I’ve got to join in with everyone else. Very good place to see a movie. They are a throwback to an earlier era… Hopefully, they will be the cockroach that survives when the malls close around their multiplexes.

M&Ms + Popcorn = Amazing! They have an extensive drink menu with over 40 beers on tap and the bartenders are really knowledgeable with recommendations. The staff is always so friendly, chill and helpful. I love that they do film festivals and show independent movies sometimes. What a gem!

We came to Studio 35 on a rainy Saturday afternoon. We came around 2:15 to see a 3PM movie. I’m not sure how early before a movie they usually open, but we were the first ones that came in. After we got there though, the line never stopped until the movie started. It was a bit early and they didn’t start serving food yet… but you could have soda, beer, or a cocktail. there were a couple of themed drinks for the movie too! The bartender/staff was a really nice guy — he kept offering people little samples of beers before they made a final decision, even when there was a short line of people waiting. I felt so bad for him though because he was clearly understaffed during the rush before the movie. He was the only one working — ringing up tickets and making/pouring drinks. We each had a few beers and I nursed mine nicely through the movie. I thought the prices for the popcorn was good. we don’t usually get snacks when we go to movies but we did here! The small popcorn was $ 3.50, medium $ 5, and large $ 6. Even though we didn’t have food, we sat in the back where there were small wooden tables. There was a lot of extra leg room there that was nice, and we could get up and use the restroom multiple times. I think this was ideal for us, because we weren’t heavily invested in the movie and didn’t mind leaving to get beers/use the restroom. Overall a super fun time for families, friends, and dates! Hopefully the staffing/scheduling issues can be fixed.

They play The Walking Dead for free. They have a great selection of draft beer. The atmosphere is top notch, both the décor vibe and staff. Love this place!

Steve P hit the nail on the head. Studio 35 is an awesome movie theater. Since the renovation, the area up front seems more spacious with a good atmosphere. Their tap list is expansive, and you’ll be able to find something you like. They are always having special events like beer tastings or old movies that you’ve forgotten about. Studio 35 is totally worth checking out to have a brew, go see a movie, or watch the Walking Dead.

Friendly neighborhood bar serving a large selection of craft beers, ciders, and custom cocktails. They have theater foods, and if you’re really hunger one can order a pizza, sub, or salad from neighboring take-out, Primo Pizza and they’ll walk it over and put it on your tab. There is a good mellow vibe from the eclectic crowd of regulars. Everyone is welcome.

Really fun and unique place. It isn’t haunted, so don’t be fooled by a haunted Ohio’s website. It’s usually pretty busy when I go(special events). The staff is friendly.

Great beer, great atmosphere. Glad this is where I chose to see the force awakens. I love that it’s local. Been going here off and on since I was a kid. Always feels like home.

This place is completely nostalgic and it’s a throwback to a by-gone era that is very much needed! I visited this place for the first time for a special screening of the movie The Gallows. The décor of the place is like something from The Rocky Horror Picture Show and it was PERFECT!!! The only and I do mean ONLY drawback is that the place is EXTREMELY small but that lends to a feeling of intimacy that is unparalleled. The movie was creepy in itself and the ambience of the theatre only added to that and they have a WONDERFUL snack and drink selection for such a small place. If you’re ever wanting to have a very intimate evening of cinema, especially with someone who can appreciate the nostalgic personality of that time, this is the place to go!

Really fun and unique place! Movie posters and pictures all over the walls. Come on in, sit anywhere and go up to the bar to order food(amazing calzones and pizza from a place down the street). They have a great beer selection, even pumpkin ale In the summer. But I love their fruit ciders! Sitting in a booth sipping fruit cider and their amazing popcorn can’t be beat. You can also look into the theatre from the bar area. A very cool place, I would definitely recommend it for a divey place to just hang out!

This may be one of my favorite nightlife spots in Columbus. And why wouldn’t it be? It feels like a bar in front, has a very wide selection of craft beers on tap, and there is a movie theatre! It’s definitely a movie theatre first– don’t get me wrong, but this place could just be a cool bar that shows movies, but the theatre screen is legit. I have never seen an actual movie here. They show popular television shows on the big screen, which I appreciate. They also do special event midnight movies frequently and a beer tasting with a movie on certain Sundays as well. I’d like to check all of that out very soon also, but when I go here, I have a great time. It’s a place I would take a out-of-town bar/movie theatre aficionado friend. So many reasons to like this place…

More than ten years ago, the last time I was here, this place would have been a dump if not for the good vibe Studio 35 has always had. Icky but cool. Today, I was shocked by what I found. When you first walk in, you run into the bar. I can honestly say that I don’t recall a cozier bar set up anywhere in Columbus. It’s that nice. It’s really very warm, tasteful, yet homey. And the guys working the bar are great, personal and attentive, pleasant even. I could definitely see myself spending time here just for the bar. The theatre itself is still the same old theatre I remember. A regular, 1980s run of the mill screen. Regular no frills theatre seats, not much bigger than your seat on a plane. Some of the seats in a row have a small counter in front of them, so that you may partake of whatever pizza/calzone/sub you ordered from the menu. It’s here that the only downside of Studio 35 comes into play. The food is not good. I had a chicken parm calzone. Overcooked, hard, dry, and not as hot as it should be. So unpleasant that I think I’ll stick to movie theatre staples if I order from the menu again — popcorn and nachos. Overall, however, this place is really quite nice, comfortable, and a good place to be if you have free time to kill. I will be back and soon.

