I love this place. I have managed to get all of my family and friends hooked as well. the tortillas are made in there in house machine. always fresh. I order the super burrito or tacos. Super burrito comes with a grilled chicken option or shredded chicken, I love the grilled chicken. Tacos, you have to try the fish tacos, fish is crispy but not battered and comes with there signature sauce(no idea what it is but good) They also carry so much more, it is small and staffing can be short, but sooo worth being patient.

We love this family owned business. Every visit we are met with big smiles, friendly hello and fast professional service. This is not only true from the adults but their children as well. But that is only one of the reasons why we are repeat customers of Mercado del Sol. The other is the food. Our go to here is their chicken. They have wonderful rotisserie chicken and bbq chicken to eat there or to go. A whole chicken is only 9.95 and like surgeon’s they cut the chicken up and package to go in a matter of seconds. They also have pork ribs that are big and flavorful that come at half the price of other locations. Mercardo del Sol has a big selection of mexican food to eat there or to go as well. Everything is made fresh and they use high quality meats and fresh vegetables. Their California burrito is worth trying. This is a carne asada burrito with fries, guacamole, cheese and pico de gallo. We learned to love these in San Diego and were happy to see these in the Bay Area. As my rating suggest, Mercado del Sol is «Woohoo! As good as it gets»! Give them a try, you will not be disappointed.

Mercado del Sol catered my wedding as we were going for Mexican theme wedding and all I can say is, why are there no 10 stars? The service was phenomenal, the food was exactly as my grandma used to cook it. Most places take an extra 10% of food ordered. I can easily say they too 50% extra that even employees of the reception hall took food home. Could not have better caters at my wedding.

What a wonderful little place! Easy to miss as it is tucked in a strip mall and next to a plethora of other food establishments, but for what it lacks in presence it makes up for in food and personality. The food is reasonably priced and super delicious, they have whole rotisserie chickens! I Got the combinado– tamale, enchilada and taco and all three were bomb, as we’re the rice and beans. The people(I’m assuming they were the owners) were super personable and each visited our table to ask if everything was good, and insisted on bringing everything to us and not us coming to get it. Will come back even though it’s not near the locale we’re usually in.

The warm and attentive staff perfectly compliment the authentic food they serve. Every time I walk in I’m greeted with a smile. My mother and I often come here to celebrate taco Tuesday. We order a series of different tacos and wash it down with Mexican cola. My favorite taco is the asada, with its wonderfully spiced meat paired with onion and cilantro. Our guilty pleasure is the pork rinds, it should be yours as well.

It would easy to drive by this place and stop at a flashier neighbor. Don’t be fooled — this is where you want to eat. 1 — super nice. 2 — best flour tortillas. Really special. 3 — all food is consistently delicious. 4 — great rotisserie chicken and ribs. Quick and easy meal 5 — all the rest of the menu tastes like home. The home we wish we grew up in.

My favorite Mexican food place ever! The rotisserie chicken combo plate is my favorite. The portions are very good and food is not overly heavy feeling after eating. They make fresh tortillas on site which are very good. The ribs are good but I would say the carnitas are a lot better. So many good things to try, I will be back. The staff are very friendly and the place is fairly clean. A must for anyone looking for good Mexican food!

A family owned restaurant. They are all from Guadalajara and their dishes are interesting, a bit different form the typical Mexican food, reasonably priced and superb! The ribs are incredible, flavorful and nicely seasoned. The chicken ad shrimp dishes are wonderful and the family treats customers like family.

The carne asada I ordered was cooked perfectly and the tortillas were delicious. My dad got the ribs which were so tender they were falling off the bone. My family definitely enjoyed the meal. The owner was so polite and had great customer service especially when she went around talking to customers.

if you want genuine Mexican food, with friendly service this is the place to go. We go to expensive restaurants around the bay area, but honestly ABOVEALL this family run kitchen is always a nice experience for take out or a quick meal. I come here for the premade masa sold by the pound when i want to make some homemade tamales. my personal favorite are their baby back ribs. the flavor is like home cooked. Perfect for Pot Luck.

Mercado Del Sol has become one of out favorite places in Concord. The restaurant is super clean, well lit, with an open kitchen behind the counter. Order at the counter and sit down, your food is brought to you when it is ready. Over our many visits my favorite items are the carne asada or pesacado tacos. Their sopes are among the best in the area. However I always substitute whole beans as I find refried beans too salty. The enchiladas are not like the sauce and cheese drenched ones you get elsewhere, they are simple corn tortillas that have been soaked in a delicious red sauce, filled then folded in half and garnished with crumbly cheese and guacamole. Wonderful! You can also get heartier fare such as chicken and ribs as a dinner, or buy by the pound to take home. Friendly prompt service, and interesting menu keep us coming back again and again!

