Was not impressed with food or service. Chicken salad tasted like sliced deli chicken, cookies tasted like something you would get at the grocery store. Service at counter was slow and un friendly. Store was clean.

This is my stop when I’m on 45 between Dallas & Houston. Forget Buccee’s! This is the place to eat along the I45 corridor. The sandwiches are amazing because the bread is fresh baked, of course, and the breakfast and lunch toppings are also fresh. The bakers breakfast sandwich has cheese, egg, and your choice of meat on a panini toasted croissant. We also got just a biscuit sandwich with egg, and even that was delicious. That biscuit is soooo buttery and flaky. The bakers sandwich is perfect, and the sausage tastes fresh farm made. Normally, like most other people, I detest fruit cake. That is NOT the case here. These bakers make the BEST fruitcake I’ve ever had! They come in a wide variety of flavors. Trust me, ask for a sample. The coffee was great, and just try to make it past the bakery case. Impossible! LOL! They also sell their fresh baked day old bread loaves for only $ 1. Service is very nice. The staff is «down home» friendly. And this spot is always clean.

You have to try the cherry ice box cookies, absolutely delicious! Even if you don’t like fruitcakes, try these. They are unlike any you can find anywhere else. Always great service and clean environment.

I just stopped by on the way to Dallas to use the restroom, stretch my legs and top off my coffee mug. And they just gave it to me! Seriously, completely free. They’ve earned my patronage for life.

Clean bathrooms. Horrible customer service. No clear lines only 2 people working. CHAOS! Don’t waste your time. Wait for Bucees!

Great place to stop inbetween Houston and Dallas. Cute, clean, quaint and employees took great pride. Picked up fresh bread and few cookies. Nice restrooms. Silly. But loved the outdoor trash cans(sanitary!!)

My brother loves to bring out two or three fruitcakes from the Collin Street Bakery. My wife and brother preferred the Apricot Pecan Cake, while I liked the Pineapple Pecan Cake a little bit more. The pineapple is a little bit sweeter. We all agreed that the plain Deluxe Fruitcake was not very good. My brother and I were used to having fruitcake as kids at Christmas. I am afraid that our kids don’t share our appreciation of them.

Ate lunch here. I had a roast beef sandwich and my hubby had a chicken salad sandwich. Both sandwiches were very good. Bread was fresh and ingredients were high quality. Neither of us had a side. Price was reasonable. We also had dessert. This is where this place is sadly lacking. They have a ton of cookies, pies and so on but in my opinion none that we tried were anything special. We had 4 different flavors of cookies and sampled a few pies. I was really disappointed with the desserts. I have had better desserts from the bakery at a grocery store. Oh well, I will just stick with the sandwiches next visit.

My 3−4th time reordering their DeLuxe crack Costa Rican fruitcake! Just nabbed a medium for my family. The Chew and such are onto it as well!

CSB is a local and national icon. Known all over the world for their«world famous fruit cakes,» CSB also has many other treats including: cakes, cookies, pies and even deli sandwiches. If you are driving by, stop in and get a free cookie for the kids. They also have great pecan bread.

Not bad. Stopped here to grab a snack and their listing popped up on Unilocal when looking for kolaches. Was disappointed to find out they do not make them so I settled on a few of their cookies. The cookies were good but when you are in the mood for a kolache, a cookie just doesn’t cut it. Staff was friendly and the place is very clean. I would definitely give them another chance when I am looking for something more in the sweets department… :)

I came here a long time ago when I was younger. I am driving a 600 mile trip and stopped here on a whim. I did not get the sweet, kind gentleman working the pie and cake counter’s name, but I just want him to know he is the epitome of great customer service. I mentioned my long journey and he offered a free iced latte to go. I love meeting chatty and friendly people. I will definitely stop back on my way back to love it. Thank you again for your great customer service :-)

Always a favorite stop on the way to Dallas it looks like this place is undergoing some remodeling. Plenty of yummy treats if you’re looking for a snack before hitting the big D and located conveniently off of I-45! Mainly known for their fruitcake but a charming little place with soup and sandwiches as well as some awesome cookies for the kids! Clean restrooms and plenty of smiles!

