We can’t thank Corolla Village BBQ enough for taking care of our large order. We got ribs, ¼ chickens, pulled pork, coleslaw, baked beans, potato salad and cornbread. The food was fresh and fantastic, definitely a crowd pleaser. Customer service was great from start to finish. We would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for good BBQ in the Corolla area.

don’t even bother. not real bbq – not even a smoke ring and a fake pile of wood out back. roosters and chickens on tables not really health code??? hubbie is huge bbq officianado and this place was clearly cooked in a crockpot in the back. maybe the corn bread was good. the potato salad was mayo w/a little potato and the slaw had no taste. DONOTDOIT.

Hidden gem. It would be easy to miss this place, as it’s off the beaten path. Great BBQ, better than the others I’ve tried in the OBX. Try the chicken, it’s delicious. I agree with the other reviews though, don’t expect indoor sit down seating, there are only a few picnic tables outside. We called ahead and picked up, as we were only staying down the street.

Amazing!!! We got take out from there for our whole crowd of 17 people. We had ribs, pulled pork, and cornbread. Everyone was raving about the food! I would highly recommend eating here while in Corolla! We will definitely have this again.

Stick with the staples — pork sandwich and chicken. Ribs weren’t great. The sides were good but not great. Our 11-month old liked the candied yams and cornbread. The picnic tables were nice and shaded. But it’s a cute little spot in historic Corolla to take kids for a quick and casual lunch outside before or after looking at the lighthouse or the wild horse museum.

This place never fails, great BBQ for 14 served up 10 mins. The food is excellent, pulled poer ribs and chicken were all great. The cornbread is also killer.

We ate the sh*t out of this! The baked beans were fabulous — and we don’t usually care either way about the beans. The BBQ pork was super-yum and we will definitely be coming back. Not a huge fan of the potato salad or macaroni salad — too sweet for me. Will order double beans next time.

This is a small barbeque stand in Corolla but it is a little bit hard to find. It is in Historic Corolla Village which is about 1 block West of main road(Route 12). There are 2 dirt roads without street signs before and after the Citgo gas station on Route 12 that will get you to the little Historic Village. It is literally a stand, not a restaurant where you order. There are about 5 benches in front to eat there. In the off season(not summer) they are only til 4pm The menu is pretty simple(see picture) I had the chicken and ribs combo which was great. I didn’t really like the sauce they give you with the meal but they have 2 sauces on the counter which I liked a lot better. There is a «vinegar» sauce and a hot sauce which were very tasty. So if you do not plan to eat there, then take some of those sauces in addition to the basic sauce they give you. The main reason for the 4 stars is that it was a bit on the expensive side. Compared to a restaurant it is not expensive but for a stand, it should be a little cheaper.

Brothers in law make a yearly pilgrimage to this place. Good NC bbq which is sort of an acquired taste. Every year they return with glowing reviews. Outdoor eating on picnic tables. Near the Lighthouse(a must visit), Nature Center(live aquarium inside and historic info) and Duck Club(where there is some sort of festival going on all the time)

Hard to find, kind of scary looking little place. But the health rating says 99.0 and the inside looks spotless. No inside seating but the food was pretty damn good! Great NCBBQ, baked beans were on point and I don’t really like baked beans! They have a mascot too. A really fat squirrel. He comes right up to the table. He’s harmless unless you have BBQ sauce on your finger. I would recommend. Wish they had indoor searing and French fries but This was a real gem of a find!

I’m not a BBQ fan but my family loves it. Pleasantly surprised that the chicken wasn’t dripping with sauce. The chicken was a little on the dry side. Macaroni salad was true Carolina as well as the slaw. Others had pulled pork sandwiches in our party. From the way they inhaled them I’d say this place was a hit! It was a hot day and next time we’ll just do take out. Too hot and buggy to sit under the trees for this northerner.

Decent BBQ. Not much of a menu. Corn bread was good but during packaging it landed in my baked beans which sucked. The chicken I got was ok I was looking for more of a sweet BBQ taste and I just didn’t find it in this dish. I had high expectations for some southern BBQ. Ill try another BBQ next vacation.

