Made reservation for prom night and they put the tables together and everything was set. Awesome workers very friendly, but the food can be so much better and something I had shouldn’t cost me $ 22. If you don’t like dry pasta don’t get the fettuccine Alfredo, it was very dry needed more sauce. But it’s definitely a place to go when you’re 21 at their bar.

Only visited bar side this time. Good crowd, diverse mix of ages and backgrounds. Bartenders were on it despite it getting pretty packed. Waitresses were nice but not as graceful or lively as Bartenders. Well the one we had– she couldnt hear me so instead she opted to say ehhh? what i cant hear you? While making an oldman face instead of coming in closer or saying excuse me or oh im sorry i didnt catch that. Drinks were good. We had ballast point sculpin, cucumber martinis and pinot nior. Typical bar prices. Enjoyed outdoor patio with live band(Latin Night) they were pretty awesome though not my Forte but it was entertaining took it inside after an hour to enjoy DJ with a wide range of music. Overall good time if you enjoy more of a grownup civilized scene.

My husband and I went here for dinner on a Saturday evening. The food, selection of drinks, and service was pretty good; but I wouldn’t say spectacular. We went to the bar area after dinner and the drinks and live band-mediocre at best. To make matters worse the hour we were in the bar area, we witnessed 3 fights. Boys please don’t mix machismo and liquor, and if you do, please take it outside.

High prices don’t match quality and service… Took over 10 minutes to get a dinner menu, $ 35 filet was dry, and soup was barely warm. Staff is plastic and condescending(but polite), not naturally friendly.

My daughter took me to Katz21 to celebrate my 85th birthday last evening. It is everything you have heard. Yes it is expensive but out of the six in our crowd there was not one murmur of anything not being just as ordered and taste to die for. We started with several different kinds of cocktails, all to our liking. Then appetizers we shared were escargot and blue crabmeat with boiled? Shrimp, all good. I ordered Shrimp Diablo, which was a little hotter than I care for so you better ask if you order it. Then we had 2 ordered Prime Ribs, I stuffed Flounder, I fried shrimp, and I steak. For a very nice meal for something special, I recommend KATZ21.

I frequented Katz often when it was downtown and expect the same quality and service since it moved to Spohn Drive. The last time I went, which is the very last time ever – , the Katz Meow was served without sauce; the seared spinach was not eatable; the Ribeye was so tough that I finally gave up and took it to my dogs. The mashed potatoes no longer have the signature butter on top. The Crème Brulee was another bomb. The server was so bad, we almost ran out of the restaurant to get away from him.(By the way, he thought he was wonderful.) There is 1 good note: the lamb was tender and perfectly prepared. One out of 4 meals is not good odds for this party of 4 returning or for Katz surviving on the South side.

So I used Unilocal!to find this place, it had good reviews, and seemed worth some research. Next, I checked their website and once again, everything seemed legit. «Seemed» is the operative word. When I arrived I walked in and asked the hostess«Can I eat in the bar and if so, where is it?» She pointed me to the doors and the madness begins. I walk in, get a drink at the bar and notice that just about every table that is not occupied is reserved. Finally, I chose a table that had a «Reserved by Manager» sign on it as there was no where else to sit. Within seconds a waitress reminded me I couldn’t sit there but got me a table that had to be split up as I did not want to take up 6 seats for just me. As I ordered my dinner, a DJ comes on and what was a once semi quiet place with 25% occupancy is now packed with music booming. Is this a steakhouse or a club? It turns out this is a black tie event for Ronald McDonald House which is a good cause. My 2 stars is because there was no warning of the environment on Unilocal!,their website, or from the hostess. I felt like«Jump into the nightmare, the water is warm.» The bright spot was my waitress/server Gabriella is a good at what she does! Funny, polite, and is an asset to Katz21. The Ribeye was off the hook as well. Will I return? Doubtful. The fix would be to call ahead and interrogate whoever answered and that just isn’t my style. Bottom line, enter at your own risk.