So we are in line and the checkout lady walks away. After waiting for her to come back we begin to realize she isn’t. Sadly the other checker doesn’t choose to acknowledge our presence. We had to get at the end of the one line. So another 15 minutes in line. Customer service matters. I have been here multiple times and I typically have. A long wait. But this was just a rude situation. Ordered a croissant and it came out grilled and pressed. Flavor was good.

Don’t see the draw to this place. Bread is not good. Cookies are tasteless. Workers are not friendly. Have stopped on 2 trips — both were a disappointment. HEB bakery has better cookies then this place. Sandwiches are nothing wonderful. Keep driving — hit Mc D instead.

I was hoping this bakery would be a good option to replace Czech Stop when I went down 45 instead of 35 but it’s a no go. I have been 4 times now and each time I’ve had an issue. The first time the lady behind the counter was incredibly short and cranky. Ok fine everyone has a bad day. The second time I went it was at 9am and they were out of everything I wanted. The lady said they hadn’t made anything new yet for the day. Huh??? The last time I went there was a hair in my box of cookies. That was the last straw for me. The sugar kisses are delish but not worth the hassle.

My wife and I were on our way back to the Dallas/Fort Worth area after spending a week in Mexia. It was time to stop for a quick bite to eat and we decided to stop at Collin Street Bakery for sandwiches and cookies. My wife had heard that the chicken salad sandwiches were incredible. She absolutely loves chicken salad. Walking in the first thing was noticed was how bight and clean the restaurant/bakery looked. We were also greeted very warmly by the staff. The cookie counter was very impressive and was stocked to the brim with countless varieties of cookies. We ordered our sandwiches at the counter, my wife chicken salad on pecan bread, me tuna salad on pecan bread. The cashier gave up our number and we filled out drink cups. My wife decided on mango iced tea and I opted for lemonade. We looked around at all the fruitcake type cakes that Collin Street Baker is known for. Very quickly our sandwiches were delivered to our table by Gloria. She was so friendly and funny. She came by a couple of times and was kidding around with us. She asked if we were going to have dessert and we said we were not sure. Out of the blue, here she comes with a plate of 6 different types of Collin Street’s incredible cookies. Oh my gosh, the cookies were delicious. Gloria came back by our table to visit and wanted to know which cookie we liked the best. We told her the pecan praline. Here comes Gloria again this time with a sack of a dozen cookies, the pecan praline ones. Talk about an ambassador for the bakery, Gloria is definitely one! We’re not finished yet. She came back by our table to clear off our dishes and asked how we enjoyed the tuna and the chicken salad. My wife started talking to Gloria about how she loved the chicken salad and that it was some of the best she’d ever eaten. Gloria bragged that she make the chicken salad and was so happy my wife enjoyed it. Before we left, my wife was walking out with a nice portion of chicken salad to go. What an absolutely incredible experience we had at Collin Street Bakery. We can’t wait to return again real soon. Gloria and Collin Street Bakery are now«rock stars» in our books!

Tell me about how you enjoy feeling ill after eating a $ 7 pre-made sandwich you waited 15min in line for. We were a little fragile in the blood sugar department when we were enticed off the 45 by a multitude of billboard advertising for the worlds best chicken salad sandwich. Is it possible for a sandwich to give you an instant hangover? Cos that’s what hubby and I got. Neither of us finished our sandwiches(chicken for him, tuna for me) and felt sluggish and queasy afterwards until we righted the wrong with a second lunch at in n out. I still don’t feel great. I give one star for the fact that they had a front door, a roof and other vital infrastructure. Other reviewers here are praising their bread, but our rolls were slightly stale. I can make a better tuna salad sandwich in the dark. Not recommended for people who like food or life.

The deli sandwiches were very good they use quality meats and cheeses. The cherry cheese Danish and almond Danishes were excellent the best I’ve had in Texas, they make it all from scratch and use quality ingredients, I’m a dessert junky and flakey pastries are my thing these desserts are high quality very good The service was good very friendly people but they are very slow, they take their time the line is long and service is really slow
