I love this place! I favor sweet wines so this place is perfect for me. I have gone on many occasions and never have been disappointed. I have read the other reviews and feel like some people are just nitpicking about any little thing and may just be the type to complain in life instead of living it. LoL I have tried the pizza and cheese tray, which are both delicious. My husband is not a wine person, their apple wine changed his mind. I started off my bday celebration there and had a blast, my friends loved it so much 2 others started their bday celebrations off there as well. Atmosphere is nice with dim lighting, great music, comfy lounge furniture. If you like wine you have to try it!

Such a fun place for events or to grabs glass of wine on the way home from work. Delish menu, great house wine, and that pizza is to die for. The staff is always friendly, patient, knowledgeable. The life music is always great and the cover is reasonable. Grab your friends and meet us on the dance floor!

I came after work with a friend on a Thursday night. I started with the house White Zinfandel, which had a nice berry flavor. My friend ordered the house peach Chardonnay, which was so delicious I ended up ordering a glass. We also ordered food. I got the pepperoni pizza and my friend got the happy hour sliders. I love pizza and this pizza was good! It was thin crust with large slices of pepperoni and the sauce was perfect. The hamburger sliders and a nice presentation and were also good. We were there before the love music for the night, but I enjoyed the music they had playing. The place had a nice, swanky ambiance perfect for relaxing and having a glass of wine. The bartender/waiter was attentive and would refill our waters without having to ask, and he was friendly! I will be back and would highly recommend this place!

Nice surprise! After art walk, we were hungry and wanted a light meal. So we tried Vino Mio. The menu was perfect and reasonable. We got two salads and the sweet potato wedges. The wine selection was great and music was excellent. The staff was helpful and attentive. Rarely do you find a spot to get a glass of wine, have a yummy meal and listen to live music. I will think about it on a week night for a quick dinner. Also, it wasn’t smokey!

Great atmosphere and awesome music. The option to BYOB is a plus for those that do not enjoy wine. I happen to love wine and as a result highly recommend ordering the out of house wines they offer. Their in house concoctions(exception: the Riesling) are more like koolade mixed with a cheap rose topped with water. They aren’t worth the dollar and shouldn’t be called wine. I realize that’s harsh but it is honest. Aside from that I recommend the pizza, salad and sliders. You definitely get what you pay for, Fresh and delicious. The cheese plate was good but WAY over priced for the amounts provided. I’ve been a couple times and look forward to bringing some out of town guests in the near future.

Great little spot for that laid back lounge feel. Good music and friendly service. Be warned as the other poster said this place ONLY serves wine. They have a yummy selection of wines in all different flavors. My girlfriends and I enjoyed getting a sampler of different selections.

I am placing this review with the hope it gets a policy change or at least warns people who may show up thinking as I did«oh they probably serve beer for non-wine drinkers». If you’re a wine drinker then maybe it’s the place for you, but if you drink beer be prepared either not to drink or bring your own beer for a BYOB fee. After posting this I realized it’s not fair to the establishment to give 2 stars simply cause they don’t serve beer so I raised it to 4 stars as not to penalize them cause I can’t figure out how to just delete this review haha. Sorry

Biggest complaint here is the smoke. One of the guys who work here decided to take a smoke break… by standing in the front door way. I was sitting at the far end of the bar but was still coughing from it blowing into the place. Other than that, the bartender was nice! He found out what cheeses were offered on the different cheese plates so I could make an educated decision… and it was delicious. Loved that cranberry wesleydale one. I also ordered a Caesar salad with grilled chicken. The chicken itself was dry and a little rubbery… wouldn’t recommend that add-on. And the dressing was a little bland. Might be store bought rather than made in house. As for the wine, it’s definitely geared towards more lighter bodied, and sweeter varietals, as they make their own(which is pretty cool)! If you’re new to wine, this might be a great place to get started. But if you’re into fuller-bodied, tannic varietals, you will probably be a bit disappointed with the selection. All in all, I enjoyed it and think coming here for a night out to enjoy the live music with friends would be a fun time! Next time I’m traveling for work and looking to have a dinner for one with some wine, I’ll probably stick to the french restaurant downtown.

