Not sure how this place stays alive! There is nothing wrong with this Officemax. In fact, there is much right with it. Big, free parking lot. Wide aisles with plenty of merch Friendly staff Convenient location on Ponce in the Gables The problem? AMAZON.COM! I come here every now and then to pick up things or drop off some FedEx packages for work because it’s close. There are never more than a few people browsing the aisles. The checkout counters are always anxious for customers. The prices aren’t even horrible. But if you can afford to wait two days buy it cheaper on Amazon and get it shipped for free! And that’s killing businesses like Officemax and Staples(if they aren’t already dead). I try and come in to get something every now and then because it is nice to have local businesses providing service. I just hope they can survive or diversify enough to keep this big convenient store’s doors open.

I remember the days I used to enjoy going school supply shopping. I couldn’t wait for that classroom list to come and head to a store like Officemax to pick out the best set of markers, Crayons, scissors and glue I could find. I still go supply shopping(minus the school part) and this is the closest store to do it. Unfortunately, I almost always regret coming here. The good? The parking lot! In a neighborhood where parking can be hard to come by, it’s nice knowing that you’ll never be stuck driving around in circles until you can find a place to park. The bad? The service. From the very slow cashiers that would rather have a conversation with each other than pay attention to the customer standing right there, to the unhelpful staff walking around that’d rather see you struggle trying to carry an office chair to the register than offer to help. Also, I recently paid over $ 10 for a measly fax that just seems super overpriced. I know I’ll probably end up back here sooner rather than later when I need some more Sharpies or scissors, but wish I could get a little bit more excited about it like I used to! Sigh…

Looks like any other Officemax and there’s free parking, which boasts its rating from 2 to 3 stars. I came in because bf’s family just moved to the area and without a printer, we were in a bind since we needed a hard copy of the lease to change his sister’s driver’s license. I walked in and scanned the store, to see if they had a printing center. I saw it at the back of the store and when I explained to the lady manning the area that I needed to print a PDF that I had in my email, she quickly cut me off to say that they can’t do that. What? What do you do here, Officemax? She told me that I could go a few blocks over to FedEx Kinko’s to get my needs fulfilled. Officemax, do yourself a favor and get on par so that customers who come to your stores looking for a service are not turned away and forced to go elsewhere.

People here must not give a fuck about customers. The cashiers don’t look at you when you’re standing there waiting to be called out. They just look at you, keep talking to someone else, and then when they’re done with their conversation, they finally ask if you need help with a checkout. It’s never packed, and parking is always available, but I just hate crappy service like that.

Pretty decent store. Good selections and aisles are not crowded.
