My sister and I invited a close friend from high school to join us for dinner. I originally chose Mitchell’s Ocean Club at Easton however, they had no tables available and there was a waiting list to be seated. So, I decided upon Smith & Wollensky. This isn’t my first time to Smith & Wollensky. My last visit was not exactly memorable but due to time constraints and table availability we thought we’d give it another try. My last visit I had a NY strip that had a bit more gristle than what I find acceptable, so I decided upon the signature crab cake appetizer and two sides and dessert. Our waitress was very pleasant however, we had to ask for bread and butter and thank GOD we did, it took about an hour to receive our dinner(10:17pm). The side dishes were not spectacular and the cream spinach was not hot enough. I have dined at Mitchell’s Ocean Club numerous times and have never had a bad dining experience. Eating at Smith & Wollensky reminds me of eating at a chain restaurant like Red Lobster. The prices are quite high and there are far better dining choices. Anything that Cameron Mitchell has in his collection of restaurants will be excellent choice.

The service was really bad! It was bad the last time I was here also(3 weeks ago)! If it is this bad next time, I will never come back to this location.

Quite possibly the best steak house you will ever go to. The bone in ribeye is out of this world. The atmosphere is causal but classy. There is NO better service. The side dishes are delicious and large. To me what sets this place apart from other great steakhouses is the desert menu. Everything here is first class.

Had the steak sandwich for lunch. Should have had the burger. The steak, and I get it was a cheap piece of sirloin sliced on a burger bun that I removed because it overwhelmed the meat. Meat was very chewy and not great. Got onion rings that were chewy, not cooked well and were over battered. Nice place inside like all Smith Wollendky(old steak house feel) can’t say the food even for lunch was very good. When waiter came back with check the Mgr had comped the meal. That was fast response from a Unilocal review just posted. Thank you.

Egh. Not bad, definitely not great. 1 of our steaks was super dry, ordered medium well. 1 of our steaks was raw, ordered medium. For $ 55 a steak at a place known for steak preparation, I’d expect closer to edible steaks. Manager was nice enough to comp our steaks and give us gift cards. It’s was a grand gesture we are really grateful for. Odds are we won’t get steaks there again, but maybe aps this time a cocktail.

Made a reservation for my 32 birthday, informed them it was a birthday in my email. They greeted me with much enthusiasm and continued to seat us in a private wine room, which I thought was adorable and romantic but my boyfriend felt a little confined so we did end up moving. The gesture was appreciated however. The server, which I can’t remember his name, but we did end up sitting in the bar area in a booth Sunday night December 27th, was amazing. He was very polite and welcoming. I am a server in the Easton area at the Kona Grill anyways so I know how the server basics go, They did give me a neighborhood discount which was also greatly appreciated as well as a complimentary birthday desert. We had the shellfish bouquet, cajun marinated bone in ribeye, pear ginger martini and the triple chocolate cake. All was amazing! The ribeye melted in my mouth. They definitely made my night one to remember!

We dined here in Christmas evening. I attributed the long wait to the holiday rush at dinner. The food was excellent. The atmosphere was comfortable. The waiter was an unusual fella however he took care of us just fine and made our dining experience memorable in a very positive way.

My favorite place is declining fast The girl that does the seating looks like a Power Ranger that fell asleep under a sun lamp We ordered the Wedge, no scallions, the kid brought them out with scallions and wreaked of cigarette smoke We ordered chicken, it came out stuffed with something gooey and no roasted vegetables So sad, used to be my fav

So get this. I have a TERRIBLE experience here and leave a bad review on Unilocal.Within days I receive an email from the restaurant’s GM apologizing and he offers to send a gift card if I will give them another chance. I love a great restaurant and was anxious to try this one again, hoping that my first visit was a fluke. Well, I think I’ve found the source of the problem. It’s been over 3 months and I still haven’t received the promised gift card. Scratch this one off the list. There are too many other good one’s out there.

Three steaks came out perfectly cooked, but cold to the touch, the forth was perfectly cooked and hot, so the chef forgot about a an entrée and the just cooked up the forth steak while the others sat, and when sending them back for a little heat they now have that ¼ grey hard coating on a good filet. Asked for new home fries, to the surprise of the manager, as they sat the 10 minutes while our steaks were back in the kitchen, and the nicely caramelized home fries, perfect but now cold, were replaced with a hot, minimally crusted gelatinous plate of precooked potatoe. Manager gave us a small discount on the several hundred dollar check, but I all wanted a few good steaks for a family that was together for the first time in six months, what a dissapointment! Friday night but not a full house, pricey, and so lacking the consistency of any other S&W.

Stopped in Friday after work thinking it would be a good place(it used to be years ago– haven’t been for a while). Considered even treating myself to a steak– but when I ordered my wine, and shrimp appetizer(after waiting unusually long) I received shrimp, no wine & was half finished before getting silverware & napkin. The bartender apologized, offered free wine, didn’t charge for the appetizer… but at that point I just wanted out. To be honest it wasn’t awesome like I recall. Service or quality :( Somethings have changed. Don’t think I’ll be back — haven’t missed much apparently!

