Baja Fresh Mexican Grill

Baba Fresh isn’t bad, but this one had such slow service I had to walk out. Two people working, one on the register, one making burritos. Ten people waiting for food they’d ordered. It was a management mess in there. It always baffles me to think that someone must actually be in charge of such a place and accountable for their lack of profits. I can’t imagine what meetings they have with the owner. How is that person not fired and replaced? How is the «e» in the sign perpetually burnt out? How does the owner not care more about their investment? Baffling.

Dirtier than most other branches with a salsa bar looking more like an e coli bar. I saw 4 employees, but only 2 were actually working during a crazy rush. I’m not sure if there were doing the classic hide-​in-​the-​back routine, but whatever they were doing back there must have been more important than serving 35 customers. Which leads me to believe this store owner doesn’t know how to run a business. Hope they take away this location’s franchise license.

Leah is the best. Great customer service and good person. Been a few times and a good vibe is nice. Food is good and good price point.

Food was fine, normal Baja Fresh quality but restaurant was filthy. Not to mention the workers were cleaning the place all around where we were eating. Even after the lazily cleaned it, it still looked terrible. Definitely not going back.

the customer service is really bad, I called my order ahead of time, is wasn’t ready when I came in, the food is bland :(i gotta beg for chips, and I get sad long faces, the regular time I go in it’s between 1:30 and 2pm :(and that’s my experience, I keep going cuz there are not a lot of places to eat around here (corona del mar where I work)

I don’t like giving negative reviews, but my experience here was just a waste of money. I asked for a Nacho burrito with Wahoo and no jalepenos. The cashier asked if I wanted rice, and I said that I did want rice but no jalepenos. Then she explained that they didn’t have rice, and I said that was fine. She then repeated my order: Nacho burrito with Wahoo and no jalepenos, and I said that was right. When my food came out, the burrito was already ripped and falling apart on the lower half. I didn’t mind this, but then I bit into the burrito and saw my fish burrito was a steak burrito. I then looked on my receipt and saw that I had been charged for a ‘Diablo Steak Burrito’. I was surprised that the cashier got my order wrong when she had confirmed my order to me correctly. I decided not to say anything because I know customer service jobs are tough and the cashier was friendly and just made a mistake. I tossed the burrito, and won’t be coming back.

I now know why it’s 2 ½ stars average… It should NOT be that high.
Waited 25 minutes for food, when it came, the inside corn tortilla was soggy and the outside corn tortilla was stale.
A poster on the wall states their food has oleit acid, some mono saturated fat that is supposed to lower cholesterol… I am not sure that’s a quality for Baka «fresh» to be touted.
It was lunch time and very busy but 25 minutes for «semi fast food» is slower than a sit down restaurants.

This Baja Fresh sucks! I play beach volleyball in Newport Beach and used to come there quite often. It was OK a few years ago, on par with other Baja Fresh location elsewhere.
Recently my family and I ate there twice, and we had really bad experience. Food was overcooked, meat was dry and very chewy. On the top, the food didn’t set well with us.
Even though it conveniently located for me, I will not eat there again.
My wife refuses to go to any other Baja Fresh locations because of our experience.

I wouldn’t say this is the best Baja Fresh food-​wise — I’ve definitely had better at other branches — but if the food were a bit better, I’d give it a 5.
Reason is I was super impressed with the night manager (name is slipping me but short-​haired white woman with glasses, 35−40ish yrs old). She was super articulate, made good recommendations, and was friendly. Some people are just born for customer service and their passion for a good customer experience shows. This is the level of service you expect at a more mom and pop place, not a chain. Promote this woman! Before someone poaches her!

The tacos and burritos here are not bad, it’s baja style, so kind of bland, not too cheesy. If you drown everything in hot sauce it gets a lot better.
Prices here are the real downside. For what you get, the prices are too high.
The whole place is spotless.
Salsas are pretty good.
Ingredients are fresh.

We did a take-​out fish tostado last night. The pieces of fish were the size of a pencil and it was rubbery and had the texture of chicken. The taco shell was disgusting and soggy and the lettuce was very wilted. Bad news! We will never be back.

Ugh! Just reviewed my left-​overs. NO WAY. Not calorie-​worthy! Also, salsas are not good. Rice is horrible. Poor quality ingredients.
Too bad — I like the whole idea, and they portray a pretty good image! :(

Have not been to one of these for a while. Got a coupon and tried it again. It was much worst then it used to be. Prices are outrages with Almost every dish at around $ 10. Lots of rice, very little chicken in my burrito.

Doesn’t accept coupons on your phone! Hello! We are in the 21^st century! Can you stop sending flyers to homes, save some trees and also help the economy? Anyhow, the KFC across the street closed, so did the coffee bean, I hope you guys stay open, but come on join the 21^st century.

It had been years since I had Baja Fresh. Since we had driven by this location many times on our way to Fashion Island, I knew about this location and decided to stop for a quick lunch.
I had my Baja chicken burrito and hubby had his veggie burrito bowl. Everything was fresh and tasty. Since we had the dog with us, we ended up sitting outside.
The only negative was that the outside was pretty dirty. It would be great if they hosed it down once a week or so. There were dried up salsa stains in various areas along with bunches of human hair that had rolled into a huge ball of fluff that got stuck on my dogs leg. It was pretty gross. Since this was outside, I’m only taking one star off.
Otherwise, great food and service!

Horrible service wait time was ridiculous

I think I would rate this place 3.5 stars. Location is Great… easy, with decent parking and outdoor seating. Great for summer. Fresh food. Staff has HIGH turnover. They are usually in training, and aren’t very competent. Sorry. I go there quite a bit, because you can buy Script for Baja Fresh and the location is close by. It’s a short distance from beach, so we can grab food, and then head to beach.
If you are on a diet… the Shrimp Steak bowl is pretty healthy.

The staff always seems to be in a rush here… to do anything but help you. But in a town (Corona del Mar) very low on chain restaurants (thankfully), this stands out. They will serve you even one minute until they close, without complaint, unlike other places in the area. Food is consistent to other Baja Fresh locations, meaning delicious.

Would a casual plus quick dining chain usually garner a review? Probably not… but let’s give credit where credit is due. I was hunting for a semi healthy choice in the area that would not kill too much time or cash. I can’t even remember the last time I ate at a Baja Fresh or similar.
That being said, I was pleasantly surprised to find this item on the menu.
Skinny Chicken Bowl
Baja Fresh’s New Skinny Chicken Bowl, Achiote marinated fire-​grilled chicken, atop black beans, green chili tomatillo rice, and topped with calabasitas squash, achiote onions and topped with Tomatillo Salsa Fresca.
The food looked and tasted better than described. They claim only 650 calories and it was filling, so much so I took almost half to go. It was less than 7 bucks too! Nice !
Count me as a fan for this particular menu item to be sure.

5 chicken tacos and two waters $ 21.00
Then the tacos or I should say the chicken was hard and chewy like they were really over cooked. Then I talked with the manager and she offed me nothing. WOW! I hate giving 1 star reviews but they deserve it when the manager fails to do anything about the problem.