YOUDON’T SEE people at the big movie houses hanging in the lobby having drinks and eating food who are not there to see a movie… … but you do at Studio 35. Old ‘cool, single screen neighborhood cinema with a great bar, friendly servers, comfortable seats with tables(in the movie), and delicious pizza, subs and appetizers from Primo Pizza down the street. First run movies. Yummy food. Strong, well-executed drinks. Lots of local brews. Truly my favorite movie theatre around.

Like the resident non-Newtonian fluid of Clintonville, the properties of Studio 35 refuse to conform to your expectations. Is it a movie theatre? yes. Is it a bar? yes. Is it a restaurant? …Sure. They have food. Is it an arcade? …Yeah, okay. They have games. Whatever you are thinking it is, it is so much more. This place is a Columbus treasure. We live within walking distance and there is no better entertainment than to stroll up to Studio 35 on a warm summer evening, enjoy a drink or four at the bar, have popcorn with M&Ms in it, and then take in a movie in a theatre that is of another era. Even when they are not playing anything I am interested in, it’s still a great neighborhood bar. It’s cozy without being cramped. The service is always top notch, and I really appreciate how they are so involved in their community. It is a PLEASURE to give my money to Studio 35, and I will continue to do so until I run out of money.

I really had no intention of seeing Avengers, The Age of Ultron and while the movie pretty much sucked, I found myself really liking this old yet cool movie theater /tavern. Now the fact that this place wasn’t razed to the ground and turned into a parking lot years ago gives credence to the idea that sometimes miracles do happen and I’m glad it’s still here. So that being said, I have to give kudos to Pat E. for reintroducing me to this place. Now the tavern part is comfortable in a friendly«Cheers» kind of way. The bartenders are all really nice and helpful when you are trying to decide which of their 40 brews you want to try. They’re quick to get you samples of any beer on tap so points for that. If you work up an appetite or you just bring one with you, they have pizza, subs and salads that they will order for you from Pizza Primo, which is a few doors down from them. Feel like eating or drinking while you watch the movie? Go ahead and take that pie or sub in with you. There’s a place for your food and drinks right in front of your seat. Now mind you, there aren’t any servers in the theater. This means 2 things, there’s no constant interruptions of people placing orders and it also means that if you want something, you need to get your butt out of your seat and get it yourself. It’s a movie tavern, not a restaurant and I’m OK with that. This place has a ton of 5 star reviews and you’ll understand why when you go there too.

Ok. This place has been, is & will always will be the Local talent ! I want to give you the details but that ruins it for those who haven’t checked it out. The art work, ambience, beers & killer local Italian food this place gives it patrons earns it 5 stars. Did I mention it’s a movie theater?

Small and locally owned theaters are here to stay. After being devastated the decades before by multiplex maniacs, local small venues have reached an equilibrium serving local communities with eclectic mix of films including locally made efforts, shorts, artistic, off-the-wall as well as blockbuster feature. Added bonus: being a bar with great drafts! This classic Clintonville showhouse revels in them all. And why would they all go the way of the dodo bird? After all, a place like this is where our heroine pops out with her girl-meets-boy in every cliché ridden chick flix, walking down the tree shaded street, never out into a honking, parking lot sea a glowed by fugly Taco Bell. People like seeing cinema in a place that is itself cinematic. Studio 35 is certainly that, snugged in a group of buildings centered in a residential area just north of the university district. It is a great place for art loving locals and students alike. Having a gorgeous bar with an extensive craft beer selection doesn’t hurt; where movie goers can have pored a impressive cider, IPA, stout, or lager from an ever changing menu, into a classy drafthouse glass, set it in an arm rest fitted for it, and binge on brew as well as film. It had been too long since I last set foot here. I first found it my initial year in town, when a roommate and I discovered(it was novel for us; refugees from BFE) the interactive delight of Rocky Horror. Loving the independent and geeky cool the place seemed then, it became a sort of getaway on matinée Sunday’s. Often with a spiral notebook and pen, I scribbled off-lined notes in the darkness, roots for reviews in the Lantern, slanted and cutting at the Hollywood hacks, an critical idiosyncrasy still held. Today it retains the geeky, historical, and deco coolness, though it has been refurbished it seems. The single room is spacey, has good sound, and nice picture. It is what you expect of an art deco influenced playhouse. Wall decked in wavy red velvet from top to bottom. The ads pre-movie are of local business which matches the community centrism of the place. The seating is a little crowded for a long legged person like me. My only compliant, and if you are long legged as well take note. Probably the only thing modern theaters have over it, with there loungey chairs. Check out their beer selection and movie schedule online. The parking is street, but to tell you the truth, it still better than driving the hour long bumper-car ride known as parking at a multiplex. In the fall they show tOSU football games live. That’s on my must do list. They say to get there early for that because I guess Ohio State Football is a big deal in Columbus or something.

