I heard a lot of good things about this chain and I heard the one in Newport was the best. I came here expecting amazing tacos but they tasted like ordinary tacos. I got the carne asada, shrimp and fish tacos with everything in each one. The tortillas were not warm and they were chewy. The carne was cold and not very well seasoned. They made the fish and shrimp right when I ordered it, so those were warm but the quality of the seafood was nothing special. There is seating outside(3 tables) and a restroom around the corner. There is parking in front of the restaurant and street parking across the street. TIP: The cool thing about the place is if you join their texting list you can get a free taco if you buy one.

I’m not usually one for Mexican food. I ordered a burrito and as soon as I took one bite I knew that I’d be back. The flavors danced on my tongue and the food slid effortlessly down my throat. If I lived closer you’d see me every day here. Even though I’m not exactly close to Chronic Tacos, it’s worth the drive. Eating here is one of the best decisions I’ve made in a long time. The tortillas are so fresh and flaky and the chicken is seasoned to perfection. The rice, onions, and cilantro certainly make an amazing combination that you must not miss out on. The best thing about this fantastic food is the guacamole and salsa together. They work in harmony in ways that I cannot describe. If Chronic Tacos were a person, I would be married to them. It breaks my heart that I cannot spend every day of my entire life eating Chronic Tacos.

This is one of my go to’s for tacos. The prices are affordable, I dream about the carnitas nightly, the customer service is always on point and overall it captures the ambiance and culture of SoCal. It feels like home.

I won’t count this place out, but definitely not that impressed. My husband really loved their breakfast burrito, even going so far as to call it «awesome!» but the rest of what we ordered was okay. The nachos were definitely leaving something to be desired! Everything piled onto the top few chips. The tacos were also lacking a lot of flavor.

This place was pretty good. The shrimp tacos are a must. I would just stay away from the pulled pork as ive had issues a few times with fatty cartilage stuff being left inside the meat

These employees do not deserve to work here. They are never open on time in the morning. Long after opening hours, they are puttering around, and half the time they do not even have the metal trays over the hot water at the serving area yet. I don’t actually blame the employees: when the cat is away, the mice come out and play. These actions simply reflect poor management.

So far the best Chronic Taco I have been too! I always order the the burritos from Chronic Tacos and this location never fails to «hook-it-up» regarding the meat and other fillings. My co-worker and I are constantly traveling around the OC and CT is always on our minds. I can never personally finish one of these gigantic stuffed burritos, definitely enough to feed 2. The Al Pastor and Carnitas is on point, the most def have a returning happy customer this end.

We come out to California each year looking forward to fish tacos. We ordered the beer battered and grilled mahi mahi fish tacos and were told it would be 10 minutes, so we ordered the pork(all baja style) to hold us over… when we got our order we were blown away on the freshness of the flavor!!! For those that like fish tacos, I would highly recommend stopping in. P. S. The service was friendly and quick… just what you are looking for when you have 2 children!!!

Chronic Taco is the place to go! It is some of the best Mexican food that I have ever had. Greatest part is… they have breakfast ALLDAY! Give the breakfast tacos or breakfast burrito a try and you won’t regret it. On top of that, the customer service is fantastic(Jose) Grab a burrito and hit the beach… can’t beat it!

Don’t see why this Chronic Tacos got such a high rating, that’s the Unilocal trickery I guess. Got the carne asada burrito combo with drinks and salsa. Burrito was bland, rice wasn’t flavorful and dry, meat was decent but lacking much flavor. I haven’t been to Chronics in years since they first opened. I believe those early days the taste was still there. Now i feel like it’s trying to be a Chipotle but not working out. Won’t be back again. People were friendly though, girl at counter was sweet. Save your money and drive to the ghetto for real Mexican food!

Best Mexican food around. Dopest little shop. Food is fast, fresh and tasty. Workers are always friendly and a pleasure. I live down the street and love the feeling of a local joint like Chronic. If you’re looking for inexpensive Mexican food that’s quality and tastes good, this is the spot. They’re open late which is super convenient and nice when you get home late and are starving. Everything on the menu is good. Chicken quesadilla, flautas, potato taco, and carnitas are favorites. Oh and you gotta get the mini churro bites. Those are a must.

