I used to love coming to this place until I found a cockroach in my Wet Burrito!!! Disgusting!!!

Excellent food been going for 5 years. Sometimes the waitress is moody, but the cook makes up for it.

El Yahualica has a good selection of seafood entrees, so I came here on a Friday in observance of lent. Food: I ordered the Caldo de Camaron which is a shrimp soup that comes with a very tasty broth, fresh vegetables(potatoes, carrots, etc.) and tons of jumbo shrimp(shelled). They will serve it with cilantro, onion and lime to garnish and also a plate of corn tortillas. I opted for tostadas at no extra cost, I recommend eating this with tostadas, it’s a lot tastier in my opinion, I usually crush them up and throw them in my soup to add more of a crunchy texture. The soup itself was great, the broth was hearty, not too salty and very delicious. They gave me A LOT of shrimp, I asked the waiter for extra expecting to pay more, but wasn’t charged extra at all. I’d say my soup had about 14 shrimps, when it should of had about 8. My boyfriend ordered the shrimp burrito with everything, we’ll likely pass on that next time. The burrito itself came with a ton of beans, rice and veggies, but lacked shrimp and the part we disliked the most was the tortilla. It was super cold and tasted like it had been left uncovered in the fridge and had a bit of that old fridge taste/smell to it. No bueno. The bueno came in my dish and the fresh chips and salsa that are both made in house. Price: Overall, dinner for two was about $ 26, including two aguas frescas(horchata) and a mineral water. Not too shabby. Very affordable for seafood entrees. Service: Best part of the experience was the nice waitress that attended us, didn’t catch her name, but we communicated in spanish the entire time & she made me feel like I was back in my grandmas kitchen being feed. Definitely hospitable. The owner came over to ask us how everything was. They certainly value customer service, which isn’t usually the focus at most Mexican restaurants. Ambiance: Tiny, hole in the wall, a few large TV screens displaying sports and news. They’ll like be blasting Mexican music, which is the cherry on top. Very common! Overall: Okay food, good prices and great service.

It’s been years since I’ve written a review on Unilocal, but decided my experience last night deserved one. First off, I chose to order pock up from this place because I had a $ 10 gift certificate. When I arrived my food was ready but the order was wrong. They had given me 2 chicken tacos instead of the 2 chicken quesadillas that I ordered. So, I asked to order 2 chicken quesadillas and the cook started on my quesadillas. Once those were done I went to pay and when I gave the cashier my gift certificate she had the cook(I assume the owner) tell me that they no longer accept the certificates and that’s it been 6 months since they’ve taken them. Keep in mind, that I bought the certificate on 11/19/2015 and that it specifically says«does not expire» on the actual certificate. He still did not take the certificate. Anyhow, I paid for the(including the 2 tacos I DIDN’T order) and went home. Once I got home I look in the bag and realized that our burritos were not what we ordered(we ordered regular super and we got«wet» burritos). Overall, the food was okay. It’s not a place that I just«HAVE» to go to. Just a little advice for the owner it’s not okay to tell the customer that you won’t accept her non expired gift certificate and that I need to call to handle it.

This little spot was great. The service was fast and the place look clean. The quality of the food was not the best I’ve had, but I left happy and very full. I’d recommend their cheesy wet burrito.

