I used Izenberg’s for a Catered lunch two days in a row and they were AWESOME. Super accommodating and helpful. Great presentation and food was really good. Def would recommend them.

Really wanted to like this but ordered a grilled veggies wrap and it was not grilled, it was a salad in a wrap with no flavor. I ordered the dill mayo on slide to make it light but that also lacked flavor.(I love veggies as long as they are cooked, by the time I realized the mistake I was back at my office and starving. I tried to pick through it but ended up with junk food from our snack room.

Normally I would give a place a few chances prior to me reviewing them, if it’s just in my head at that. Today I decided I’d order via grubhub and save myself a trip to Weis to make myself a salad. I have managed and ran delis(14 years of experience in food service) so this really bothered me today when I received my food and I went for the taste test. I ordered Matzah Ball soup — $ 3.95 1 medium ball and a broth that looked a bit dark compared to the nice light color of homemade chicken stock/soup. The stock/soup tasted like dish water, there was an after taste to it that really stood out. Now in your typical matzah ball soup, you expect to see some celery, carrots and onions that was part of the mirepoix that is normally used while making stock, there was not a hint of any type of vegetable in the soup. The matzah ball itself was void of flavor and the texture was as if it had been sitting around in the pot for a month, it just fell apart like mush. Fried pickle slices. I have had these a few times from various places in the Conshohocken area. Izenberg’s slices were extremely thick, making the pickle too hot(temperature wise) to really enjoy. Thinly sliced would have been the best way to serve fried pickle slices. Caesar Salad — as an extra ordered grilled chicken +$ 2.00 or something. I gave them an extra star for the fact that they used all the green parts of the lettuce, but to be honest I enjoy the bottom parts too, the nice crispy white parts can be added in. There was some sort of cheese added on the salad, tasted like mozzarella. They put roasted red pepper pieces on the top as well. Parmesan cheese. Croutons that aren’t box bought. The whole head of lettuce(rather than just the green leafy parts) and a bit more chicken then what seemed to be half a chicken breast. This would make a much better salad then what I was delivered today. I understand that this area is suppose to be of a higher pay rate when it comes to the consumers in the area and they expect a bit more when it comes to their service but that’s no way to serve a Caesar Salad + grilled chicken. My coworkers asked me before I ate my lunch how I liked Izenberg’s, I won’t be suggesting it as a place we should order from. They need to step up their deli food game.

This review is for their catering service, not the restaurant itself. The Young ‘Un had a ‘milestone event’ right at the same time as a major project was due and some heavy travel. What’s a working Mom to do? Order! Thank goodness for the fabulous folks at Izenbergs! We ordered a party tray of Italian Hoagies with potato salad and cole slaw. The Izenbergs were wonderful to work with, very friendly, took care of everything for us including delivery on a Saturday morning. They thoughtfully brought plenty of paper napkins, serving pieces, utensils and a table cloth too. Nice! As for the food… well, truth be known, my family is from Old Italian South Philly. So, I was a teensy bit worried. NOT. The sandwiches passed my Old Italian South Philly Aunt test with flying colors. There were literally no leftovers, everyone had at least 2 sandwiches(and this was a big tray!). Not only that, but I believe I am now in charge of ‘getting the hoagies” at all family events. Thank goodness I know Izenbergs will be there for me! For catering, I would absolutely recommend them. They were professional, friendly, thorough, very responsive and the food was excellent. Thank you Julia & Fred!

Hey now! This place has to be putting out the best Jewish deli food in the area. I already loved this place but a couple weeks ago I asked them for a half corned beef, half pastrami on grilled rye with Swiss and Russian and it was quite an experience. Not exactly on the menu but they were happy to do it. I’m hoping they’ll start calling this The Joe. I thought of that sandwich this morning and mentioned it to a friend and she wanted one too(she wants to go back tomorrow and get three to split between the two of us). This time we added cole slaw which added a sweet crunch to the best sandwich I’ve ever had. The grilled crust is where all the flavors come together. I might dream about it tonight. Try it, you’ll like it. And please refer to it as the Joe special.

Went to Izenberg’s around noon thirty for a sandwich this afternoon. It’s now 4pm, and I’ve only managed to eat a few bites. And not just because I’m a slow eater. I ordered a pastrami special, with slaw and swiss on rye. I ordered at the counter, and it only took a few minutes to come out since they weren’t busy. I’ve had this place bookmarked forEVER, since I read Tom S.‘s first review about the reuben knish. So I was super disappointed when I got home and opened up my sandwich. Seriously, the pastrami is literally 50% fat. I was grossed out enough that I’ve been considering taking it back since I live so close. I did take a picture of the sandwich, and posted it here. So if it looks normal to you, let me know and call me crazy. I also ordered a regular knish and it was okay. The potato part was really good, but the outside is a little dry. The other reviews are all positive, and so it almost makes me want to give Izenberg’s one more time. I’m hoping I just went on a bad day, but it will probably be a while before I go back.
