Murphy’s Furniture

After visiting six other furniture stores in Hillsboro and Beaverton, we decided to finally check out this local place, which didn’t look like much from the outside (we at first thought it was an Irish pub). I was stunned — it had, by far, the prettiest, highest-​quality wood furniture, especially all kinds of tables and buffets and what not, that I had seen in all of our searches. They’ve got a lot of classic designs, but a lot of «newish» stuff as well. There was NO pressure to buy, and the friendly staff were happy to answer any of our questions, and leave us alone to wander around. They had a dining room table we fell in love with, and we special ordered the table in a particular color, with matching chairs (the chairs were already done — we bought them off the floor). All was delivered on time by two super nice delivery guys. But when my husband saw the set after work, he didn’t like how different the table had turned out from the chairs in terms of color. He called Murphy’s and two of the owners came right out — ON THEIR DAY OFF. One of the owners could tell my husband was really disappointed, and offered to try a darker finish on the chairs to make them more like the table. He took the chairs away and, the next day, came back with the chairs, which, while still not a perfect match, are much more similar in tone to the table, and my previously-​disappointed husband was VERY pleased. I’m giving Murphy’s five stars for their excellent selection, their competitive prices, their on-​time, oh-​so-​careful delivery, their efforts to make it right, and for our GORGEOUS dining room set. I’ll so be back.

Princess picked out a square-​ish ottoman/​bean bag sort of thing, pink. It cost $ 20. Not exactly what I had pictured, it’s smaller than what I was envisioning, but she’s happy.
She also wandered around the store exclaiming about things. I admit I saw a few things that I sort of pined for. Still thinking about one particular table… some of their things were kind of expensive, I thought, but sort of one of a kind, which makes the expensive part less bothersome.
They have some cool stuff. I think it’s worth the trip. They had particularly cute unfinished garden benches and the like, and they had a big sign that said they offer free refinishing classes.
Cool.

Our experience at Murphy’s Furniture was fantastic. We’ve been looking for the right furniture for our bedroom for years. Years because we kept buying the wrong furniture, looking for deals on craigslist then getting it in our room and realizing it was all wrong. The problem was we weren’t getting what we REALLY wanted. Quality furniture that is well made and thus lasts a long time is worth the investment and at Murphy’s, not only is it well made, it is custom made to fit exactly what you’re looking for at a reasonable price. We found the perfect pieces of furniture for our room and then got to take part in creating them to our taste and style with the knowledgeable help of Kathy and Mary who have at least 30 yrs experience. It’s wonderful to finally have the room we’ve been wanting and to know that we are DONE looking for furniture for a long time. We would recommend anyone looking for good, quality furniture check out Murphy’s first!