We would not return to this restaurant. The first thing we noticed when we first walked in to the restaurant we were stared at by the patrons in the restaurant. They looked at us like who are you and what are you doing here? Two of us are not Hispanic but the other one is. Do we need to be hispanic to be able to eat here? No one greeted us so we just sat down at a table. One of the two ladies working in the front came over and she seemed nice, but her service was so so. She asked us if we wanted to order anything to drink. We asked for water and horchatas $ 1.50 when we first sat down and she only brought the small cups of horchatas. I thought, ok that’s fine they’re small. She also gave us complimentary chips and salsa. I then asked her if we get refills on the horchata and she said she’ll ask. She returned and said no. Found out when our bill came that next to the horchata said(refills) on it. Super Burrito with carne asada $ 7.50: Very little cheese on top and not much sauce on the plate or the burrito. The rice, beans and carne asada had a little flavor. Combo Fajitas $ 15.99: It looked yummy when it arrived at our table but didn’t have much flavor either and it was greasy. It consists of shrimp, chicken, beef, onions, bell peppers. Came with plenty of corn tortillas but the tortillas were too thick. Also came with a plate of rice, beans, lettuce and tomato. Chicken Enchilada Verde Plate $ 11.50: The enchiladas didn’t have much sauce and the chicken was very very dry with no flavor. It tasted like it was boiled in water to death. The plate came with three enchiladas, rice and beans. While we were eating, we felt like we were being watched by the other customers. I later asked for water from the other lady since the small cups of horchata that we received was not enough to quench our thirst. On top of that, I asked her for more salsa. She kind of smiled and nodded her head. Guess what!!! She didn’t bring us any water or the salsa. I know that California is in a drought right now but excuse me we’re in a restaurant establishment here. Shouldn’t we be allowed to get some water? The restaurant was not even crowded and while we were packing up our food to go, both of the ladies hurriedly came over to grab the used plates, utensils, etc from our table. It seemed like they wanted us to hurry and leave their restaurant. We didn’t have a good experience here and we definitely would not return.

The staff was friendly, but I got carne asada rather than the al pastor I ordered. It was a bit dry and gristly, as it usually is, which is why I would never order it. The carnitas are soft, stewed style rather than crisp. Wish I’d gotten the lengua that got lost in the ordering and the al pastor. Can’t claim about the price, though.

The enchiladas are the best! They taste just like enchiladas straight from Yahualica, authentic dishes. Its a small place, clean, location is kind of hidden, but I’m glad i found it! Will be back soon.. Recommend it!

Used a Certificate & Absolutely loved the food! We had two wet Burritos; Carne Asada & Chicken. @ 7.50 ea They were heavenly! Sweet and Savory, and with flavor unlike every other mexican restaurant. I was in the mood for a new fresh tasting type of burrito and I got just that from El Yahualica! they are very affordably priced and if you combine it with certificate its one hell of a deal for a GREAT meal! DEFINITELY coming back for more whenever I’m in Concord! Loved the Carne Asada more over the Chicken. **Our waitress was a little skeptical of us at first but she was wonderful for the most part and even added requested Avocados to my wet burrito even after they had already began making it.

My husband and I have been coming here for lunch with his mother for years. The food is the best casual Mexican you will find in the area, and there are lots of Mexican restaurants in this neighborhood. I always order the wet burrito and my husband loves the fajitas.

My boyfriend and I have been coming to this place for a little over 10 years now. The chicken wet burrito we get with no lettuce and add avocado is one of our favorites. Also the ceviche tostadas our the best as well as the camarines ala Diablo is so yummy to if you like spicy. Owner is awesome. They recently remodeled the place. We’ll continue to come here forever

EL Yahualica Tacos is in the rear end of the 2699 commercial building. eats: lengua & al pastor taco @1.85, charged 4.20, voodoo math, i guess –lengua very tender, al pastor crunchy –regular tacos, not mini, mostly meat, little veggie –fresh homemade tortilla chips given, salsa too take outs: –definitely one of top mex eats in concord –menu pricey, seems to be worth it.

If you would like a fast authentic Mexican meal then this is your restaurant. The location is nearby and somewhat hidden by a Mexican grocer. Service was fast, the waitress friendly. The menu was not in English, so we simply ordered what we like. My chicken enchiladas were basic but tasty. The refried beans were excellent. My husband ordered fajitas and we both had a beer. Total was $ 26. Restroom was very clean.

