I have purchased a couple pairs of shoes from Arch Rival before and just purchased another pair yesterday. Their people seem to pretty well trained and knowledgeable about shoes. I told them what was going on with my feet and they recommended a few different shoes to address the issues/​concerns I had. They make great suggestions, but are not pushy. Very pleased
BTW…Arch Rival is no longer in the the Bön Aire Shopping Center. It is now in Corte Madera near the DMV and Book Passage (Tamal Vista Blvd)

Walked into the store it was soooo crowed each sales person took their time with each person which was fine because I would want the same courtesy. Case patiently helped me find some runner. Case suggested 3 different pairs. My husband who wasn’t in the market bought a pair also. Thank you!!!

Arch Rival is a great local shoe store! I was met by «Gerald» and gained immediate «cred» by me by sporting a Tamalpa sweat shirt. He was very helpful, and I was impressed with the store. I did not have to go elsewhere, he had the Brooks running shoe that I prefer. Very satisfied with the experience!

I had aweful service. The manager on duty first ignored me and then looked straight through me without saying a word. Apparently scheduling part time staff was more important than an actual customer. I needed shoes urgently and had heard such good things about this company that I complained, got attention and made my purchase. Would I go back there? Not if I can help it. Will I tell as many people as possible about the rudeness? You bet!

Seriously awesome service!
I am a Pilates Instructor and Dog Walker. I know that the right shoes make all the difference in how your entire body can feel and perform. The staff at Arch Rival are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I started having knee pain and ankle pain due to old injuries and too much walking with poor shoes. I went in and 10 minutes later I had a great fitting, supportive shoe with a special way of lacing to ensure no heel slippage. My feet, ankles, and knees are feeling much better.

Let’s see I order shoes 6 weeks or more and have yet to see them. If New Balance can’t provide shoes, than Arch Rival should not be selling them. I have had to call 4 times to find out where my shoes are (even with the rep from New Balance in the store) and still no shoe. I just recently spend $ 140.00 for a pair of shoes for my daughter where I could have gone else where for them.
Let’s hope I get my shoes here in the next week or I’m going else where and will never go back to Arch Rival.

I am not an avid runner – more like a novice wannabe runner. But when it comes time to buy those running shoes, this is one of the best places to come and get fitted. They look at how you walk, they see what support you might need, they have you try them out on the sidewalk… all this to ensure you getting what you need.
I haven’t been disappointed.

Love this place. I worked with Kees who has obviously been running since the earth cooled and really knows his stuff. He had me try on several pairs of shoes and run outside in them until we found the perfect pair. I am just starting to run again after too many years to count and was relieved to find actual experts who are genuinely knowledgeable rather than mere sales people. The guy at REI just brought out the shoes I selected and I had no idea what I needed so I picked the pretty ones. Kees explained how the shoes worked and why he chose what he chose and even steered me clear of things that were more expensive or advanced than I needed. I cannot imagine going anywhere else for running gear. Oh, and they had an awesome sale rack.

I’ll chime in here as well: these guys are great, and it’s far & away the best running store in Marin. The owner is responsible for co-​founding Tamalpa, and the rest of the staff is just as knowledgeable. The prices are right, they offer a great selection, and they’re happy to order anything not in stock. They’re the go-​to for all of the Marin runners that I know and you won’t be disappointed with the service. Definitely recommended!

This is the only place I want to buy athletic shoes from. So far, I have purchased two pairs of running shoes from this location. The staff is knowledgeable and experienced. They even suggested I buy a less pricey shoe than the brand new model that had just arrived… and guaranteed the same results. Clearly, they wanted a satisfied customer. Arch Rival has another location at Strawberry Village in Mill Valley. My husband bought a pair of shoes from that location and he is just as satisfied.
