I was in Corsicana for a work trip and was recommended to go to OMI for authentic Mexican cuisine. Upon walking into the restaurant I was handed some chips that looked and tasted home made. Along with the chips, I was served a red authentic salsa that had a nice kick to it, not too spicy and not too mild but just enough to get my taste buds tingling. The server also gave me an orange paste to eat with my chips. The orange paste or sauce, had an interesting taste. With a smooth creamy texture and a spicy vinegar taste. I didn’t dislike it nor was a find if it. Thus, I stuck to the salsa. I ordered a chicken and shrimp fajita which was ok. It looked really pretty. It certainly needed the salsa in order to give it a little kick. Overall give this restaurant a 3 stars. Wasn’t the worst but wasn’t the greatest either. The server was very sweet and she’s the reason they got 3 stars rather than 2.

Food is great, service slow. Now we are NOT difficult people to please. Took 20 minutes to get our first drink order. Keep in mind we only ordered 2 drinks! WAITRESSACTUALLYBROUGHT A PLATEOFFOODOUTHOLDINGITINONEHANDANDTEXTINGINTHEOTHER!!! We asked for refills of chips and would see her go back by the bar and stand there and text. I could give more examples, but y’all get the drift. Now normally the service is better, but it has never been great. A couple of the waitress are alright. We were actually told by another waitress that our waitress had already had one complaint that night. We complained to the manager, and he actually allowed our waitress to come stand there and listen! He proceeded to make excuses for her. We love the food, but will never be back. Service has a lot to do with an enjoyable experience eating out. We will spend our money somewhere our patronage is appreciated.

«Orange salsa» okay traditional salsa better. Service excellent on very crowded enchilada night. Main course better than average. Frozen margaritas served with a quarter of a peach. Interesting but not asked for. Two guys ate and each had 1 margarita for $ 14.99. Would do it again if I happened to be in Corsicana on a Wednesday.

This is where you find the locals, so you know it is good! Orange dip is very unique and tasty! Salsa is delicious as well. Love the fajitas and enchiladas! Good, dependable wait service. This place is usually is pretty busy, so go in earlier if you can.

My husband and I were in the Corsicana area last night and decided to search Unilocal for the best Mexican food in the area, and this place was the top recommendation so we went there. When we got there we noticed that there were 2 other Mexican restaurants within walking distance of this place and both had only a couple cars in front of them but this place was packed. Encouraged, we walked in to a divey, older building with aged décor and loud laughter; every table was full and everyone was smiling and animated. Once we were seated our waitress immediately came over with chips and the strangest salsa we had ever seen — it was orange and obviously mayonnaise based — and it was out of this world. Our waitress told us to mix the orange sauce with the fresh salsa that was also served for an even better treat, and she was right. She told us that the owner’s parents had started this place with their now famous enchiladas as the sole menu item 75 years ago and was still one of OMI’s top specialties, so I got the chicken enchiladas, and my husband got a chicken salad. I used to think that chicken is chicken and that it all tastes the same until last night. The chicken in both our dishes was outstanding; juicy and flavorful and beautifully marinated. It did take a while to get our meals, but handmade, fresh food cooked to order is always worth the wait. Having finished our meals and decided this was some of the best Mexican food we’d ever had and definitely our new top favorite Mexican restaurant, I was slurping my perfect mango margarita when I got brain freeze from eating the piece of frozen mango in my drink and a nearby older gentleman noticed and laughed with my husband and me. The next thing we knew we were sitting at the gentleman’s table and he promptly introduced his wife and 2 other couples sitting with them and enjoying drinks, and then introduced himself as the owner of OMI and the son of the original couple that started it and had the waitress bring me another margarita. We spent more than an hour with them, swapping stories and enjoying the camaraderie of 6 old friends who invited 2 strangers into their family. My only regret for this surreal experience is that I didn’t buy a pint of the amazing orange sauce. We will definitely be back OMI, and thank you for your wonderful food and incredible hospitality!

