Had oatmeal and a fresh cup of tea and loved it! Wide open space. Did an interview and only a little background noise(but I was there durning a slow time). So many choices of tea and the black mango was a great one to start off with. Close to the hotel and strong wifi!

Oh me oh my, I cannot wait for this little gem to get in the full swing of things. Here I am, wishing our glorious creative corridor had more hip, modern coffee shops and poof! Capanna to the rescue, drive-through and all. This new Capanna location is right off the main strip(2nd Street) through Coralville, and it’s easy peasy to access from the interstate and Coral Ridge Mall. They have plenty of parking plus a drive-through for the family jalopy, and a scenic paved trail passes behind the café for those traveling via the man-powered two wheeler. My café miel was superb, baristas were a blast to talk to, and the atmosphere is on it’s way to perfection. Excellent loose leaf tea selection too — sourced from a tea supplier in Des Moines. According to the baristas, there are plans in the works to commission an artist to paint a mural on the large East wall. For now, the furniture is modern-contemporary(though I hope they add more seating), and the overall vibe is nice and open without feeling like the person next to you is in your business. Can’t wait to see the finished space!

Pros: 1. Excellent coffee. I had a macchiato and it was excellent. The glassware for drinks staying there are really unique as well. 2. Really enjoy the wide open modern feel of the shop, particularly the bar seating. The atmosphere I enjoy for sitting and working. 3. Didn’t try the Gelato, but it looked excellent. 4. Location is likely convenient for many with a drive, especially coming through west side of Coralville. There is a drive through option for those on the go. Cons: 1. Décor. Definitely needs some. Currently nothing on the walls. They mentioned that a mural is going to be painted on one portion of the wall however. 2. Depending on the crowd, more seating may be needed. It was open, but perhaps too open(lots of open floor space).

Delicious gelato. They’re going to need more help if they’re going to stay in business. Only one person on duty tonight. Had a 10-minute wait with no one in front of us because the one worker was making coffee for someone at the drive-through. She was very friendly.

What a nice little treat to discover that Capanna had opened a second location down just off the Coralville strip! We came in on a day when the line at Starbucks was super long and, per usual, we’re very excited about what we found! A slightly smaller and more industrial version of the North Liberty store, this place has plenty of room to spread out. A couple more couches and an armchair or two, and this place is a spot where you could do the majority of your chillaxing. Currently, there are half a dozen tables, a sweet and rustic looking long wooden bench along one of the walls. There’s a lot of open space which is something I’m sure they will continue to fill up as the place gets busier. The offerings here are the same as up north, and are just as delicious. One of our all-time favorite drinks, the Café Miel is available and is absolutely boss. It’s basically a cinnamon and honey latte, and it never fails to impress! I will declare it my favorite beverage in Iowa City! In addition, recently we had an orange cranberry scone, per request of our 3 year old ironically, that was one of the best scones we’ve ever had. Props to the gals behind the counter who make them in the mornings! The gelato offerings is available and is absolutely boss. It’s basically a cinnamon and honey latte, and it never fails to impress! Another great addition to the local coffee scene down in Coralville. They also have a drive thru, which gives you no excuse not to go check this place out. And while you’re there try a Café Miel!

Stopped by at the new Capanna location for a perfectly steamed and pulled latte. It’s smaller than the main location in North Liberty, but still has nice seating areas plus a drive through for a quick coffee on the go. This will be my new go to for coffee when I’m in or around Coralville. The staff were friendly — today was their opening day and we really enjoyed our visit. There were also some baked goods available and a case of gelato to choose from — which we’ll have to do next time!