Perhaps you wondered too — Yahualica is a city in Mexico! And as it turns out, El Yahualica is the place to be in the city of Concord for some killer Mexican. Big words, I know. Any taqueria on Monument is drowning in heavy competition, so you gotta bring your A game. El Yahualica gets straight A’s from me! I am saddened to admit I lived around the corner from this small but lovely joint for over two years without popping in! Despite the Monument address, it is not visible from the main drag unless you are coming from the Galindo direction. Luckily my BF found it while taking a walk one night, and our taco nights will never be the same! My first visit was on Cinco de Mayo, they had a steady stream of customers but weren’t crowded. I was surprised such a small spot in a little strip mall was so pretty inside! Brightly colored walls and festive décor, but not in that ‘Party City threw up in here’ style that I’ve seen from other taquerias down the road. Very clean too, not even a crumb of tortilla chip on any table. Since it was a festive night, we pigged out a bit and ordered carnitas nachos, a carne asada quesadilla, and he ordered two carne asada tacos and I went with one chicken. Our order to go came out to $ 23 and change, not too shabby for such a delicious feast! We waited 7 – 8 minutes for our food, and as we waited the TV noise and soft background music were overwhelmed by a BLARING Mexican jam from the jukebox. It was hard not to giggle, it went from normal to nightclub just like that, and I didn’t even see anyone go choose a song! Whether that just happens from time to time, or the employees had it rigged to get the party started on Cinco de Mayo, remains to be seen. Back home, we feasted! My chicken taco, street style with two corn tortillas, packed with juicy and wonderfully flavorful chicken, and topped with a yummy onion/cilantro salsa, was just killer! Best taco I’ve had on Monument hands down! The steak in the quesadilla packed just as much flavor, grilled and marinated so expertly. There was way more steak than cheese! The nachos, while yummy, weren’t quite as stellar. Topped with sliced avocado instead of guac, no sour cream, not much cheese, more loaded with beans than anything. But the carnitas were very tasty. The chefs of El Yahualica are masters of meat! I’m so happy to have such a tasty place in walking distance from my apartment. Killer tacos only minutes away is a good and dangerous thing!

I wanted tacos, and tacos was what I got. I cannot believe, this restaurant has been down the street from my apartment for two years and I have failed to notice. What’s wrong with me? The place was empty except me, a couple at the counter, and the employees. They have a menu above the counter, with pictures of all the food items. I finally found the tacos and for a $ 1.85 each I had three with carne asada. Plus a beer, it came out to just under ten dollars. Not bad. I took my beer and sat at a corner table. About one minute later, the woman who took my order brought over a basket of chips, and a cup of salsa. The chips and salsa are both homemade, so of course they taste amazing. Literally a few minutes after that she brings my tacos. Three beautiful tacos, two tortillas each like they should be, filled with steak, cilantro and salsa. Words cannot describe the flavor that is packed into these tacos. Juice from the steak just pours out as you take a bite. You’ll end up licking the juice from your hands. The plate came with two radish slices, and a pickled jalapeño. I ate the radishes and about half of the jalapeño. I love me some spicy. Besides the food being amazing, the staff were great. Well I really only interacted with the woman taking my order, and a man who came in from outside and took my plate and beer for me. So I’m guessing he works there too. They have Mexican music playing and it’s just the perfect volume to actually enjoy it. The walls decorated with Mexican décor, you would think you were actually in Mexico. All this combined made for a great experience, and I cannot wait to come back. Possibly tomorrow haha.

They have a huge nacho that is very delicious! It is so big, my kids(ages 7 and 4) and I cannot finish the whole thing. The nacho is topped with all kinds of delicious toppings! I gave it 4 stars because I haven’t tried anything else, we usually just go there for the nacho. When I try something else, then that will be the deal breaker!

One of the best burritos I have EVER had– And I have had many! The quality of the ingredients is obvious; everything tastes fresh and is perfectly cooked. I am usually hesitant about sweet flavors in my Mexican cooking having grown up without it, but the wet sauce used is surprisingly amazing. Tangy and sweet with a mildly spicy bite. It definitely grew on me bite after bite. The location itself is a decent size, and even has a bar(not sure if they also have hard alcohol, however) The times I have been there staff has always been friendly and accomdating.