This place is so much fun to come to — and this is coming from someone who didn’t even see a movie! The large bar serves as the Studio’s center piece and the surrounding walls are covered in truly awesome movie posters and art. Pinball machines and classic arcade games are scattered around as well. The cocktails have cool names like«KAHHHHN!» and«Jack Sparrow.» They have a ton of beer on tap and for decent prices too — they even have specials on Saturdays — woo hoo! My favorite part was the tub of popcorn topped with M&M’s — only $ 4! Fill me baby!

This is one of those neighborhood establishments that have been around for a while and it shows. Though it does have it’s charm of a classic theater! Food prices are great and they have a bar with mainly beer selections. The bathrooms were nicer than the place itself(which is a first for me I think). The cinema’s seats were comfortable but the sound in the place was crap. Only sound was from the front end speakers, no surround sound or rear speaker sound at all. Parking is a nightmare.

Neighborhood bar with a movie theatre inside. Pizza place next door will deliver. Tickets are less than $ 10 and you can get the giant popcorn AND add M&Ms for, like, $ 8. Special theme nights, Dude-a-thon, kids programming and Rocky Horror Picture Show screenings — so much awesome at Studio 35. So, right. Come a little early; parking is on-street only, and you may end up a few streets down, but the area is safe and so long as you’re quiet, the neighbors will be too. On the way in, check the chalkboard calendar for upcoming events. There are a couple dozen taps plus plenty of the hard stuff mixed however you like(OYO, oh yeah), so grab a drink menu and step off to the side. Tickets, drinks, snacks, and pizza are all ordered and paid for at the front counter. Another good reason to come early: the bar. Plenty of seating at the bar itself as well as perimeter tables, and they have happy hour specials for both drinks and pizza. If you’ve actually come to Studio 35 to see a movie, the screening room is behind the bar. Studio 35 is a first-run theatre, so those new and hot releases can be found here. Flat seating(with tables at the back rows), surround sound, stationary chairs — if you need stadium, hi-def, IMAX, and reclining seats — well, some corporate conglomerate has you covered on that. Here, you get 70s-style movie slides and intros, geeky commercials — a fun movie experience, short on trailers and filler and heavy on charm.

I was waiting for the right time to write a review of one of my top 3 places in Columbus, after all I have received the official Unilocal«DUCHESS» status for checking in here.(Please, no bowing necessary) Honestly, I think I have been coming here since before Unilocal was even a concept. I will try to make this review simple, yet specific and not repeat what others have said about this great neighborhood spot. DRINKS — yep big full service bar when you first walk inside. You can order cocktails, wine, coffee, coke, etc. But the main feature is THEBEER. It took sometime, but I converted to beer drinking after coming here, it would be a shame not to. I always find it aggravating when I finally choose one of their many rotating options, only to find that they«ran out». Dam. Back to the menu, which can be found on their FACEBOOK page. They are really good about letting you sample the beers. They offer 16 oz. and 24 oz. sizes. Happy hour 4 – 6 p.m. Mon — Fri. ½ off beer. My experience is they tend to be strict on the time. FOOD– Pizza, chicken wings, popcorn, subs, nachos are some of the offerings. Most items are from the pizza shop nearby. Wait time averages 30 minutes. I have seen people bring their own grub. Just saying. Not sure if it is allowed or not. MOVIETHEATER — great digital/dolby sound system. Sometimes, it feels like the sound is coming from just a few seats over. When there is less of a crowd, it can feel chilly inside the studio. Alcohol, or Hot coffee, always helps with heating things up. As there is only one screen, movies rotate pretty quick. So if something is showing you want to see THERE, don’t put it off. Oh, and WEDNESDAY is half price movie night. Two thumbs up. EVENTS — the studio always features something to see other than the movies on the big screen, whether it is a sporting event, political debate or awards show FREE. I often times go see OSU games here. Generally it is crowded during these times. For sure during any play-offs like this year!!! You should arrive at least 1.5 hours early to get a seat for major events. People often«save» multiple seats and that can be annoying if one of them is not for you. I have seen people sitting on floors, on stage steps, etc. to be there for THE game. Don’t mess with BUCKEYENATION. Then there is the Dude-a-thon(sells out fast), Rocky Horror picture show and beer tastings all being regular features. On several occasions I have come to watch the Oscars where they hand out score sheets and give prizes for the correctly picking out the winners. Just an overall good time. INGENERAL — When there is an expected big crowd for a paying event, there will be someone sitting in «the window booth», otherwise you go inside and pay at the bar for your movie. Only Good manners if you dump your trash in the receptacles by the entry and exit doors of the movie, and bring your glasses back to the bar. Kids are welcome with Adults. Cheers!
