U & I Restaurant

It’s not worth the price to be honest. The food was Okay. Just okay… the Alfredo pasta I had could have been good, but the Fettuccini was overcooked and made the dish taste weird. My bf got the chicken friend chicken whatever, but he didn’t like it either. The gravy they used for the chicken didn’t have any taste at all. The servers were good and paid attention to us, and that’s prolly it.

We had an enjoyable dinner last night. A busy time at U & I. The meal came out as ordered. The salad was merely lettuce and small extras but it was cold and delicious. Our server Matthew did a great job keeping us well taken care of. My steak was cooked correctly and the baked potato was hot and the gentleman I was with enjoyed the stuffed shrimp. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because we were seated in a back room that was with children. I will go back!

Worst seafood I’ve eaten. Had stuffed shrimp and blackened catfish. The sauce was something that you look like you can get out of a can it was disgusting and tasteless. Somehow the restaurant things to rolls were delicious just takes like a regular rolls you can get at the grocery store nothing special

The filet mignon was perfect and the baked potato as well. The salad was only lettuce and you can tell they skimp where possible because the garnish had mold on it.

When we first got sat down, it took them 10 minutes to even come and ask what we would like to drink, then the high chair they brought us for my son had broken latches so we could strap him in. The food was ok but not worth another try for us. When we were leaving the person cleaning the table was in a bad mood or something because he was cursing and mumbled to himself. Do yourself a favor and try another place.

Good food, decent prices, great soups. I eat here every chance I get. This is almost a landmark they have been open so long. Seafood, Steak, home style meals.

The prices are pretty decent. I order my steaks medium well and they do a good job of preparing my steaks accordingly. The atmosphere is pleasant and the service is rather quick. So far, I’ve been able to enjoy my meals and possibly have time for dessert within an hour. I would recommend them.

The atmosphere is very nice and calm. Great place for families and large parties. Service is outstanding and the staff is super friendly. The food was decent, I had the tilapia fillet, small portions but good flavor. Overall had a great experience qnd would go back again.

I was visiting Corpus Christi for the week and I ate at this this restaurant for dinner on a Thursday evening. The décor and environment was okay, nothing special really. In fact, it didn’t seem too clean I felt dirty just sitting at the table. The water I ordered to drink tasted awful it had an unpleasant tap water taste. The only good thing I have to say about this place is the burger I ate, which actually had somewhat good flavor. I ordered my burger plain and dry with cheese and bacon. The service was not too friendly. Overall, an okay experience but I will not be going back.

Outstanding service, top notch food and drinks, and great prices. Our server, David, and all of the wait staff were fast and attentive. I had the full rack of ribs and took half home and my wife had the stuffed flounder. We were at the highly recommended, highly priced, restaurants and left hungry. Service was not nearly as good at the highly priced restaurants either. U and I is clean, the service is excellent, the food is second to none, the bar drinks are done well and all is moderately priced. We highly recommend.

I ordered the crab cakes thinking since they are right on coast that these would be homemade. I can tell they came from a box. Disappointed to say the least.

I have been here before and use to love the chicken fried steak. But this time I got a Italian dish, not the best. My other half got a steak and it wasn’t good at all! The fried food appetizers we got tasted very fishy… And we didn’t get seafood appetizers. We thought about complaining, but didn’t want to make a big deal cuz we just wanted to get out, so we could get something else from somewhere else fast!!! Our waiter was very nice and the timing was fast, and such a sweet man, but no good on the food tonight. This use to be the pace to go. But now stay far and clear.

My Dad and I chose to stop here because he was in the mood for some shrimp. I had not been here before in any of my visits to CC so I was up for a new experience. The service was good, but I would have to say the food was just fair. We had calamari to start our meal and it was a little overdone but the breeding was admittedly tasty. Our salads were just plain iceberg lettuce and a few grape tomatoes. Nothing exciting. He had the coconut shrimp and they were prepared nicely, but the sauce was a little too sweet. I had the salmon and it was overdone, no flakiness to it at all. My baked potato was uneventful. I might be willing to come back, but only if I am out-​voted. I would rather try a new place.

Hubby and I dined here last weekend with another couple, and I have to say I was a little underwhelmed.
I got the steak and shrimp, with a salad and rice pilaf. The shrimp were delicious (it’s kinda hard to mess up fried shrimp) and the rice was also very good. The steak, however, was another story. Although cooked a perfect medium rare, the steak was very thin and tough.
Hubby got the ribeye, and his steak was cooked correctly, but again very thin and tough.
Overall, I thought my food was just okay, definitely NOT worth the $ 19.99 price tag.
The waiter was efficient but not too friendly, a smile here and there would have been nice.
Would I return here? Only if someone else was paying for it.

Our food was not cooked to order, steak was ordered well and was super bloody, which got all over the under cooked lobster tail-​gross!
Never got our salads, won’t be back!!!