Wasn’t too impressed with this BBQ. We called ahead to order and then picked up. I wasn’t thrilled with the selection of sides to begin with. I had hoped for macaroni and cheese but they didn’t offer it. I had the ¼ piece of BBQ chicken with potato salad and candied yams. The potato salad was very runny and didn’t seem to have many actual potatoes in it. I also wasn’t a fan of how the yams were cooked. Thought they’d be sweeter. The chicken was alright; a little dry though. The best item this place offered was the cornbread… absolutely delicious! Price wasn’t bad at all. I just wasn’t a fan. There are plenty of other BBQ joints in the Outerbanks for us to try in the future.

Unilocal finally steered us wrong with this one. We got the chicken and rib combo with baked beans, mac salad and corn bread. Both the ribs and chicken were so over-cooked they were almost inedible. The beans and corn bread were okay and the mac salad was tasteless. Being from out-of-state we wanted to experience NCBBQ but were so disappointed. Guess we are in the wrong part of the state for it.

It was aight. You order your food inside a little«shack,» then you eat outside on picnic tables. Here is what we ordered with comments… Ribs– tender, fall off the bone. However, there really wasn’t much smoke flavor. The taste was dominated by the amount of rub they use. Pulled Pork– the pulled pork was pulled pork. Nothing to write home about. They were $ 4.50 for a small, and $ 5.50 for a large. This does not include sides. Chicken– dry, needed sauce. Baked Beans– they use at least two different beans to make their baked beans. They were good, but not great. Potato Salad– I don’t recommend. Corn bread– very good… Playground– there is a very nice little playground adjacent to this BBQ place. It’s great for some post meal fun for kids 10 and under. All in all it was an average lunch. I would not go back, at least not with the expectations that I got from other Unilocalers. My official rating would be 2.5 stars, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt.

Decent. Not 4.5 star. In the middle of a tourist spot. Ribs were dry. ¼ chicken was ok. Pork BBQ sandwich was best but not picked well. Lots of cartilage. 20 bucks not bad priced. Not returning.

A no-frills bbq shack in the heart of historic Corolla Village, this was a great late lunch when we were in the OBX. My boyfriend’s mom’s has gluten intolerance, but doesn’t have Celiac’s like her sister, so it’s a bit easier to take her out to eat. Anyway, the gentleman working the counter was very helpful, even going so far as to pull out a reference binder of all the ingredients used in making the food. Worcestershire sauce is used in the bbq sauce, so be wary if you are super allergic. She decided to take a risk and have the ribs, which were falling-off-the-bone tender. I had the pulled pork sandwich with slaw, and we also ordered chicken, beans, and cornbread. Delicious! The fun part was watching the chickens wander around begging for scraps. They stayed far away from the tables when dogs were around, but the dogs couldn’t be bothered and really wanted what the humans were having. If you are in the area, I would recommend coming early, especially if you want to order chicken. That was the entrée that ran out when we were there.

Best BBQEVAR!!! Wow! Chicken & Ribs, Awesome! I never knew beans & macaroni salad could taste so divine! As a transplant from the San Francisco Bay Area I have only experienced Southern BBQ for a short while, but quite a bit in the past 8 months. Corolla Village BBQ is the best I have tasted so far! If you’re planning a trip to the Outer Banks, this little BBQ stand is worth the trip up to Corolla. So hop in your Corolla(or anything with wheels really), and head to Corolla(pronounced Core-aw-la); impress the locals with your proper pronunciation of their lil town, enjoy the beach & Currituck Beach Lighthouse, and most importantly grab some Corolla Village BBQ!!! Tip: Check their hours and plan your adventures accordingly, as we barely made it before they closed!

Stopped by here purely based on Unilocal reviews… driving by it looks like a shady little shack next to a playground. I was not disappointed! My wife eats only Carolina BBQ and she loved the pulled pork — should have gotten the sandwich though, but the plate was GINORMOUS. I went with the combination plate, and it disappeared with breathtaking speed. Between the two plates and sides it was more than enough to feed a family of three(my six year old devoured their chicken). The sides were also quite good, and being no culinary expert can only hope that they were home made? The potato salad, on a hot Saturday afternoon, was more cool and refreshing than my cold soda! The cole slaw was awesome, and the beans were tasty. Cornbread? Delicious. Upside for families, there’s a playground a stone’s throw away. Upside for folks coming back from beach driving, there’s an air compressor station with multiple taps to refill your tires… also a stone’s throw away. Don’t hesitate if you’re looking for some good ‘cue! And kokua the chickens. :D
