Sandwiches were tasty with a large selection. Good selection of beers too. I would have given a five star rating, but we went here for dinner. I think this is a better option for lunch.

Good sandwiches and friendly folks that work there. Wife really enjoyed her teriyaki chicken sandwich. Also have a nice selection of cold craft beer. We always stop at Surfside whenever we’re in Corpus Christi.

Great chill atmosphere, awesome music playlist, and incredible food! I got to try the Ahi Tuna Hot sandwich and it was cooked just enough, laid on top of the best coleslaw I’ve had. Soup of the day was shrimp bisque and it was some of THE best soup I’ve ever had. This place gets 5 stars because the food is appreciated with all 5 senses used by man.

Very authentic place for sandwiches of all kinds! Place is bit small so if you have a good size crowd, be prepared but it’s worth the wait!

Small place making good food with a nice and friendly staff, what’s not to like? Tried their Baja Shrimp tacos for lunch. Three medium size shrimp per taco(I guess about the 35/lb size), freshly grilled. A little bit of lime juice to give it just a bit of acidity — a nicely balanced taco It’s the island, so prices a a bit higher — sodas are by the bottle — they do have tables outside Worth a try if near the island

Love the food here. Casual atmosphere, but delicious food and craft beers. In a strip center but has a patio. Scratch made bread and soups/sauces shine. Nowhere else do I get so fired up for paying $$ for tuna salad. So is the broccoli salad side and potato salad. Freshness is king. You get what you pay for here. You want a $ 5 foot long go see big pants creepy Jared. I’ll gladly spend my time and money here when on the Island.

If you read nothing else in my review, read this: order your sammie on the sweet sourdough bun. Seriously. Get it. Eat it. Drink the Kool-Aid and join the club. Texas toast? Wheat berry? Sure, those are fine for the average sandwich goer. But as a gluten enthusiast, a connoisseur of leavening and flour goodness, I beg of you: get the sweet sourdough bun. Okay, moving on. I’m confident that everything here is tasty, but my order was the turkey club, and it is very deserving of five satisfying, delicious, perfectly satiated stars. The savory crunch of bacon perfectly balances the creamy avocado slices, and the turkey helping is a generous one. Swiss, lettuce, tomato and spicy red onion complete the stack of awesome. And obviously I got it on a sourdough bun — we’ve been over that. The jars of spicy pickles, refrigerators full of drinks that include a fantastic beer selection, and the option of dessert really make this the place to beat for a quick meal on the island.

Excellent choice of food. Our meal was perfect and the turkey club sandwich is outstanding. You also will not leave there hungry.

Great sandwiches on the island, probably the best in all of Corpus Christi. A little pricey but you get what you pay for, the taste and presentation is always very good.

When asked to recommend a sandwich, the Cuban press was immediately proffered up, claiming that the Cuban is what put them on the map, and has them ranked as the #6 best sandwich shoppe in Texas, and the best in corpus. This sandwich certainly lived up to the hype! The Cuban press totally had that, «yeah, wow, that’s the bite» spice, great! Pulled pork, pickles. I was a little dissuaded by the American cheese, but it creates a beautiful a sauce with the butter, and spicy sauce. Super tasty and just the right proportions! The is no overabundance, nor a lack of any one flavor — each texture and flavor works in spicy, delicious harmony. YUM! Now when you order that sandwich, it will come with a side and we’d really love to suggest the potato salad! With green peas and red onions, the potato salad has just the right snap to be the perfect side for any sandwich.

My husband and I came to the island on vacation and stumbled on this place. We ate there twice. The food was great. Everything we orders was fabulous. The menu is unique and the atmosphere was super laid back. We will definitely come back the next time we’re in town. Totally recommend the shrimp tacos

Food is very good. Huge selection, mostly seafood options. Crabcake is probably my favorite. I’ve also tried the turkey club and chicken salad. Among the sides, I thought the Mac and cheese was the best(and worth the upgrade). The only thing I would say is that in my opinion, I think the food is slightly overpriced hence the 3star.

3.9STARS! This Austin, TX ‘Esq dive is something for only coolcatts. You may find it hard to inhale a sandwich from a dude that looks like he hasn’t washed his hands for days. They don’t use gloves here either. Just bet that the heat cooks all the germs away because the food isn’t that bad at all. An elaborate menu will confuse you and it’s hard to read straight off the wall. The temperature is steamy when you walk in so I prayed the meat wasn’t going bad but I’ll stop complaining from here. You should be sitting outside anyways; taking in the beach salt air. THEFOOD: Fresh as it gets down here on North Shore. The chicken salad is amazingly refreshing on a hot summer night and the grilled chicken on any sandwich is JUICY! It must be the big guy behind the grille because he knows how to grill up some chicken. It packs just enough salt and butter leaving and the charbroiled taste will make you think it was cooked over fire. I decided to side my meal with their mac n cheese. It looked very creamy yet thick in the Unilocal photos but upon delivery it was slightly chunky. The cheese separated from the milk leaving a chunky white residue floating to the top. It still tasted good as I ate the entire serving but it wasn’t it’s best day. Due to this slight malfunction the texture was of course dry. The flavor was still good but the color looked pitiful. The pulled pork sandwich was the best out of the four plates I tried. It wasn’t overloaded with grease and held together just long enough to consume. The burgers are darn good. It lacked a little salt and pepper but the thick patty was cooked perfectly through but still left juiciness to run down your chin. The buns are fresh and sweet. You will enjoy those buns as I did. I’LLLEAVEYOUWITHTHIS: Pricey!!! They don’t have kids meals so be prepared to pay $ 11-$ 13 for a sandwich that your kid only eats two bites of. Enjoy!