Good food, Service lacking… A LOT!
This was my family’s 4^th and last time to eat here. The food was tasty, as usual, but the service crossed the line to unacceptable today.
Upon our arrival, the service started out very nice, it all changed as the family of one of their employees (Asst. Mngr from what I could gather) sat down at a 10 top next to us. We were suddenly forgotten by our waitress as she humped it for the next table over.
My Wife ordered the Shrimp Lunch Combo which includes soup and salad. The soup and salad never materialized before our entres arrived. Attempts to flag our server down were either not noticed or ignored.
When our waitress presented the check, my wife brought up the missing food. Our server mumbled a bit of an apologetic sound and disappeared. She returned and dropped the check off with no change to the cost and no offer to make anything right. We flagged down another employee and requested to speak with a manager. That employee went straight to the woman at the head of the table next to ours, she in turn, got up, walked past our table, and went into a back office. A few minutes later, she emerged from the office, with her purse now in hand, and spoke with another gentleman before returning to her table. The man she spoke with then went and attempted a conversation with a completely unrelated table before being redirected to us.
As my Wife attempted to explain the situation to him, he appeared to not even understand what she was trying to tell him. He then became condescending toward her and stated «We can’t just change the prices for you, that’s why we have menus». At this point, I stopped him and explained, extra slow, that we NEVER RECEIVED HALF OF HER MEAL due to the waitress being redirected to the other employees’ table. He finally seemed to get it and resubmitted our check, less 10‰.
My wife and I both worked our way through school in the food service industry. We know what service is and have expectations which do not waiver. We still tipped our waitress 15% but will not be returning to this establishment.

Their food overall is a bit too salty. I ordered the 10oz ribeye with cream of mushroom soup and green beans on the side… The soup was incredibly salty! I finished my water from thirst before the food even came out… And my ribeye itself was a little too over salted as well, but they did cook my steak the perfect medium rare I requested, at least that worked out. Their rice pilaf side however was really good! The rice was fluffy and chewy, definitely try that as a side with one of your meals. For appetizers, I would not recommend the fried calamari… It did Not taste like calamari… The texture was closer to chicken for some reason, it was not good at all… And the ranch on the salad that came out did not taste like ranch. The appetizer sampler isn’t that bad if you want a nice variety to start off with in the beginning. This place is okay for it’s price, but I think I’ll be sticking to Texas Roadhouse.

Was here with my brother and wife. First time here the wait staff was very friendly .
The place seem small but very clean my wife ordered steak and shrimps, Sea food platter for my brother and chicken kabob for me every thing came out perfect. The four stars is just, our appetizer which was potato skin and buffalo wings which were cold. We were very hungry but instead of sending them back we already were on them since we were really hungry …
But apart that every thing was great had a good time food was very flavorful the staff was very friendly and the place was clean :) will definitely return.

Do not eat here! We just left U&I Restaurant after having the absolute worst food and service ever. Seating happened very quickly, but this was the only positive part of our entire experience. Our waiter, Bruce, used a very loud tone with us, near yelling while taking our orders. When the app came, peel it yourself shrimp, Bruce told us he would now put in our order and it would be out soon. After a while, Bruce returned without our food to let me know that the ½ order of ribs I ordered was not going to happen because they were out. I had to reorder my meal, which delayed everyone’s meal getting to the table. When our food arrived, we were disappointed with the portions of mixed vegetables. They looked like the frozen veggies from heb. Next, the gyro that was order came with onions, which we specified to leave off the meal. Finally, the steak I ordered (after finding out the ribs were not going to happen) was not cooked correctly. I ordered medium rare, and the steak was nearly well done. The fact that this place calls itself a Steakhouse is ridiculous… They should be ashamed. Bruce was pitiful and received z e r o for a tip. When the meal was over, the ribs were still on the receipt alone with my entrée that I ate. Smh. Are you kidding?
I’ll hit up the dollar menu at a drive thru before I consider eating here again.

Tonight my gf and I jumped in our DeLorean and raced down Ocean Drive — our Flux Capacitor was working perfectly and supplied the 1.2 gigi-​watts needed as we hit 88mph and transported us back to 1985 as we pulled into U&I’s parking lot.
We walked into the restaurant which featured a completely tiled ceramic floor, silk palm trees, and formica table tops. We were seated immediately by a very friendly host and our server took our drink orders and provided us with the menu’s.
It certainly is a casual restaurant, jeans, tshirts, flipflops, and baseball caps are all acceptable forms of attire. I cursed myself for not wearing my Frankie Goes to Hollywood «RELAX» shirt!
I opted for the Ribeye which came with a salad and fries. I asked if the fries were frozen? «No, hand cut on site» — salad dressing included «french, thousand islands, Italian, blue cheese, and a few others… lol…so what the hell — thousand islands it is…
The first thing that arrived at the table was a giant basket of Saltines… i asked my gf „Did you order Soup“…“Nope»…Ok then. The salads hit the table immediately after that — iceberg, with a few tomatoes, celery… and the thousand island on the side in a little plastic cup. It was fresh however alittle watery and we talked about how i want to buy a salad spinner things when i get home.
The steaks and fries arrived next, the steak was certainly medium rare… more on the rare side — but a great sear on it with nice flavor, fries were cut old school but had a nice crisp on them.
Fresh rolls also came with the meal, and there was no shortage of butter to put on them — they are perfectly positioned beside me in the little containers that my grandmother used to sneak home in her purse.
My gf had the baked potato instead of the fries with her Filet — it was loaded but she did have to put the sour cream on herself… so she squeezed it out of the tube that was provided :)
Now being that we were in 1988 — when i received the «ticket» i realized that the prices were also from that era…6 oz Petite Filet, Potato, and Salad $ 13.99, 10oz Ribeye, Fries, and Salad $ 17.99.
All the food was solid, and you won’t find a better deal anywhere. Do they compete with Katz? No of course not, but you can feed a family of 4 for under $ 80 for a steak dinner.
Now i have to wait for a lighting storm to charge up the DeLorean for the ride home!
