We stayed for one night and it was just ok. The hotel is located right near the train tracks and we were woken up by the train in the middle of the night. The train roars by blowing its horn not once, not twice, but three times. So if you’re looking for a good night sleep with no interruption then I would suggest going somewhere else. Hotel by train tracks is never good! I deducted one star for not letting us know about the train. Had the front desk mentioned the train when we checked in, I would have slept with ear plugs. Not sure that would have helped block the noise though. Our room was clean and it smelled like it had just been cleaned. Honestly, the smell was a little overwhelming at first, but after a while, we got used to it. We utilized the sofa bed and it was ok, a little better than other sofa beds we’ve used. The extra linens were in the closet and it included a fitted sheet, flat sheet, blanket, and extra pillow. On the day we checked in, it was raining really hard, and I didn’t take all my things out of my car yet. When we got to the room, I noticed it was close to the stairs. I saw an employee vacuuming the hallway so I asked if the stairs led to an exit, and where should I park to be closer to that door. He was very nice and showed me where I could park so that it would be easier to bring my luggage from the car to the door. The breakfast in the morning was good and the attendant kept the area clean.

Wonderful hotel. Cheyenne checked us in and what a delight. She has such an awesome personality ! We have always loved this hotel. Brian the manager is always so accommodating and friendly. We stayed here when it first opened 4 years ago and we keep coming back. We always recommend this hotel for our family and friends as a great stop over to Nebraska.

Always looking for good hotels for football weekends. This hotel is fairly new, I think. And it is awesome. You can walk to the Hawkeye Express for the game. But the rooms are awesome. We had a studio suite and it was great. There were so many touches that are missing in chain Marriott and Hilton Hotels. The wallpaper was gorgeous. The carpet was nice. The bed was great. The *only* bad thing was the pillows. They were too mushy and too soft. The bathroom had touches you expect at home and not at a hotel. Besides having drawers to put your makeup and hair styling stuff in, there were shelves by the sink that were very handy. There were also shelves in the toilet/shower area. You just don’t see that in middle of the line hotel chains such as Marriott and Hilton. Whoever designed this just did a great job. The only bad thing is on the architect – you can hear the people above you. It’s not like the Embassy Suites in downtown Manhattan, where you can hear your next door neighbor discuss his next deal. You can’t hear the people next door. But you can hear the steps of the people above you. Which is unfortunate. Other than that… I didn’t try out the pool and the hot tub, normally we do; but ran out of time. The front desk people were great. Location is great. I walked the trail near the hotel during one of the Cardinals games. Great stress reliever. All in all, will be back for future football weekends. Loved this place.

Love love this place not only do they allow dogs the place is magnificent. It is so clean, quite, friendly staff and fast check in! The breakfast is really good providing warm options. Such as sausage and gravy, biscuits, oatmeal just to name a few. I was on the first floor and never heard anything above me great night sleep and wonderful location. Near several places to eat and right off I 80 W so you near gas stations and places to eat plus a walking trail behind the hotel!

Update: despite being condescended by the overly nice desk attendant upon check in, I had a really nice stay. They have the managers dinner thing which was nachos one day which just hit the spot perfectly. Convenient to get to the zu of I campus and right across the way from the mall and skating arena. There is the small aspect of the train that goes by at odd hours, but I managed to stay in a room on the other side of the hotel so I got minimal noise. I’ll be back.

Excellent Staff from the manager to housekeeping! They work very hard to be sure your stay is way above your expectations! Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Housekeeping keeps your room stocked with fresh linens daily. We stayed here for 8 weeks while my husband worked nearby. We had four children to entertain. There is a clean pool, always stocked with fresh towels, and a small putt putt golf as well as walking trails and shopping within walking distance. Staff are very helpful at helping you find things to do, restaurant suggestions etc. The laundry room on site is fantastic! Always clean and updated machines make laundry a breeze! All in all excellent property!!!

