We are weekly regulars here. It’s tied(in our book, at least) with Costa Sur for best food in Corpus. They come up with inventive specials(a new one each day) that have great flavor and texture combinations. Beyond that, we have tried most things on the menu. The Pan Seared Gulf fish is always a good choice. Some other favorites are the Grecian Caesar(made with Greek yogurt, which gives it a lighter, fresher flavor than traditional Caesar), the Akaushi Burger(really exceptional), the Roasted Bell Pepper(which you can add your choice of protein to for an additional charge), and the Apple Bourbon Chop Chop(huge! great for splitting). Most often, we sit on The Barrel Wine and Tapas Bar side because we are fond of the server/bartender, Angela. It’s pricey, but Tuesdays and Wednesdays are great nights to go because they have half-priced bottles of wine. Sunday is also a great time to go because they do a really nice brunch from 11 – 2. We usually get the tableside mimosas, which come with a bottle of champagne, four little karaffes of different juices, and eight different fruits. Everything on the menu is tasty. The Cured Salmon, Sotex Caesar and Early Bird Sandwich are personal favorites. And there’s always a yummy special. So, if you’re on the island for the weekend, I’d recommend Costa for dinner on Friday or lunch on Saturday, Black Sheep for dinner on Saturday, and then wake up on Sunday and go back to Black Sheep for brunch! Your tummy will thank you, even if your wallet does not.

«Little Devils»… Giant shrimp with a long slice of fresh jalapeño are wrapped in bacon and grilled until the bacon is crispy and the shrimp are dense and perfectly cooked. They are then placed on an avocado cream that is fresh and delicious, with hints of lime and cilantro. The final flare is a spicy chili sauce drizzled atop each bacon wrapped bit of awesomeness. YUM!!! You think you’ve had«bacon wrapped shrimp» in the past, but you’ve never had it quite like this! This is a must try and a must try to stop thinking about it every day since… Truly incredible! Be prepared to drool… For more dishes to make you drool, check us out on drooldish!

This restaurant has a quiet, sophisticated ambience. The food is divine. I highly recommend the salmon and the New York Strip. Service was excellent.

Great intimate environment for a date or the whole family. This restaurant has the most unique menu, great variety of nightly specials and fun that they always seem to mix it up every time we go. It is I the pricier side however, this is the best restaurant we’ve been to in Corpus Christi. Most corpus restaurants are chains, which is great if that’s your preference. We really like this restaurant because the service is phenomenal, and the foods even better. You definitely get what you pay for!

My family and I came here while on a mini vacation to the coast. We were told about this place by one of the staff members at our hotel. From the outside it looks like a quaint little restaurant. However once you taste the food, you will see this restaurant is anything but. My husband ordered the pork chops and I ordered the shrimp. I can’t remember the names but the flavor I’ll never forget. Every bite was delicious. Even our waitress was awesome. She made sure we had what we needed and even was telling us other places to check out while we were in town. I’m horrible with names, but I do remember she was in the navy;) Reason I remember is because my son was so into asking her about the navy since we just saw the USS Lex. She was so friendly and was great with the kids. I honestly can’t wait till we get to go back again. I think every time we go to the coast, this will be our place to stop each time. I highly recommend you try this place. It is a little on the pricey side, but it’s not too bad and even so, It’s worth it.

The food here is very delicious. Well portioned size both for adult and children. I was very impressed. My hotel bar tender at the Springhill Marriott recommended it and I even verified Unilocal before going :) The Chop Chop is a must try along with the jumbo shrimp entrée. Our waitress was very nice, talk to us about family, and even recommended another restaurant to try for lunch for the next day. The atmosphere is very relaxing and welcoming. Our children even ate all of their food with the exception of one. LoL There is a wine bar called the Barrel right next it even you to enjoy just a glass of wine and you can of course order wine with your meal too. My family and I really enjoyed our dinner here and will come back when ever we are here for vacation again.

I love this place and would normally rate it at 4 – 5 stars. I went this last Friday night(8÷14÷2015) for my aunts birthday. The service was absolutely wonderful as usually but the heat in this restaurant on this particular night was out of control. I felt so bad for our waitress she looked tired and red faced and I had to walk outside of the restaurant about half a dozen times to even remotely enjoy my time and stay«comfortable». I had my one year old son there with me and he also couldn’t get comfortable forcing my mom to leave dinner early with him. Like I stated before I love this place, but I will not return until the AC is fixed.