Well, I read the negative reviews as well as the positive ones. I may be somewhere in between. Good service, nice atmosphere, good wine list, good salad and baked potato. I didn’t get to have the«melt in your mouth» steak but I did get a slightly tougher version that had such a pepper crusting on it(HIGHLY salted too) that the true flavor of the aged beef didn’t make it to my table. At least there wasn’t the beach sand grit in the food, so they’ve got that going for themselves. 2−½ stars but I’ll try it again on their more casual side to see if we can pump a 3 star experience out of them

Phenomenal!!! Finally a 5 star restaurant with top notch service. Our waiter was knowledgeable, courteous, and above all, professional. A huge cut of perfectly aged prime rib that literally melted in my mouth. Fresh cream of broccoli soup, sides of garlic mashed potatoes and creamy spinach. Everything was fresh and very, very good. I enjoyed our meal so much, I wish I could leave a 6th star. Eat at this place!

Excellent service from the bar side of the house. Amie was superb! The food was excellent and the attention granted by the staff was incredible. We were amazed by the attention to detail and consideration that was taken. Thank you, Amie.

Two words«Katz Meow», that crab mixture is to die for. Love that they are open for lunch, they have the best chicken ziti pasta ever. Miss going to that place. It was downtown when I last when. Have not been to the new location.

The food was yummy! I give this restaurant two stars because as I am sitting looking at a menu with $ 60 steaks, I see a couple walk in wearing shorts and t-shirts. Also, the wait staff was very pushy trying to sell desserts and wines. My husband and I won’t be going back.

I won’t go into great detail about my experience last night. But i will say this. You would expect your Gorgonzola steak with grill asparagus to be hot when it comes to your table. The group that I was with all said the same thing about our food. It was cold, basically at room temp. Not to mention that the«grilled«asparagus was raw and literally had no grill makes on them. I’ll end on this note. Our waiter was great and when we pointed these problems out to him, he stated he would get the manager. We waited 20 minutes for him. The Manager never came to our table. Just don’t go to Katz 21. You’ll get cold food and you’ll be mad at yourself for spending way to much money on a cold steak.

I actually ate on the bar side. Good ambience, and good food. I had the stuffed shrimp with pasta. It was delicious. The hostesses and waitresses are simply perfect, especially Cassidy, Shelby and Kate. On the bar side, it is a nice local hangout of what seems like a bunch of regulars. This is a good thing. From 4 – 7 they have a happy hour and there is usually some finger foods for free. The food as I mention comes from the restaurant side, which is very tasty. This is a classy bar, if you can say that, and not a seedy one. I would be back when I am in town…

This is a review for Club 21, Katz’s next-door bar. I can’t actually speak to the food at Katz 21, as I have not eaten there since I was a kid. Has it been around for twenty years already? Longer? Holy Moses. Anyway, one of my best memories of eating at Katz as a kid is that time the waitstaff allowed me to poke my head into the next-door piano and cigar bar for about thirty seconds. And whoa, this is NOT the piano bar I remember! Now, there’s an outdoor smoking area and bar with live music, and a bumpin’ indoor bar/nightclub with a dance floor and a DJ. The vibe at either is PERFECT. Everyone is(I originally wrote this on my smartphone, in the moment) in infectious good spirits. The bartenders are good-natured and fun, and incredibly professional and on-their-game. Meanwhile, all the patrons are in a great mood, and the drinks are priced to move. I’d say it’s a world-class nightclub experience at Corpus prices, and with quintessentially Texan good vibes. Enjoy! *Edit 2⁄19: I wrote this on Valentine’s Day, when the bar was *completely* slammed(and to be honest, so was I), and I am still swooning. What a fun night! The cover band was really good — live music in Corpus tends to be obnoxiously good — and overall I’d say I’m still majorly impressed. Yes, yes, we’ll be back to try the food… and the dance floor.

