Last night my boyfriend and I went to meet a couple of our friends there for a birthday. We walked in behind 3 African American guys who had just stepped outside for a moment and were walking back in. The bouncer stopped them and said he needed to see their stamps or they had to pay a cover of $ 10. At first I thought they were maybe under 21 and that’s why they had to pay, however, the stamps mean you are over 21 and anyone younger has black X’s marked on their hands. The bouncer let them back in because they were all stamped. My boyfriend and I walked in(we are both white) and got our hands stamped without any mention of a cover. I am shocked to have witnessed such clear bigotry. We will never be returning to this establishment.

First time I have ever been to a bar where the bartenders aren’t allowed to accept drinks from patrons. I don’t know the owner of this bar, but I know he owns chop shop and little bar. That’s BS. Take care of your staff. Don’t spend money at this guys establishments.

I’ve been here twice and never really had a great time. If my friends ever recommend Big Bar, I will personally refuse to come back here. What irks me the most is a cover charge when I’m over 21. Like seriously??? It’s because I’m a guy that’s why or my thought at least. I’ve been to several bars at college towns and non college town in the Midwest and outside of Midwest and never had to be charge. Prices for drinks were reasonable and the only reason why I’m not giving it a 1 star. The atmosphere and the dance isn’t that great. With combination of that and creepy dudes, you’re going to have a bad time. I highly recommend going some where else.

Great place to go if you want to get served underage. Terrible place to go if you don’t want to be around wasted teenagers. Bar staff clearly have never worked at a bar before, and are very entitled. Suggestion: Go to one of the many bars around this, do not step foot in this«bar»

Stopped in for a quick drink with a friend. I usually don’t like this bar especially on the weekends! Went upstairs and noticed restaurant style seatij around the bar. The bartender was nice and informed us they now serve food at this location. Fried zucchini was great!

Crappy service. Crappy environment. Change your name to small crappy bar & grill. SKIP this place… other places way better.

Don’t know how or why I ended up here but I did one night. It. was something alright. Service was friendly but couldn’t hear myself think. Under different circumstances I may have enjoyed my self more.

Really friendly staff and bartenders. I like that you walk in and aren’t bombarded my the music and people. You can grab a drink and wait for your friends before you head up to a very loud and large dance floor. I like that there is a a balcony for people watching too. They charge everyone under 21 a $ 10 cover. Thank you.

My out-of-town friend and I were finally able to find in here a place to catch the Redskins game! Yay for Big Bar!(And which Redskins game, I don’t exactly remember – maybe it was against Miami, but we likely lost anyway.) Nice, *very* young(barely legal?) bartenders and servers. Deducting one star for the food.

I work at a local establishment and have ties to Big Bar and I have to say, their staff and owners are wonderful. Super nice guys and very willing to help you out. We had a celebrity bartending event here this past year and it was a lot of fun. The bartenders were super helpful and didn’t seem to mind that we were taking tips away from them [it was for United Way.] I can’t say what this bar is like on a weekend night [I avoid campus like the plague] but I can say that they just started making Panini style deli sandwiches for lunch [open at 11 and $ 5.95 a piece]. And they are DELICIOUS. Fries, coleslaw, cheese, and deliciousness. They are loaded with great stuff and bulging at the seems. I couldn’t even finish a half. Now that is a good price for lunch! I definitely recommend people check them out. I also like their typical bar-esque food. When we had our event I quite enjoyed their mozzerella sticks, and didn’t find that they were all that expensive. This place is locally owned, so support small business and stop on in! It’s a great place to grab a beer before a show at the Newport!

I wasn’t sure whether to call Big Bar a ‘dance club’ or ‘sports bar’ considering they are sporting 21, 55 flat screen TV’s, as well as a 30 foot jumbotron. All night long they’ll have ESPN running on the TV’s, but come after midnight, and everyone is drunkenly dancing on the dance floor by a DJ. Big Bar has 3 levels, with a bar on each, and a kitchen on the bottom 2. The upper level is usually open to everyone but has a VIP section. The middle is the main dancefloor. Beware, it will be sticky, and people may try to throw their beer on you from up top. Downstairs is usually empty, but on college gamedays, it does fill up fast. My personal thoughts on Big Bar: typical club music and obnoxious underage college kids drunk and grinding all over eachother. It’s nothing special, but hey, it’s a campus bar. If you want to catch the OSU football games with a good crowd and a huge screen, this could potentially be the place! However, they are owned by The Little Bar up High St, and I find that experience way more enjoyable. It’s typically an older crowd, with the 20-somethings mixed in. Best night is Tuesday with $ 1 you-call-it’s! Also, their $ 1 bombs on Saturday usually contain more alcohol then other places.