So good, I ate here twice. Orange salsa tasted like it had mayonnaise as the base. I loved it. My coworker was not impressed. I had the beef and shrimp fajitas the first time. The beef was delish, the shrimp was flavorless and I was disappointed. The second time had the beef and chicken fajitas and the fried ice cream. I liked the beef better than the chicken. I was disappointed about the fried ice cream. just the ice cream would have been better but then again, who gets fried ice cream at a Mexican restaurant… should’ve known better. Would eat here again!

I’m writing about the orange dip in particular and the ambience in general. First the orange dip. It’s a mayonnaise based dip that, by itself, is different and not very tex mex. Fold in some of their spicy home made salsa and it becomes something special. Best i can compare it to is a redish version of Chuy’s creamy jalapeño dip. Very addicting. I’m betting anyone that wrote a bad review on the orange dip did not mix in the salsa. Second, the ambience. This is truly a «Triple D» dive. 75 years in business and not much on the remodeling. We love it. 6:30 on a Saturday and place is packed. Friendly effecient wait staff that more than found time for us even with 3 parties of 10+ seated around us. BTW, wait staff will recommend what to get AND suggest you mix the salsa into the orange dip. Oh, the Ultimate Fajitas arrived. Chicken beef and shrimp. Chicken has the same addictive properties as Lupe Tortilla’s. Winner winner chicken dinner. Beef was a close second. Shrimp was perfectly fine just over shadowed by the tenderness and the seasoning of the chicken and beef. Only knock is the flour tortillas are store bought. Refried beans are homemade and very flavorful. One reviewer claimed they were from a can because they had some grit. Wrong. Grit means homemade. Another reviewer said to eat them first while still hot. Yes for sure. OMI doesn’t heat the plate with the refried beans so don’t wait. Finally, my wife really appreciated the lone black olive on the plate(another review made fun of this). All in all a five for sure.

I would have gone with 2 stars, but my wife liked her meal. The rice and beans were fine. The chips and salsa were good(spicy). I see why most folks like the orange sauce — it’s very thick and creamy. Too much for me. What killed my meal for me was Valveeta-type cheese in my cheese enchilada. There’s nothing nastier. They said it wasn’t Valveeta, but that just means it’s some cheap HEB-brand cheese or something like that that tastes like Valveeta. So gross. On the other hand, my wife liked her fajitas. The service was super friendly but also super slow. The whole meal took forever. It may be a local favorite, but I won’t be back.

A Corsicana classic! Known near and far for its orange dip.(don’t worry, they also have your classic, hand-made salsa) Family owned and operated forever. You can expect big smiles, good service and great food. Good guac, too!!!

Best food in town. I grew up eating here, all the waitresses know me by my first name. Any times I’ve ever had a problem, it was immediately taken care of with no argument. FYI peak time is Friday Saturday all day. There is always a line but worth the wait! Tuesday Wednesday margarita specials! They are great too!

Gourmet Mexican. Orange dip to die for. I go only for that. Service is subpar. And for some odd reason, I was not a fan of the quesadilla. Then again, I don’t like olives. Next time I’ll decline olives. Good place to eat.

Good food, good service Restaurant was a little dark and could use larger bathrooms. I would still go there when I visit Corsicana again.

After pretty much being stumped about a place to stop and eat dinner, we finally stopped at the place in Corsicana with the most cars outside. Our chips came to the table with an orange dip made out of mayo which was a bizarre start to a pretty awful meal. Our plates came out with a black olive on top, always a sign of fine Mexican food. Worst of all, the beans were grainy and flavorless, a sure sign that they are out of a can. This place is awful! You can pretty much just keep driving if you are tempted to stop in Corsicana and eat. You could probably get a better meal at Chili’s.

Bad service during lunch with a party of 2 and we arrived at 11:15 before any crowds. Terrible food as well. Maybe the US food truck behind the building was a give away when we arrived. The lunch steak burrito tasted horrible like they havent cleaned the cooktop off in months. Orange dip? WTH is that crap. Sorry friends there are better places to get tex mex.
