and well-priced. Try the Angel Wings as well as the pot stickers. Just get there early enough to get a table.

I love this place. The food is amazing, the family running it are incredibly generous and nice. You immediately feel like family. I’m happy that this place has become so popular, but so sad that I have to wait now because this place has become so popular. I have yet to experience a bad dish here and can’t wait for the next round to specials that they come up with!

Loved the food! I wish the restaurant was bigger so that the wait was a little shorter, but it’s too popular to not have a wait. Loved the bao tacos, and the coconut rice was outstanding. I will be a return customer.

OK, by now you’ve probably read the reviews and thought, we must check this place out. My advice is to get there early when it opens. We didn’t eat lunch and were starving by the 4pm opening time. We literally licked our plates clean the food was so fresh and delicious. Why doesn’t Marin County have more places of this caliber? This BLOWSAWAY anything up here.

Every bit as good as all the reviews suggest. Very much worth a visit, we had waited too long for our first visit. Worth the wait but kicked ourselves for not coming in earlier Small set up, certainly less than 20 tables. Nice clean look. Service was very attentive and friendly Small wine a beer list, pretty sure no hard liquor, but the choices were good Food from apps to entrees were top notch. We tried a wide variety of items NONE disappointed. Short comings — bill can run high especially if you are having a drink; while items we had were excellent and warrant a quick return it could do with a periodic refresh(waiter said the menu had stayed pretty much the same since they first opened and that specials stuck for days/weeks); bookings can be tough at certain times and for +4 parties. All in all an excellent experience and worth a very quick return. My daughter has marked this as her new fave spot.

Oh boy where do I start?! Delicious! I can’t decide what my favorite dish is, that wouldn’t be fair. Tea leaf salad though, to point one thing out, amazing. I would go on and on but highly recommend you trying it for yourself. Btw, gets pretty crowed during dinner time, but don’t let that discourage you from going in in the later evening.

Saved my 200th review as well as the first review as a gold elite for my current favorite restaurant in Marin! The food here is absolutely amazing, and I find myself returning here again and again. They’ve been around for almost a year now, and they have definitely continued to refine the food they offer. I have been here enough that the manager recognizes us and knows that I am the one who always orders for the family. Favorite dishes: Tea Leaf Salad: Every time I come here, we order one to share. They give a little description of the dish every time they serve it, and I’ve almost heard it enough times to recite it with them! Angel Wings: This is probably my favorite appetizer! It is absolutely delicious(and I always wish there were more than 6 to each order). The crispy yet thin coating in conjunction with the tangy sauce is incredible. Side order of Garlic Noodles: This is a must-try! The side order uses a different noodle from their other types, that is substantially better.(I’m not as big of a fan of the pork noodles Chicken Curry Noodles: My mom really loves this dish — it has so many elements to it. It could use a bit more chicken curry, but the noodles complemented with the crispy veggies and mixed in a similar manner to the tea leaf salad makes for a very unique dish. Braised Short Rib Curry: One of my favorite entrees! The short ribs are cooked to be quite soft and tender, while the curry is rich in flavor. The sauce works well with the garlic noodles as well! Miso Black Cod in Dashi Broth: I enjoy this dish, but I am personally waiting to try the other fish specials they have to offer. After speaking with the manager, apparently we were lucky /unlucky enough as to always see this as the fish special whenever we visit. The cod portion has gotten noticeably smaller from the first time we ordered the dish however. Overall, this tiny little shop is a must-try in Marin. The food has great flavor and the staff are friendly(but often swamped nowadays with business). Their menu has been fairly consistent aside from a few specials now and then, but the quality is always excellent. Over this past year, it has gotten to be very busy with longer and longer waits, sometimes over an hour. They do not take reservations unless you have a party greater than 6, but you can call in ahead of time to check on how long the wait is.

The short: cozy place for delicious Asian fusion. I had finished a hike at Mt. Tam and was hungry for something before heading back home. It was dark and I had not been in this area before, so my GPS took me through winding residential roads, and I almost missed this spot! I was really confused because there were houses directly across the street and the place itself could be a pseudo-house. I knew it was the right place because I recognized the outside from a photo I saw. I eventually found parking a block away. There’s a clipboard to write down your name, party number, and phone number. I wrote mine down, just in case, but was seated right away. When I was seated, the place was packed! This place fits about 30 people. There were 2 – 3 large groups and a small smattering of 2– and 4-person tables. I decided on the Beef Short Rib with Potato. Everything was warm and tender and delicious with wonderful flavors. I’m particular about how my meat is cooked and wish it was cooked less, but the food still tasted wonderful, especially after finishing a hike. For next time, I’m curious about their Burmatown Baos and the Nan Pia Dok(chicken curry noodles). I’m not sure who stopped by asking how the food was. Perhaps it was the owner or manager? He stopped by tables asking how their meal was and made light small talk. Such a simple and gracious act! I feel like all small restaurants should follow Burmatown, making the environment cozy, warm, and comfortable. Side note: reservations only for groups of 6+ people.

