This is a hidden jewel. I never anticipated Courthouse cafeteria to serve such good food. They have a special everyday apart from a change in soup. Other warm food options are a variety of sandwiches, burritos, Quesidila, burgers, hotdogs etc. However the main focus is the daily special. A colleague recommended the buttermilk chicken on wednesday and that was a bomb.4 pieces of chicken served with mac n cheese and collard greens. They sure figure being in the Court can be stressful and needs a large lunch. I went back another day and there was chicken tostada. That, was my finest lunch in a long time. It came in a big tostada, beans, rice, fresh veggies and the most lovely flavored chicken with mild spice. I thoroughly enjoyed it, need to figure out which day that was for lunch and go back. The staff is nice, patient and helpful. Except that it gives u a court cafeteria feeling the place fine. It is a very affordable working lunch and is filling and delicious. If u ever need to be here or around, drop by, its on the second floor. the thorough security check to the building will be worth it.

This location is on the 2nd floor of court house. Not a bad place to get breakfast or lunch while you are in the jury duty. Food is decent and staff are pretty kind.

I was having a bad enough week as it was when all of a sudden I was summoned to report to jury duty. oh yay… –_– to make matters worse. i didn’t think to take a lunch since I was told by friends that I would probably not be called to «serve». As lunch time came around. not wanting to move my car and lose my parking spot. i walked into the cafeteria on the 2nd floor. I ordered their buttermilk fried chicken. holy moly. as a pretty picky eater. I was so impressed with the food quality, taste, and service. My mood was immediately reversed. I actually went out of my way the following week to have lunch in the courthouse and I’d have to say. it was definitely worth it. :)

Why did it take Jury duty to deliver me to the absolutly most delicious split pea and ham soup on the face of the earth. Its woeth going thru a metal detector for. Not unlike Gordon Ramsay or Wolfgang Puck in airports delicious food and captured audience. with low expectations is an amazing combo. BRAVOCHEF

Delicious. Came here for traffic ticket stuff. Had the chili, was amazingly good, especially given the location. The décor is lacking but the food was good as was the service. If you’re here for hopefully not murder and have to take care of court stuff, drop by and get lunch.

Excellent food and the selection changes each day. Chef Brian has made a great change in this restaurant’s attitude and is super nice. All staff are friendly and appear to enjoy working. Much continued success.

I am partial because this business is in the building where I work, which is wildly convenient for myself and all other staff herein. It opened several months ago, and certainly surpasses the standard courthouse cafeteria in terms of selection and quality. Oh yeah– the building where I work happens to be the Compton courthouse, which I’m sure isn’t on the radar of most Unilocalers in terms of dining options. Be that as it may, if you are in the Compton area, Thyme is a good look. It still looks like a courthouse cafeteria– that’s what it is. However, the food is really good. Chef Brian offers global options– the specials range from Korean to Creole to Italian. .. and on it goes. If one is feeling less adventurous, the grill always delivers on the standards– BLTs, burgers(beef, veggie or turkey), fries, polish dogs, etc. They also don’t shy away from altering the options to fit what you want– if there’s chilli, cheese, and fries in the kitchen, hell yeah they’ll make you some chilli cheese fries! Want just a veggie patty covered in gravy? No problem, weirdo! Yesterday I tried«Hot Brown» for the first time. Rich deliciousness. The banana pudding is addictive. Sweet chicken chili, yum. Fish and chips, yes please. The list goes on. I really appreciate that Chef Brian isn’t afraid to veer off basic«turkey and mashed potatoes» that is common to cafeteria menus. He uses spices, wine, and all the good stuff that people like to eat. So, if you’re ever arraigned for a crime, on jury duty, petitioning for child support, or just in the Compton area looking for a good meal, try it out!