As I am writing this review, I feel like I had just cheated on my spouse. Just kidding… a) I am not a cheater and b) I don’t have a spouse. The reason why I said that is because I am a loyal fan of Tortilleria El Molino, just a block over from Mercado del Sol. Tortilleria El Molino has been my go-to Mexican place for years. I have introduced their delicious food to many of my friends. Check my review history here. Do you see reviews on any other Mexican restaurant in that immediate vicinity? For some reason, temptation got to me tonight and I decided to meet a couple friends for dinner at Mercado del Sol. We simultaneously arrived at 5:00pm. The restaurant wasn’t too busy, as there were only a few diners eating. The restaurant looked spacious and clean. There’s a large colorful menu hung above the register counter. The lone flat screen TV on the wall was playing the CONCACAF Gold Cup game between Trinidad & Tobago and Guatemala. The super friendly lady owner took our order. I got the rib and chicken plate, while my two friends ordered a combo plate(enchilada, tamale, and soft taco) and an enchilada plate respectively. We then randomly picked a table and sat down. The lady owner brought us complementary chips and salsas(three different kinds) soon after. Nice! It wasn’t long before our food arrived. My rib and chicken plate came with half a rotisserie chicken and a quarter rack of baby back ribs(also came with rice, beans, pico de gallo, and tortillas). The chicken was moist and flavorful. The seasoning used was just right. The ribs were decent, although a bit on the dry side. Overall, it was an enjoyable meal. My friends enjoyed their meals as well. My friend Sarah is a carnitas girl and she told me Mercado del Sol’s version was great. My other friend Chris told me her enchilada was delicious as well. The entire staff was very friendly. The lady boss checked on us a couple times during our meal. The entire meal(including three drinks) cost less than $ 40(Thanks Chris for dinner by the way!). It’s a great bargain in my opinion. Cheating, in this particular case, is good. I think I will continue until someone from Tortilleria El Molino drags me away! :-P

Hands down the best Mexican BBQ I’ve ever had. The bbq ribs are expertly cooked and has the perfect smoked ring inside. Extremely flavorful and no need for salsa. Add the spicy salsa to give an extra zing to it, but otherwise the ribs stand alone perfectly. Excellent bbq chicken as well! Forget Boston Market or any other chicken place. Come here intsead! It’s family owned with the husband preparing the food while the son and mother take care of the register. These are good people indeed, support them and you will go home satisfied, full and will eventually want to come back again and again!

They have the best rotisserie chicken ever. Even when I’m on my strictest diet, I can’t resist their chicken. It’s SO good. I rationalize that it’s protein, so it’s all good. We usually order food for pick up, which is what we would have at home for a week. We never get tired of their chicken, lamb, quesadillas and nachos. These are our usual orders. I come here almost every week, at least 2x a month. We even ordered a tray each(10 lbs) of Spanish rice, enchiladas, carnitas and lamb for my cousin’s birthday. It was a lot of good food, and everyone liked it. Service is good, too. They are very nice and friendly. Parking is ample and the location is great. Its right on Monument, which is less than 10mins away from where I live. I will go as far as saying this place has the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. Nothing beats their chicken! And lamb. And quesdillas. Seriously.

Pretty standard Mexican food(at least the food we tried). Not a lot of choice(make that none) for vegetarians. Fortunately, I’m not strict and my husband eats fish. Ordered the chicken soup for myself and the shrimp a la diablo for the spouse, bean and cheese burrito for my son, and rice for my daughter. Chicken soup was $ 10 but there was a lot of chicken in that soup. At least a quarter if not even a half. It was quite good, but I’ve definitely had better. My husband enjoyed his shrimp, but thought it was a little pricey($ 12) for the portion. Plus most of his plate was rice and refried beans. They don’t give a black bean option either(he doesn’t care for refried beans). The diablo sauce was tasty but a bit too oily. Our dishes came with homemade tortillas which were again good, but not the same caliber as Los Rancheros nearby. The good thing about the bean and cheese burrito(again refried beans) was that it was generously filled. The bad thing about the burrito was that it was generously filled. It was not solid and unmanageable for an 8 year old. I’m not a big fan of rice in burritos but this one could have used it to offset the runny beans and cheese. Mercado del Sol appears to be a little different from your average taqueria in that they offer baby back ribs and whole roast chicken. That may be a better bet if you are a carnie. The ribs did look good and were pretty popular with the takeout crowd.

Ribs! You gotta try the pork ribs! Mercado Del Sol and Tortilleria El Molino(across the street) are my GOTO’s for some good Mexican food in this area. I haven’t tried them all in Concord, but most of them taste like crap… Especially El Faro(Barfo)! Now, Mercado has got a big menu board displaying all the plates they can fix up. When I first came here I tried the Chicken and Rib Combo with beans and rice. The chicken was grilled and really flavorful. Juicy, not dry too! And the ribs… Oh boy, I almost always order ribs when I come here! That’s how much I dig it! I also tried the Chicken Flautas which was super delish as well. I saw the cook prep the whole thing. From picking up the half-chicken and chopping it up, and adding it to the flautas. Sooo, good. Add yourself some salsa and you’re golden. Another winner is the Carnitas Plate! The carnitas was just savory goodness with every tender bite. As with the salsa, squeeze some lime on top, and again you’re golden! Had the carne asada tacos that were pretty good, but not my all-time favorite. The corn tortillas were fresh and asada was decent. Service is ok, never had an issue. Dining is pretty small, nothing fancy. Prices are average, about $ 7.99−10.99 for a plate. Oh, and they have catering sizes for large parties. Now growing up in SoCal, from San Diego to Los Angeles. A lot of hole-in-the-wall Mexican joints are top-notch! Moving up here, it’s kinda hard to find, which baffles me. Mercado’s is just about spot on in comparison with many SoCal style Mexican food places. I can’t wait to try their fish tacos, maybe a torta, or even a quesadilla next time! Good stuff!