OMG, I finally ate at this outstanding restaurant everyone’s been raving about. I totally understand the hype. We were the first customers of the New Year — woohoo! The nice owner took our picture, say«Burmatown» =) I’m definitely coming back for more next time. My son wasn’t too keen on salads, so we ordered the garlic noodles with BBQ pork, chicken wings, and potstickers. Everything was delicious. Marin finally has a Burmese restaurant, without the hassle of going to the city for Burma Superstar and Mandalay. As we all know, parking is horrendous in SF. The ambiance is cozy, warm, and inviting. Total hidden gem, I missed it and drove down to Perry’s. I’m used to this stretch of Corte Madera being all residential. It was a nice surprise to see this tiny restaurant in the middle of Corte Madera Ave. Service was on point with super friendly staff. Don’t forget to check out their specials on the board. The dishes were made with love, and my son loves the garlic noodles. He almost didn’t want to share. I don’t blame him, the portions aren’t big. Next time, I may have to order two. It’s nice to see more Asian Fusion restaurants in Marin. ‘Til we meet again ~ SYOY!!!

I want to start of by saying… Don’t be skeptical of Burmatown’s 5-Star rating like I was… Because they deserve every single star. Only reason I was skeptical is because my boyfriend and I had a not-so-pleasant first impression with the really popular Burma Superstar in SF(maybe because our expectations were let down by the food suggestions given by our waitress). So… we wanted to give this Burmese restaurant in Corte Madera a try, and I am so glad we did! ‘Twas such an amazing experience, so let me get into detail. Finger-licking-good appetizers(yes plural): 1) the baos(GETTHEBAOS), 3 mixed baos come in chicken, shrimp, and beef(ranked in order of our favorites), but you could also just order all 3 baos with one filling if preferred(~$ 16.50). 2) the angel chicken wings(comes with 6), most likely double fried, very crunchy and juicy, coated with an addicting sweet and savory sauce. Tasty, but I’d choose the baos over the wings(~$ 7.50). Entrees: *they have specials on the board, so check the board! 1) hoisin sauce baby back ribs with garlic udon noodles was my boyfriend’s entrée, and he loved it, but the ribs were a little dry to my liking. Maybe because I was a little oversauced from the chicken wings(which the server did warn). The garlic udon noodles were very good. 2) miso black cod in dashi broth, which was HEAVENLY. A couple pieces of black cod cooked to perfection, it just melts in your mouth, over a bed of baby bok choy, little mushrooms, snap peas, and daikon. Topped with red pickled ginger, bathed in the sweet dashi broth. It was so delicious, I didn’t want to finish because I didn’t want it to be gone. The portion is small, but worth the ~$ 19. Really friendly service: I don’t know if it’s because we came 15 minutes before closing, so we didn’t have to wait for a table and got lots of attention because there weren’t many tables left, but their family team of mama chef and sibling servers are super sweet. The girl(I’ll have to catch her name next time) was very helpful to suggest their best items, and I even got to personally give compliments to the chef! Atmosphere: It’s a cozy little restaurant, so it can get loud, but I love the decorations on the wall and simple center pieces for the tables. Water served in mason jars too. I highly recommend this place! Can’t wait to come back and try more items on the menu.

