First impression was not good. This was a Thursday evening 9 June at around 6PM. My family and I were not greeted by a host at the entrance and just sat ourselves(not really knowing what the protocol was). After seating ourselves, a waitress dropped some menus and rolled out… didn’t bother to ask any standard questions like, «Hi…welcome to the garage… can I get you something to drink?» After an abnormally long wait our actual server arrived. He seemed inconvenienced and unenthusiastic about waiting on a party of five that were hungry and thirsty and ready to spend the evening eating and drinking. It was a struggle to get service from him from the start to the finish. Again we were not greeted with the standard opening you would expect from the server…“Hello my name is”. As a matter of fact our party had to flag him down and ask his name so that we would not feel rude just shouting out to someone passing by. His name was DW he said. He only asked us for our drink order. We had to flag him down later to alert him that we wished to order appetizers. Appetizers arrived(duck wings and home made potato chips) and looked well presented, however we had to request plates and silverware. As drinks followed, DW, brought the two pitchers of beer but not the specialty beer that was ordered. Again we were not asked if everything was alright with the order and had to ask for the missing beer. The appetizers were better than expected. After the dinner order was placed we continued to have to flag down DW for pitcher refills. The food arrived(two rib eye plates, a steak fajita rap, fish and chips, and a salad) and our party found it to be nothing out of the ordinary. We asked DW for an extra ranch dressing twice and he brought it on the third request after it was no longer needed. At the completion of our meal a karaōke DJ started up and we decided to join in the fun. For the next four hours we continued to have to flag down DW to fill our pitchers. At no time did he ask if we enjoyed our entrees, needed anything else to eat, or could help us out further. If it wasn’t for the fact that my family was enjoying our own company and the karaōke DJ’s, we would have left and never looked back.

Firstly the live music band they had when I’d recently visited them was awesome. Really enjoyed my time there. Regarding the food and beer options. It was ok. Very limited food options if you are a vegetarian.

I wish I could give this review 4.5 stars. I was able to seat myself at the bar and was immediately greeted by a very friendly bartender. I ordered a craft beer. It arrived quickly and brain-freezing cold. The menu is a little overwhelming. I decided on the brisket sandwich. Holy cow. It came up fast and was very tasty. Impossible to pick up by hand, but knife and fork friendly. I will say the plates themselves were small for the large portions served. Looking around the bar now I see that seems to be the case for all the sandwich meals. On the good side of that, big portions. Extremely clean bar. I don’t hear the telltale sticky shoes back there. Everything is orderly and in its place. I was expecting a better décor given the cool neon sign outside. Not much in here but beer signs. Could be so much cooler. Overall a great dinner and excellent beer.

This is our 4th visit to the Garage Pub and Grill. The food and service is consistently excellent. Try the Brisket Burger and calamari. Jo and Cory were our awesome servers. Can’t wait to come back!!!

Typical pub fare with an expanded menu. Clean food. Not very imaginative but it is a bar and so it succeeds in that regard. Probably a good place to bring a group.

Had lunch earlier this week. Hadn’t been for probably a year. Had the tenderloin sandwich. Without exaggeration, it’s the best I’ve ever had. Tender, great pork taste, the breading was delicious and not greasy. Service was great… quick, attentive, but not intrusive or annoying. The tenderloin is worth the trip.

PS: this review could have easily been a 4 star or 5 star for the awesome firecracker shrimp wrap. So this review is not about the food which was pretty good. But for the kind of service you’ve come to expect from the places you dine. At lunch time we hardly have enough time to grab something eat and get back to work. And in here we had to wait about 20mins to be served while the place was pretty light on customers. Then our food was delayed. Waited about another 20 mins watching other people get served but us. Irritated to have wasted almost all of my lunch break I get up to ask for my food and realize that they didn’t know who served my table. On finding that out just got to realize that a part of my order was right there on the counter waiting to be picked up. On proding about whether they expect to keep their customers waiting I got«We are sorry, what else do you want me to do?» I believe a little humility in the realization of their own mistake would be have been a much appreciated gesture. Mistakes happen all the time and when you are hungry and late, a mistake can only make the experience worse. I acknowledge that mistakes happen but a downright response like that is not appreciated.

The Garage isn’t usually on the top of my list but that is changing. I think I stopped going there once they went 21+ because I can’t take my kids there. Now that I work downtown, I am able to share meals with grown-ups again. I’ve been twice in the past few weeks and have really been blown away by the service and the food. It seems like the owner is always there, actually working and visiting with patrons. That’s huge. The service is quick, efficient, friendly. They have a great menu and lots of beers on tap. I’ve ordered nachos both times and they were great. I’ll order something riskier the next time I visit. For a lunch that isn’t infested with high school kids and screaming babies, this place is great! Get you some!!!

Not terrible. Kinda weak beer selection… they had Bell’s Two Hearted Ale which I liked. I think the rest of the beer selection was the watery/pale/bland variety. So if you’re really into coors light and miller light, this is going to be great for you. Food is typical bar stuff, dropped off by freezer truck and deep fried in the«kicthen». There was some kind of trivia game during my visit. +1 star for friendly staff.

The best bar downtown. Great food(not just«bar food») and solid selection of beer and spirits. Attentive staff.

Don’t go! Sat at the bar with 0 other customers and was ignored by 2 bartenders. Plenty of other bars in downtown Columbus. Spend your money elsewhere.

Seriously. They have the best nachos ever. Order the garage nachos with out the chili meat, it will change your life. Garage is now my nacho bff. Also– always great live music when I am there and a good variety on tap!

My lady and I come here for lunch on a pretty regular basis. I really like their hamburgers as we usually get the Caso burger and Black and Blue Burger. Service has always been very good and the food is cooked just the way we like it!

I was visiting Columbus for work and thought I’d try this place for lunch based off of the recommendation of a coworker and the Unilocal reviews. Cute place with nice outdoor seating. I was in a party of 6 so we were sat inside. Our server was incredibly nice and I wish I knew his name to give him a shout out. After we ordered. It was about 30 minutes and we hadn’t received our food. We were on a time limit to get back to work but recognized that we were a larger party. So we asked our server if we could go ahead and pay ahead of time just so we would be able to leave right after finishing our food. He accommodated. Problem #1: I wanted to use the discount/coupon that comes from checking in on Unilocal and the manager complained to me about the number of those they receive and she’s tired of them… Sorry??? 20 minutes later. Still no food. We asked for it in to go boxes. Still no food. I know we were a party of 6 but 45 min wait for burgers was pushing it. I had to go find the manager and request our food. We were literally handed our bags as we stood next to the door. The food was good but not worth the experience.

Love this place. Great atmosphere to just hang out and people watch. I don’t song karaōke, but it is very entertaining to sit back and enjoy the show while having their hot wings(which are the best in town).

Twice in 4 days — definitely good food. The first time was a sandwich and the second time was a salad. I dont think I’ve ever eaten a salad as large as the dinner salad they served. Well worth the price paid and the beer selection is decent. What’s not to like?

Meh… it’s truly fine. The food is edible, if not particularly creative or exciting. For bar food — well, it’s about what one would expect. On a good day, certainly fits the bill; never-the-less, nothing special. Expect to fight for a table during the summer or if IU is on break, or during the usual ‘college weekends’…If you’re female and not 13, expect that will mean being called«Ma’am» at every turn. Frankly, while there’s nothing wrong with the food or service, it’s just not worth it most Thursdays — Saturdays. During the week, it’s welcome variety compared to local places serving pork tenderloin sammies.