The food was really good the service was awesome. The Resturant was hot; and being in Corpus Christi and it being cooler outside than inside — it was uncomfortable and hard to enjoy the food when you are sweating

The food here is incredible, well made, and delicious! Fresh fish with shrimp pasta was amazing. A definite must have! Only thing I would add is that is was a little warm in the restaurant and it took a while to get our food. Other than that it was a nice place.

While visiting the ghetto Riviera recently also known as Corpus Christi, my best friend and I wondered hopelessly if there would be a fine dining opportunity anywhere near our hotel. Corpus christi seems to be an endless string of valero/stripes gas station combos, swimsuit shops offering low, low prices, cheesy surf shops and where HEB’s go to die. Refusing to make another meal of the Bucee’s beef jerky and cheese poocorn we picked up enroute, we finally discovered an itty bitty little bistro named Black Sheep Bistro. one of those blink and you miss it places. All I can say, yes thank heaven for Black Sheep Bistro! from soup to nuts this place was excellent. I had the lamb and my best friend had the salmon. So well prepared we’re both dishes that they reminded us of when we had salmon and lamb on Patmos & Santorini! That is really saying something because them Greeks know how to cook! Please visit this little gem of a restaurant. I do wish, however, that they would limit the amount of tacky Hawaiian shirt wearing by its patrons. I understand the idea of a relaxed environment where you have an awesome meal but geez people, give us something better to look at while we are sipping our Malbec, will you?

Creative food in a comfortable setting! We tried the BSB for the first time on my birthday. I’m used to eating the same ol «island food» so trying something new was a treat! The waiter was highly attentive and nice — and told us about how they brew their own gingerbeer and make their own cocktail mixers.(Moscow Mules are a must!). We had the crab nachos for an app — how can you go wrong with nachos? And for dinner, the salmon with sweet potato hash and the seafood pasta with pesto. Yum! Both dishes were just phenomenal! The plates are a little pricey but our satisfaction was well worth it. Especially for a nice occasion. My only regret, is not living closer to North Padre so I can enjoy their tapas and happy hour at «The Barrel».

The ambiance was very nice — small, modern yet romantic feel. The food was excellent. I had the fish(black drum), and I requested no dairy. They worked with the chef to make sure my plate had no dairy(thank you!). My mother had the pasta and she LOVED it. We weren’t sure what to expect and left raving about our meal. Great place to go for a nice dinner out on the island.

I’m actually reviewing The Barrel, Black Sheep’s sister restaurant next door. They are a wine bar that serves Black Sheep’s food. Gotta try the soft shell duo, 2 soft shell crabs, see pic and you will see :)

Came here based on reviews and boy am I glad we did. This was the best food in Corpus that we have experienced. My hubby comes here often for business. We ordered the appetizer special of red snapper and risotto… Grand dish!!! Dinner my hubby had the Osso Bucco… He said it was really good. The potatoes were tender especially tender. The Osso Bucco melts in your mouth. I ordered the dinner special of scallops with sweet potato purée and spinach. The scallops were huge and the best scallops I’ve had… And I have had a lot of scallops. Whenever we’re in corpus this will always be a stop we make. We are looking forward to trying out the Sunday brunch.

We’re lucky to have a few excellent restaurants on the island. Black Sheep Bistro is one of them. The interior is dark, homey-chic(is that a thing?) and intimate. In addition to their regular menu they had a yummy sounding special — venison sliders. I didn’t have that but my girlfriend did. She was making happy noises while she was eating it so I reckon it got her seal of approval. I would have jumped at that if they’d had a GF bun option. I was in the mood for fish so I went for the Salmon Sunrise. So happy I did. A perfectly grilled hunk of salmon topped with a fried egg(from the taste of it, in real butter, yay for real food!). All of this was on a bed of gorgeous roast potatoes, tomatoes and spinach. The only thing that left a little to be desired was the tomatoes were a bit soggy. But other than that, perfectly satisfying. And oh-so-delicious. I’m looking forward to checking out other menu items.