(Writing this while paying our bill) Yes, I know what you’re thinking, another 5 star review for this place. Yeah well, you know what? It really is that good. And being in Marin, that makes it especially unusual(it’s no secret that we aren’t exactly known for our restaurants). PRO: astonishing(unique) Asian cuisine — I’d never had Burmese food before — Tiger beer; spectacular deserts; super friendly service :) CON: um… always packed and they don’t take reservations? Truth be told, I don’t usually like restaurants with reservations, and we only had to wait about 10 mins(on super comfy seats just outside) so it’s all good :)

Good food, cool décor, VERY friendly service. We found the place on Unilocal because it was so highly rated. I went here on a date with my wife. We recommend some of the«small dishes», like the Garlic Noodles, the Chicken Wings and the TEa Leaf Salad. The pumpkin Squash and Shrimp dish were only okay. In hindsight, I didn’t know that the dishes were served mild by default. I was definitely expecting more spice. AMBIANCE ========== Simple and intimate but comfortable. It isn’t the fanciest décor, but it’s lack of fanciness is also reflected in the prices which were less than what I thought they would be. FOOD ====== GARLICNOODLES Very garlicky, but yummy and starchy. Nice portions RATING: 4⁄5 TEALEAFSALAD Between these and the angel wings, definitely my favorite Surprisingly a lot of protein despite being a vegetarian dish Very well balanced with lots of flavor, refreshing too. Nice portions RATING: 5⁄5 CRISPYGARLICANGELWINGS Crispy, sweet and spicy chicken wings. The sauce was to die. Nice portions RATING: 5⁄5 BASILSHRIMPSTIRFRY Simple dish with greens and nice shrimp, but I felt like there wasn’t a lot of flavor, only spice I was expecting a better dish, probably won’t order again. RATING: 2⁄5 COCONUTCHICKENCURRYWITHSQUASH It was yummy, kind of hearty, but not very spicy. Similar to the shrimp dish I was expecting much more flavor. Fairly bland. Ok portion, thought there would be a bigger serving. RATING: 3⁄5 PRICE /VALUE ======= Dinner for two with no alcohol and 5 dishes was about $ 65 SERVICE ========== It was VERY friendly service and oiur dishes were served on a timely basis 5⁄5

I don’t actually recall how we’d heard about Burmatown, but I still remember our first visit here and how everything just fit like a glove: the atmosphere, the food, the space & above all the great service. We were lucky to speak to Jennifer, who is one of the business owners; she and her mother have opened up this place a few months back. In fact, she told us a little bit about the story of how she and her Mom ended up embarking on this adventure and some of the hurdles that they had to overcome. Brave souls! Jennifer helped us also pick the right items from the menu(obviously everything her mother cooks is good) but there are certainly favorites and signature dishes. The fermented tea leaf salad, a classic at Burmese restaurants around town, is a definite hit. We loved it. But the best thing in the menu were the beef bao buns. I think you can compare them with Mexican tacos only in soft rice-dough buns and with Asian flavors. My partner and I are usually not wine drinkers when we go to a restaurant. But we had a celebration and so we decided to pop a bottle. Luckily, the wine prices here are really reasonable; I think we bought a bottle at 25 dollars. Why don’t more restaurants do this pricing? — On a more malty note, their Icelandic beer(which I had on another visit) is a hit as well. All in all, I’ve fallen in love with Burmatown. It’s great to see another«ethnic» restaurant joining the otherwise all-too-vanilla food options here in Marin.

Burmatown is a small, quaint neighborhood restaurant with about a dozen tables that specializing in Burmese/Asian Fusion cuisine. The restaurant has a mixture of modern décor with a large Burmese tapestry on one wall artwork. We came here with some good friends to celebrate Valentine’s Day. As with many restaurants on Valentine’s Day, Burmatown had a special prix fixe menu for this special day. The prix fixe menu included a choice of appetizer, a tea leaf salad, and a choice of entrée, and special dessert to finish the meal. Appetizers: Platha and dip — crispy multi-layered flaky bread with a chicken coconut dipping sauce. Reminded me of naan and it went well with the coconut sauce.( ) Minced chicken lettuce cups — nicely seasoned chicken that you wrap in the butter leaf lettuce leaves.( ) Tea Leaf salad — Burmese fermented tea leaves, green cabbage, romaine hearts, dried shrimp, mixed Burmese nuts, jalapeño and garlic-lime dressing.( ) Entrees: Miyosaki sea bass in dashi broth served with baby bok choy and shitake. A delicate tasting dish. Sea bass was moist in a tasty dashi broth. Braised oxtail stew with carrots and potatoes served with jasmine rice. Oxtails were fall-off the bone tender in a very tasty sauce. Rice was a perfect accompaniment to sop up the gravy.( ) Strawberry shortcake with a chocolate dipped strawberry. Good dessert, but an option with more of an Asian influence would have been nice.( ) Given that the menu choices were limited to the prix fixe menu, a return visit is needed to enjoy Burmatown’s other menu offerings.
