This experience was a disaster, after having booked 2 rooms more than 6 months ahead, I confirmed our reservation 5 months ahead and was assured by email that our rooms were secured and deposit was billed to my credit card. the day of the arrival, I called to say we would be checking in around 6 pm, and was told by the owner that his wife had taken ill and ALL the guests needed to be cancelled. I stopped by to pick up my deposit refund(after scrambling to find a hotel room during the busy season) and saw a group of people sitting on the porch. I asked them if they were staying at this B+B, and they said yes, that they also had booked(all the rooms) several months ahead. Neeless to say, I was quite upset that the owner had given away my rooms.

Cooperstown is our favorite travel destination, and the Cooperstown Bed and Breakfast plays a big role in why we love this storied, scenic historic lakefront village so much. John and Linda Smirk are truly special people, and it reflects in their architecturally stunning, but casual 1902 Victorian home, close to all of Main Street’s attractions(including the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum). Linda has to be the best baker on earth(and certainly one of the all-time great people) — the homemade cookies and other baked goods resonate in our taste buds long after our visit. The breakfast buffet is a tremendous way to start the day with its homemade scones, cinnamon buns, waffles, sausage, bacon, cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit and juices. We feel the Cooperstown Bed and Breakfast represents the best elements of staying at a bed and breakfast. It’s like going to your favorite relative’s warm and inviting home. John and Linda really make you feel at home, the rooms are welcoming and have personalities of their own, there’s a fabulous front porch, an upstairs outdoor porch, a charming living room with a television and reading materials, and, as mentioned, great breakfasts as well as baked goods for that afternoon or nighttime snack! What’s more, it’s kid-friendly and open year-round, which is nice, as Cooperstown has many wonderful year-round attractions — including the Candlelight Evening holiday celebration held in mid-December. Just writing this review makes us want to go to Cooperstown today for all its wholesome, small-town glory, and stay at the Cooperstown Bed and Breakfast. We can’t say enough good things about John and Linda and their special B&B.

We went to Cooperstown for the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. But since Cooperstown is pretty far from NYC(our next stop), we had to stay overnight. Cooperstown Bed and Breakfast is a beautiful place to stay at. My husband found the place for us online. It was my first time at a B and B and a wonderful experience. The house is adorable — early 1900’s, Victorian, and walking distance to Main Street. We got a pretty big room and bathroom for the night. The bed and blankets were so comfortable. John and Linda, the owners, are the cutest couple. They are extremely welcoming and helpful. They gave us great recommendations and are wonderful cooks! As we left Linda hugged us good bye and packed an assortment of homemade cookies, scones, and muffins for us to take on our road trip to NYC. Truly good people.
