Great prime rib. Shrimp cocktail and lobster tail were perfectly done. The place is HUGE… only 2 handicapped parking spaces — so parking was a bit of a walk. Highly recommend.

Food is usually very, very good, but not always consistent, but the biggest problem here is the décor, menu, service and atmosphere are severely dated. It really is a throwback to the seventies, this could be one of the very best in Cookeville, but this place desperately needs a makeover, and not just décor, down to the core! The style is very pretentious and fancy in a cheesy and artificial way. The food is very good when they’re on their game. The only place in the city to get Escargot and the steaks are very well done. Service depends on the waiter or waitress, some of the staff are among the best, some are uppity and poor. Once again, tremendous potential here, but not fulfilling very much of it. A-OK, but could be the best of the best.

Like a blast from the past. A wonderful dining experience déjà vu the 70’s. Stiff Johnnie Walkerr, lovely view, good food and pleasant service.

Stopped in on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. The décor is a bit dated but in a good way. It was a five star menu meets Tennessee southern. Escargo and scallops were great and the lamb was superb. Alcohol was a little high priced but still very relaxing. This place was like the main hall at the resort on the movie dirty dancing. A great date night for people who can appreciate fine dining old school.

AMAZING! My girlfriend and I went here on a Saturday night and after our meal, we couldn’t believe this place was not more busy. We ordered the prime rib, baked potato, sauteed onions, french onion soup, and salad. The food was amazing and the service was impeccable. My gf is in the food industry and a tough please but she was more then satisfied. HIGHLYRECOMENDED.

Nicks is one of the best places in the area. The food is good, the service is good and the location is great. In a town dominated by chain restaurants, Nicks is a welcome change with its family-owned personal touch. The views from the windows are good, overlooking the area to the east of town. Great place for large groups — we’ve recently had a high school reunion, bridal showers, holiday parties and weekly group dinners there. We are definitely fans of Nicks!

Yesterday, my friends and I held a birthday dinner at Nick’s. I wasn’t expecting much, and had been disappointed the first time I had chosen to eat here. However, the service was top-notch. A funny, professional waitress took great care of us, and had a great attitude although we were waiting on a few of our party to arrive. She was extremely thoughtful and really made our night special. I ordered the grilled salmon with cajun seasoning, a baked potato, and a caesar salad. Everything was excellent. The prices are a bit higher than what I wanted to pay, but the food did NOT disappoint. I recommend giving Nick’s a second chance.

Have had the opportunity to eat here several times over the years. Experience is always the same — the food is extremely average. Much better options in Cookeville worth considering.

The food tasted incredible. Unfortunately that’s the only good thing I can say. The service was severely lacking. We were there for a family function, a large group, and we were in a private room. The restaurant knew about our party for at least a month before we arrived, and they weren’t prepared for us. The food came out very sporadically. I ordered the Grouper & Shrimp, but was told they were out of Grouper. I asked if I could substitute Salmon for the Grouper and the waiter said yes. I made it clear that I still wanted the shrimp. I received the salmon, followed by my side item about 10 minutes later, and another 10 minutes later or so, asked about the shrimp. I was told that they were out of the Grouper & Shrimp. I confronted the waiter, and he offered to put in an order for a «shrimp treat» which he said had 4 – 5 shrimp. 15 minutes later, I got three shrimp, and then I was charged an extra $ 4.99 for it. I won’t be going back. Next time, maybe we’ll just hire the chef for a privately catered dinner.