Visiting a dear friend in the area and we had a hankering for fish tacos(beach + beautiful day + summer = duh). Chronic was the recommendation. Hmmm… I tried a battered fish taco and a grilled fish taco. Hard to believe, but I am not in the camp of «everything fried is better», but when talking fish tacos, it seems you must at least give it a go. So go I went. Eh. Simply not impressed. Grilled version was lackluster with good fish flavour; actually, all you tasted was the flat red salsa that covered everything. Battered version was superior as the batter was tasty, and managed to hold its crispness in the midst of more red salsa. Others had variations of burritos which were deemed tasty(and were definitely generous portions). Main takeaway? It is fine.

5 stars cause this place is dank. Jose & his crew gave us fantastic service, and the quality of food was outstanding. If you’re looking for a practical bite for a great price roll through and you won’t be disappointed. I’ll definitely be back soon. Thanks Jose and crew!

As others have said there aren’t any real taquerias in the area which is a shame considering tacos and the beach seem like they go hand in hand. For a good taco in this area though, the Corona Del Mar location of Chronic Tacos did not disappoint. I had the al Pastor and the fish taco while my wife stuck to a shrimp and potato taco. All four choices were excellent. Much has been made of the service but I found it above par. Errol was the manager on duty and he greeted us, chatted us up while we ate and took a genuine interest in us, making sure that everything was to our liking. The people above him need to know they have a heck of an employee. He insured that we will be returning to that location any time we are in the area. If there is a downside it was the lack of seating but that was easily made up by using the patio rail as a makeshift bar table. It works and wasn’t too bad. If you are looking for a good taqueria in the area, try Chronic… You won’t be disappointed.

Sadly the food is good but the manager Joaquin has a really bad attitude. Ordered two kids burritos and they said they were out of kids tortillas. So I suggested just use a regular tortilla to make the burritos and make them smaller. So they made the two burritos and when I go to pay for them the manager says they are regular size burritos and not kids. I told him they were made smaller with less amounts to accommodate the kids since they were out of smaller tortillas and he was really upset like I was trying to get something for free. So the two 9 year old boys and I in shorts sat outside to eat and its raining and cold, so I ask if they can turn on the heaters and the same manager says the heaters aren’t working so the we froze. It is sad this guy(Joaquin) is so careless with the restaurant. What’s interesting is it the managers role to have tortillas in stock and have the heaters working. If Joaquin worked for me he would be fired. It’s a service business!

* I raised my review a star after someone from the company reached out to me about the bad experience. That shows a lot about how they care for their customers and how it’s easy to let one experience tarnish what might be a good restaurant. I am impressed. When I am around another location in the future, I will give them another try. I will hope for a better experience. The tacos were okay here. The shrimp tacos were probably the best, but the rest were just typical Mexican street like tacos. I may have given this place a 3 star, but the guy taking the orders was rude. I don’t want to go to a fast food place to be accosted. I would rather go to taco bell then have to deal with that guy again.

I’ve been here plenty. The first time I had chronic tacos was at Irvine location even though there is one near my barn. CT’s has become a fast growing small company and they revamped the food back in 2011 or 2012. It’s not too bad. However all i eat here is the breakfast burritos no matter the time. I like the bfast burros because you can choose what you want. The basics: i. eggs ii. bacon, sausage, chorizo or mixture iii. potato everything else is available and not extra charge unless specified… –beans –more meat(extra charge) like carne asada or carnitas with the breakfast meats.(sounds a bit disgusting but they make a killer machaca if pork eggs are your thing. –cheese –rice –onions –cilantro –chile, lime, etc etc etc. and much more. The food is basically $ 10 no matter how you spin it. The bfast burro are a good size. and the potatos they use are great. It’s chopped potatoes and not has browns or french fries. Give them a shot. I don’t know if all CT’s are like this one. ah crap. i reviewed the wrong chronic tacos LOL
