Maybe we came a little later in the day, but there was almost no selection. Prices are high. It’s an odd spot, but cool inside. Quality is pretty good for the baked items, coffee wasn’t great, but it’s not too far off from being a truck stop, so…

This is my favorite place for doughnuts in town. They have a drive-thru and their doughnuts are big and just have the best doughy-like flavor. My favorites are the regular glazed and the Pershing’s(sp?)… Yum yum! I always do the drive-though, the interior isn’t a cushy, relaxing atmosphere like a Starbucks or Kaffe 101, however you can better see what is available.

I paid $ 5.50 for biscuits and gravy to receive bland pepperless and saltless gravy and a few pieces of sausage scattered throughout. I guess I should’ve made the mile trip down the road to The Bayway Market.

Fresh out of the oven! Great and friendly service! Glad we stopped by here on our way to Bandon, OR. Wished we bought more for the road! :D

The donuts here are delicious– IF you get there early enough in the morning when they still have some in stock. The staff are rude with an exception or two. No matter how good the donuts are at this location I will go out of my way to get them somewhere else because of the owners here. The way they treat employees is disgusting and I’ll take my business to people who deserve it.

I’ve been here three time. The baked cinnamon roll was good. The doughnut selection is random and small. The quality is fair and the prices are way too high. On more than one occasion the people behind the counter where gabbing endlessly with friends while I stood there patiently and waited. I’m not going back. I would rather drive across town for a decent doughnut.

Nice local find. The donuts are all pretty good. Freshly baked and a nice variety. The apple fritters are huge and quite delicious. Bought a dozen a few times for work. Beware, GPS will lead you astray. I used their address in google maps and Garmin GPS and both took me to the middle of nowhere about ½ mile down the road. Call for directions and keep an eye out on the way. It’s hard to miss if you’re looking.

Love this jewel close to home, Leona is precious. Great elephant ears of you’re craving something sweet you’ve got to swing Sugar Shack! Oh yea!

The service was very friendly and the bakery was busy. Best to go in the early morning before the variety is gone with these donuts. It’s expensive, but the donuts are from scratch and are HUGE. I wish they would make the scratch raised donut holes every day for sale, as some days they don’t make them. Nice place to stop on a rainy, cool morning.

The intoxicating aroma of freshly baked bread and donuts is the second thing I noticed when I visited the Sugar Shack Bakery in Coos Bay. The first thing, unfortunately, is the missed opportunity to create a storefront that reflects the freshness of their food. The apple fritter was delicious and enormous, and contained large pieces of apple within its perfectly fried doughy goodness. Many of the bakery offerings are super sized. The coffee was just ok. The bakery is well marked and easy to spot from the highway. Parking is easy and plentiful. The windows are full of cautionary signs– no smoking, a tattered open/closed sign, a giant drive-in now open sign hastily scrawled on a hunk of mat board, premises protected by video surveillance, and several other messages on hunks of cardboard. Only two small windows aren’t obstructed by signs. I was greeted at the entry door with a sign listing the bakery hours– printed with pink ink on copy paper with black ink edits, held up with no less than 8 chunks of scotch tape. I came for a donut, and was very happy with my apple fritter. The counter help was friendly and helpful. I do wish I had used the drive thru, because the interior was such a disappointment. I won’t list all of the things that they could do to make their place more inviting, but they could start with a thorough cleaning, remove equipment that isn’t working(the revolving case by the door and the weird machine that is under the booth by the restroom door), and display the beautiful bread somewhere other than on top of the first two tables. The restroom should also be as clean and fresh as the food, and they need to hang a mirror above the sink.