I really enjoy watching splendiferous perform here. The lead singer of that band can sing really good. She is also very friendly, and mingles with the crowd. The wine is very good and inexpensive. I also ordered the chicken pizza, and it was great. I would suggest this place to anyone. They also let you BYOB.

I am not a wine drinker(allergic), but a big group of my friends wanted to try this place out. The décor and atmosphere of this place is very cool. The band we saw was great as well. The waitress we had knew very little about wine, and everyone said the wines they ordered were very sweet, and a little pricey. I’ve never been to a wine bar before that didn’t also serve beer. I wish they did, so I could drink something. I understand wanting to keep it classy, but they have a $ 20BYOB fee. NOPE. If they served craft beer, I think this place would be top notch, and I think they would get more business too. I guess if my friends ever want to come back here, I just have to drink a lot before…

Cool place with potential to be a great escape from the loud club scene. Love the décor and the seating, but they totally blow it because they let the band crank their volume up to a RIDICULOUS level every time I’ve been there. It completely destroys the possibility of ANY conversation because you literally have to shout. NOT what I’m looking for in a speak easy type wine bar! What a shame, because I kinda like the place apart from that. Oh and I agree completely with another reviewer who was completely puzzled by the enormous aquarium/slash frog exhibit? Absolutely doesn’t fit. Weird. If they’d turn the band’s volume down by 50% so people could converse I’d be all about it. Otherwise, no thanks.

When you walk into Vino Mio the first thing to catch your eye is the beautiful terrarium which is filled with whimsical flora and fauna. This luscious ecosystem is a symbol of this establishment. Everything about this place works in perfect synergy. When paired with wine, the groovy live music transports your soul to a place far away from the Sparkling City. It is truly unlike any other bar in this town. Most bars offer drinks and a place to chill as a service, but this bar contributes to the culture of our city. I highly recommend to anyone looking for something different. If the nightlife scene in Corpus doesn’t satisfy you I urge you– GIVETHIS A TRY. This bar is not for those who drink to get shwasted. It is a place for those who take time to smell the flowers. Sip, savor, and steep in this truly unique experience.

I went to this place for the first time at the behest of my friends who love the atmosphere. Vino Mio did not disappoint. There was clearly a lot of work that went into making this place cozy and unique. There’s a bar where you can sit as well as numerous sofas and chairs around, all very attractive and comfortable. They have a giant aquarium with frogs that is very well-kept. I can’t say I’ve ever seen a frog setup like this. The stage and sound setup could quite possibly be one of the best in the city for an intimate show. I was thoroughly impressed with the acoustics in the place which, like the décor, someone obviously put a lot of work into. Vino Mio does not serve beer or liquor — wine only — and that makes this place unique. For one, there’s not a lot of drunkenness or out of control people like you’d find at a standard bar. I like that a lot and it’s a welcome change. Offering only wine seems to keep the focus narrow and keep everyone on the same level, so to speak. They have a wide variety of house wines that are made in-house and it’s all fairly good. They also have a nice selection of non-house wines. We did not eat any of the food offering so I can’t speak for the food. The service was very good and the staff were all friendly and kept our glasses full. We spent some time at the bar and our bartender was wonderful. The arrangement of the bar lends itself to ease of socialization. It’s very easy to meet new people, talk, and just have fun. I guess this is where the«social club» aspect of it comes into play. The vibe feels sort of like«Roaring 20’s meets 2014» and there are quite a few interesting characters. Vino Mio has a lot of potential. It’s more than just a «wine bar» and if you’re a serious wine aficionado, I’m sure that there are probably plenty of things you could say and be critical about the wine or this and that and the other, but to do so would be missing the whole point of this place. Vino Mio seems to me to be more about the whole experience rather than one particular thing. This place comes together beautifully in execution and I will definitely be coming back.

Check it out for yourself see what you think. New spot and it needs to try and focus on the fact that hey they are original and draw in a nice crowd here 2. Make the wine better or offer different vineyards and styles of wine from other regions like other Texas winery’s. 3 make sure your staff knows how to sell the wine, I appreciate the eye candy but have them at least be semi-knowledgeable on even a mascato, but then again it’s hard to ask for a place like this. A nice chill spot with a nice crowd and at atmosphere but shape up the customer service, if you talk to people like they don’t know what’s up about wine you come off as snobbish … Try to educate the customer instead of making them feel Stupid or Bull… Them. I actually like wine and would enjoy this place if it knew what good wine was.

