Doesn’t look like much from the outside, except for some hanging plants. However, food was fantastic and prices reasonable. The owner had his kids working there and they are very polite and gave good service. We even got free poppers and desert. We came away completely stuffed and a little tipsy from the pitcher of margaritas and poppers. Nice atmosphere, generous meals, great food, reasonable price. We will definitely be back.

We were in Coos Bay for a short weekend trip and wanted a really good margarita, so we choose El Sol based off the reviews. First, we had a horrible time finding parking. This might have been our fault, it was dark after all. So we parked on the side street next to a church. We were immediately seated in which a younger man came with salsa and chips. He asked what we wanted to drink, at which point we said margaritas. He asked if we wanted it on the rocks or blended with or without salt. We told him. Two min later our waitress came out and asked us to clarify our drink orders. A few min later she came with our drinks and beans for our chips. We ordered our dinners(chicken fajitas and shrimp fajitas). We waited about 25 min for our dinner. The restaurant only had about four other tables. At one point while waiting we were asked if we wanted more chips, salsa, and beans. We said yes and the waitress took our items and refilled them. That was odd. I’d never had my dirty dishes taken to the back and refilled with food. It was fine with us, just weird. The sign on the restaurant advertised itself as «authentic Mexican food». When our food finally arrived it smelled divine. It was good foos, but definitely not Mexican. The chicken fajitas were cooked in a wine cream sauce as was the shrimp fajitas. I struggled with rating El Sol and really wished I could give it a 3.5 stars. The food was good, and although the service was slow the waitress was nice. The reason I gave a 3 was mostly because the margaritas were really sweet, and the food was not authentic Mexican. I don’t know of any mexican restaurants that cook chicken fajitas in a wine cream sauce.