Robust wine list, immaculate service and quality cuts of beef expertly fired to order make this traditional steakhouse – and club– a winner in my book! Whether I’m enjoying G&Ts and live music on the patio, light nosh and drinks in Club 21, or a perfectly executed filet and decanted bottle of Blackbird Paramour in Katz formal dining room, I’ve never had a bad overall experience here, as kitchen and waitstaff deliver consistently. The dining room is billed as a «traditional steakhouse specializing in dry aged corn-fed Midwestern Prime». Starting with premium quality ingredients, Katz already has a leg up on most of the competition. The kitchen executes the traditional steaks and chops at perfect temperature to order. Greek and spinach salads were fresh and well portioned; au gratin potatoes were creamy and well seasoned. I consider the food here on a par with Ruth’s Chris and Morton’s and the décor is as upscale. The chef de cuisine ensures gorgeous platings for small bites, sides and desserts which catch the eye and stoke your appetite before the fork even touches your mouth. The service is attentive, professional, and know the menu and wine list in impressive detail! Club 21, which features a DJ inside and a live band outside most weekends, is comfortable and modern with posh décor. I prefer the little private booths alongside the entryway wall for conversation after the music starts at ten or so. The service is always amazing, with gorgeous, friendly college students in little black dresses circulating throughout and catering to your every need. Sliders and seared ahi are a couple of my favorite small bites and I’ve actually enjoyed everything on the bar menu except the formaggio(baked bucket size plate of cheese) which I found a bit too rich and a touch greasy.

Wow! What happened to Katz?! We came here a couple days ago and the service was SOSLOW. Our steaks came out lukewarm. After the 1 hour plus wait, we decided to just eat the steaks. Mind you, it was a very slow night. It wasn’t a busy Friday or Saturday night so I am very surprised the meal took soo long! We ended up letting the waiter know that we thought the food was cold and he got the manager to come to our table. The manager seemed like she was new to the dining world. She did apologize and said that next time hopefully it wasn’t slow like that day. With bad and slow service, I don’t know if there would be a next time! I was surprised she didn’t offer something more… We weren’t looking for it but I know managers offer something or take care of a meal in order to satisfy the customers. Once the manager left, the waiter came back and gave us a 10% off card that we could use for next time. HAHAHAHAHAHA! Are they serious? Come on Katz. You are one of the nicer restaurants in CC and you offer a 10% off card for horrible service and cold food? Wow, that’s embarrassing! No thanks!

Food and service is always great here! Since the location has changed from downtown to south side the food & service has remained consistent. Came in last night to meet girlfriends for food and drinks. We put a couple of tables together in the bar area to accommodate our group since most of the bar tables seat 4 ppl. Our waitress Shannon was excellent! She greeted us with a friendly smile and brought us both bar and dinner menus. It is nice to know the full menu is available in the bar area and just not light bites. We ordered cocktails off of the specialty menu. The martinis and specialty drinks are 12 and 13 bucks. Try the cucumber martini it’s has organic cucumber vodka and is rimmed with a chili, lime, salt mix. Yum. A South Texas favorite! For dinner I ordered the Ahi Tuna appetizer and a Greek Salad. Both are house favorites. I do also recommend the Katz Meow app and Petite Filet! The bar starts to turn more lounge/night club at 10 pm and you will see everyone you know in town by this time! There is live band on the patio and I saw several ladies getting down to the music. Overall this is a great place for a fancy dinner in the main dinning area, the bar is always lively, and the patio looks fun as well. Intimate date night, out with the family, fun with friends, or really any occasion Katz has something for everyone.

It’s been almost a year and we’ve been to Katz 21’s new location a couple of times so this update is a culmination of those experiences. All-in-all, for class, atmosphere, the whole works, yeah Katz is a great place to go. The food is, by and large, excellent. The service can NOT be touched — they should give lessons to OTHER restaurants around town! The first time we went, I had the duck breast. Flavor was spot-on delicious, but I found the meat chewy. And, the portion size(for the price) was underwhelming… but, again, flavor was really good. The second time we went, it was a scaled-down, «set’ menu and I chose a filet. WOW! No better word to say it. It was FORK-TENDER and prepared perfectly. Just amazing, considering this was for a party of 40+ people and all the food had to prepared at the same time and served before it got cold. They did it all with magnificent efficiency. My only critique would be their flirtation with salt. The shrimp bisque I had was quite salty. I do like my salt, so this had to have really turned off some folks there who would be otherwise sensitive to it. The garlic mashed potatoes were bordering on being over-salted, but were still creamy and delicious. So, I still stand by my earlier comment. Whatever the reason to celebrate, Katz is an excellent place to do it. Or, if you just want a classy place to go to for dinner, they’re hard to beat.