Took my sisters puppy out of the room and out of the hotel. While she was outside she got away and the hotel people stopped looking for her for 2 hours before we were notified that she was missing. We searched for 10 hours in the freezing cold. We finally found her around 11 pm after being outside for almost 12 hours. She was freezing cold and soaking wet laying in a ditch. We immediately took her to the emergency vet where they tried to do CPR for 45 mins to revive her faint heart beat with no success. An extremely TRAUMATIC experience for my family and I. She was only a 10 pound daschund who had just turned 1 the week before. RIPLULAHWEMISSYOUSOMUCH!

If you have fur babies… STAYAWAY!!! This place will go into your room while you are gone and remove your pets if they are too loud. Then proceed to lose them. NOT take care of them. Lose them. One of two dogs removed from a room(for being too loud) pet friendly hotel, correct? Slipped out of his collar and ran away. They searched for minimal time. Dog was eventually found almost dead because of the cold. Dog did die because of hypothermia eventually. Disgusting and disgraceful. Will NEVER stay with this chain with my pets and will advise all my pet loving friends to do the same. SHAMEONYOU!!! Deserves no stars, dog killers!!!

Wow! We were pleasantly surprised. hotels that accepted dogs were limited in this university of iowa area. checked online and this hotel was the only one that didn’t seem dumpy or run down. got there and was surprised at how clean and welcoming they were to us all. My son sat in the lobby quite a bit with our dog and she loved all the attention she got from others! We saw lots of ppl with dogs. kitchen, pullout couch, seperate br in our room. nice free breakfast. We will definitely return. it’s about 8 mins to u of iowa.

This is a relatively new hotel that is very close to the University of Iowa Health Care and lots of chain shopping. Otherwise, the area surrounding the hotel is pretty blah. The property is clean and well-maintained. Included in the room cost is a relatively decent self-serve breakfast as well as a nightly meal that is pretty meh. Staff are very pleasant and helpful. The rooms are smaller than a lot of Residence Inns, but the décor is pleasant. My room had a bit of a musty smell that worsened when I turned up the thermostat so the a/c wasn’t running constantly. The mattress was more of a large rock than a mattress. While supportive and not at all saggy, it was far too hard to be comfortable. The price was very reasonable for the quality of the hotel. I would stay there again when visiting Iowa City.

It’s a good thing when the staff at a hotel knows you by name. It’s really awesome when they go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. Whenever I travel to Iowa, I alternate between the Residence Inn and the full service Marriott in Coralville. I must say, the staff at the Residence Inn dominates in overall customer service versus the Marriott(and the Marriott is pretty fantastic.) They open the pool early every morning for me(I’m a 5am lap swim person. Yes I’m weird like that). The gym is open 24 hours and is decent. Couple treadmills, ellipticals and a bike. Has enough free weights for a full workout. It’s clean and has plenty of towels and filtered water. They have a pretty decent ‘chef’. Every morning there’s free breakfast and different themes for the evening meals. If you like to cook your own food there’s a full size fridge and a stove top to cook in your room. Pots pans utensils. Everything is there. There’s even a mini business center in the lobby. Free wifi! Seriously stay there just to experience the friendly and knowledgeable staff. I can’t sing their praises enough. Solid crew.

Large, clean, well equipped full kitchen in our room, prompt and attentive service from every employee we encountered. Stayed on third floor and could hear some muffled TV noise through our walls, but considered it very quiet overall and slept very well. Nice big pool. Wide, well-lit hallways and above-average lighting in the rooms. Free wi-fi worked great and you can pay a fee if you need upgrade to a faster speed. The breakfast offered in the lobby dining room was above expectations. Scrambled eggs, sausage links, make-your-own waffles with blueberries and whipped cream for topping, yogurt/granola, bread and a toaster, and more. They even have good coffee!

This is a brand new Marriott hotel. My hotel room was really a suite that had a separate bedroom, and a living room /kitchen combo. The kitchen included a full size fridge, real stove, sink, etc. The room was very large — approximately twice the size of a normal room. The lobby, gym, pool and other amenities are great. The hotel also includes a complimentary breakfast, free wifi and a host of very friendly staff. The hotel is near a mall with every store and restaurant you can imagine. Note, the google maps satellite image still shows an empty field so just use your gps to get you there.