The food was good; however, when we asked why our bill was so high we got MAJOR attitude from the girl who I believe was the manager(short hair brunette). She was not nice at all. She did not bother to explain in a professional manner but instead printed our receipt and smacked it down in front of us and said«here, you check it». INCREDIBLYRUDE. We were very turned off by both the prices(everything is add-on: chips, pretty much any of the good sides, bacon, cheese…) and as previously stated the lady’s attitude. I do not believe that we will be back.

This restaurant was amazing. Small little place on the edge of a shopping strip that doesn’t look like much, but you can tell when you walk in that the focus of this place is on quality of food. There’s not a lot of space inside the restaurant, but enough room for 5 – 6 high top tables. We had our 2 year old son with us, so we took a high chair out to the patio to eat. As for the food, I ordered the blackened seared ahi tuna tacos and my wife the ahi tuna sandwich. The food came out looking amazing and the flavors did not disappoint. Definitely recommend anyone coming through the area to stop by for a meal. This is our first time to Padre Island, but I am already looking forward to coming back so I can try something new on the menu.

This place is the bomb! We stopped in for a light dinner and were ecstatic with our choice. My wife and I split the grilled shrimp tacos and they were outstanding. Our kids split the Cuban press; it too was excellent. We sat outside under the light and ate our meals and played a super entertaining game of giant Jenga. If you want a great sandwich … stop in here. You won’t be disappointed! Great food and great young men running the place. It’s too bad we didn’t find Surfside until the last day of our trip.

Ordered the Cuban and was not disappointed. The right combination of ham, pork, pickles, and cheese. Also loved the spicy sauce it was served with. The bread can make or break a sandwich and the toasty bread was perfect. I didn’t care for the potato salad(too many onions for me), but I didn’t come here for the sides. Next time I will try the mac n cheese. The prices are a bit high for what you get, but I didn’t have to drive to the mainland to get a great sandwich. I will return.

I’m a fan of this little lunch shack, serving delicious sandwiches, salads, and smoothies made with fresh, quality ingredients!!! – 4 energetic stars The tiny little sandwich shop is quickly becoming one of my favorite dives on the Island! The spartan backdrop, low-tech clothesline communication system, and myriad eclectic stickers and photos haphazardly crammed into every bit of space remind me of that old 80s song by the B-52s Love Shack! Whenever I take that first step inside, the tune with a bastardized version of the lyrics(Lunch Shack) blares on infinite loop in my head… «I’m headin’ down SPID highway Looking for a lunch getaway Headin’ for a lunch getaway» At first blush, the menu items look a bit on the pricey side($ 8 – 12 for a sandwich in a very casual, concrete floor dive)– but then you see that the premium you pay is for slabs of Ahi-grade tuna and chunks of yellowfin with fresh veggies for sides and garnishes. It’s a fair price for the quality! «…So hurry up and bring your jukebox money!» The breads are fresh and soft and the toppings are all housemade and packed with flavor! I love the grilled yellowfin tuna salad sandwich on sweet sourdough with the broccoli salad(fresh broccoli, red grapes, walnuts & red onions in a slightly sweet sauce.)! Another favorite is the chicken salad made with grilled chicken mixed w/red grapes, walnuts, and celery, also served on a sweet sourdough bun. Other favorites are the seared ahi tacos(whether you like them blackened or sesame-coated) drizzled in a spicy Asian sauce and the crab cake. Whatever I’ve ordered, it’s been the perfect coastal lunch. «Lunch Shack, baby, Lunch Shack(Lunch, baby, that’s where it’s at, yeah)» Just writing this review back in DC on a cold, miserable day, I can’t stop thinking about the mild winters on the island and dreaming of the Yellow fin salad on toasted sweet sourdough and longing to return to the Surfside Sandwich Shoppe very soon. «Just a funky old shack and I gotta get back!!!»

On the way back from the National Seashore, we decided to hit up Surfside for some good sandwiches after a great day at the beach. I think the coolest thing about this place is their very diverse and unique menu. This isn’t subway or Jersey Mike’s. As you can deduce from the name, most of the sammiches have a connection to the ocean and there are plenty to choose from. I was stuck between the yellow-fin tuna salad sandwich on sourdough, or the Cuban chicken salad sandwich. The girlfriend’s preference for the latter carried the day. We ordered the shrimp bisque as a side, which was their daily special. Now I am not usually one for chicken or tuna salad sandwiches, but this one was great. It had a nice spiciness to it, tasted fresh, and the doughy bun made it a solid choice. Surfside also gets extra points for grilling the underside of the bun on the flat top. The shrimp bisque as well, was solid. We also ordered one of their smoothies to go along with our meal and that was enjoyable as well. Surfside definitely lives up to its billing: a small sandwhich shop(pe) that should be a must stop for your sandwich craving either on your way to the beach or your way back.