We went on a Sunday my wife and I… place was dead cause it us a perfect chance to see what it’s all about! We were blown away with the food… The pizza was perfect finger food to with the wine that we ordered… The bartender was very helpful and answered any questions that we had… Music selection was perfect… Frank Sinatra hahaha!!! But all in all they have our business for sure… you can dress up if you want or go causal… Just no flips for the guys!!! It’s about time we got a place like this… Oh it’s just wine no beer or liquor but I was told they were working on that!

I am from CC and came in for a visit last weekend. I have been hearing some hype from my local friends that have wanted to come in and scope out the new place in town so we met here Saturday night. When coming in the door I got a «speak easy» like feel of the place seeing the door guy styled in suspenders and a manicured 40’s era mustache and hair combo along with the bartender in a similar get up. The setting is dark and lounge like with seating areas for groups and high tables close to the stage as well. The décor is trendy and feels hip minus the frog exhibit(what the heck??). We came in around 9 pm and our friends had a nice spot in the corner with a couch and lounge seating. They had ordered light bites and pizzas and had a couple of bottles of decanted wine on the table upon our arrival. We were offered a glass of the wine from our friends and were told this is «house wine» Vino Mio’s wines are mainly focused on the wines that are made by the owner. I sampled some sort of red maybe it was a merlot? I can’t remember. I just know it didn’t care for it and neither did my bf. Once the waitress came around we asked for a drink menu. Looking over the drink menu it is Very disorganized. So you have the house wines listed on the first 2 pages with anything from white sweet/fruit flavored wines to reds/cabs and on the back page were the non-house wines aka not made by the owner. The list was not in any order from white to reds. We had to hunt and peck to see where the reds were. I didn’t see any beer on this menu so I’m not sure if they sell it. We ordered 2 glasses of non-house reds I believe it was the 7 Falls cab that was the best of the two. We mixed and mingled with friends and nibbled on cheese and bread. We had dinner previous to coming here so we did not sample the pizzas but our party was disappointed with them and said they were over cooked. There was a live band playing from Austin and I can’t really say they were good. We actually were feeling sleepy listening to them(maybe it was the wine) but one of my friends liked them and pointed out Corpus Christi does not show case this type of music so she enjoyed it. We finished our glass of wine and were ready to go. We were more in the mood for a cocktail at this point. Overall there is room for improvement. The interior of the space is nice but I am very confused by the frog exhibit on the wall? What is that? I totally think that should be taken out and keep the«speak easy» vibe going here. Re –organize the drink menu white wines to red wines. I understand this is a wine bar focused on in house made wine but it would be great if they show cased beers and specialty hand crafted cocktails at some point. Corpus Christi has nothing like that and Vino Mio could defiantly pull it off. I kind of want this place to remind me of Hearsay Gastro Lounge here in Houston(shout out) which is one of our favorite places to take folks for great food and drinks with the retro vibe.

Wine bars are few and far between here in Corpus Christi — I think there are only 3, and not long before that there were none. So, when Vino Mio opened in the Parkdale area we wanted to try it. The place is very cozy, a bit dark but that adds to the character and appeal, to me. The gimmick of Vino Mio, though, is about 90% of the wines sold and served in there are made by the owner! Now, mind you, these are hobby-ish wines being served — lots of fruity, sweet varieties but a few surprises as well. The Petit Syrah I sampled was lacking in flavor, but the winner for me(oddly enough) was the Dark Chocolate Port! They call it a Port, but it’s alcohol content is more like a wine(14%). Still, a VERY tasty wine, though. They do have other, commercially made wines available. I did see Coppola and a couple other labels I recognized. So, if you don’t feel«adventurous» to try something different, you have options. On this night, they also had a live jazz band. EXCELLENT music! There’s lots of comfortable seating in the form of big, low couches, ottomans and some chairs. There’s a cool terrarium with some frogs and lizards to grab your attention. The service is friendly and eager to explain the different varieties and offer samples. Cool place — glad they’re here. We’ll be back.