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Columbus. Unfortunately, last night’s meal was not memorable at all. I feel the quality of the meat and other offerings has really declined. I ordered the sirloin and it arrived very dry and also over cooked. Another guest at our table ordered the salmon and before it arrived at the table, you could smell it and it wasn’t very appetizing. It smelled very fishy and when my friend took a bite, it tasted very fishy as well. The restaurant did replace it with something else though when we told them the fish wasn’t good. It’s sad to see the quality at this place decline. It seems too that a lot of the friendly faces that we’ve come to appreciate(whether servers or managers) have left. I will say though that the beef bacon was still very good and also their bread. I’ve eaten at Mitchell’s Ocean Club and Hyde Park also within the last week and the food there was very delicious. I’ll give S&W another chance but it seems like things have changed there and it’s not as good as it used to be.

Looking for a special place to dine? Look no further than Easton Smith and Wollensky. It is a staple and rightfully so. They have probably the best service ever experienced. They have a designated gentleman that comes over to scrape the crumbs off your table. If you tell them it’s it’s a special occasion like an anniversary they will send complimentary champagne or dessert. Everytime I go it’s superb service and I spend anywhere from $ 125 – 145 on dinner so it’s expensive but the service and food make it worth it. To save money go at lunch they gave affordable specials. Valet parking is only $ 5.

My fiancée and I went to Smith and Wollensky for a night out this past week. It turned out ok, but nothing too special, especially for the price. Upon arriving, my fiancée and I were shown to a pretty private room. I loved this; there was no one else in the area and it ended up being quite a romantic location. We had a phenomenal waitress(unfortunately I forget her name, but she was awesome) who was amazing throughout the evening. To start, we ordered the«Charlie» seafood plate. It came out pretty quickly, and all of the seafood was fresh and delicious. We ended up having leftovers for later, which our waitress packed up(along with dipping sauces) amazingly. Seriously, she was great! Entrees: I had the salmon, my date had the filet/lobster tail. Fiancée loved the steak/filet, I enjoyed the salmon. We also ordered a side of the wild mushrooms, and they were delicious as well. Dessert? We got the(apologies if the name is incorrect) Chocolate banana split cake. This. Thing. Was. Awesome. I can’t recommend it enough; it was delicious! In the end: Entrees were great. The platter we got as an app felt a tad overpriced, but everything on it was tasty. I hate the fact that I ordered a diet coke as a drink and received a tiny bottle, and was charged again for a refill. I get the fact that it’s a fancy restaurant, but a fountain drink would have been preferred. As mentioned before, the meal itself was quite good. The problem is I paid more here than at Mitchell’s Ocean Club, which has proven itself as the standard in the area. We will probably try this location again, but until then, Ocean Club is still the top of the line for fine dining at Easton.

I went to a Smith & Wollensky in Las Vegas a few years ago and always wanted to go back to one but we don’t have them down where I live in SC. I was in Columbus on business and saw this place and could not believe it. Only problem was it was a Friday night and my girlfriend was in town with our newborn. While she does not cry or get bothered by noise we thought we would try and sit in the outside eating area to make things easier. I went in and enquired and the hostess said that would be fine and proceeded to take us outside to where the plan quickly changed as the waiter that was out there got upset and said«no more tables in my area!» He only had 2 tables there and we were hardly going to be difficult customers. We knew what we wanted and he would have got a nice tip for minimal work! Anyways we ended up being seated just inside and our new waiter was much better. He explained the menu although it was not needed. The food was excellent as expected! I forgot how good that Mac n cheese is there! For anyone that is a fan of excellent steaks and a great wine list I would always say see if there is a Smith & Wollensky’s around. Would have been 4 or 5 stars but for the waiter at the beginning to get an attitude right in front of us I thought was pretty poor especially when you are coming into a place to spend $ 50 on a steak…

Since my previous review of Smith & Wollensky, I’ve been fortunate enough to dine here on 2 other occasions. I still love the interior décor, I still love its location at Easton, and I still love the amazing service here. I also still love their truffled mac and cheese. However, having been to most of the other prime steakhouses in Columbus within the past year, I am no longer quite as impressed with Smith & Wollensky. Their steaks continue to be excellent… but Ruth Chris blows them out of the water. Since they’re in the same price range, I would have to pick Ruth Chris every time. While S&W’s 46oz bone-in porterhouse is absolutely amazing, it costs $ 105. I also have to say that S&W doesn’t even have the best steak at Easton. The best steak at Easton is the 16oz NY strip steak at the Ocean Club. I have have struggled with the value proposition of this restaurant. For example, their $ 22 jumbo shrimp cocktail comes with I believe, either 3 or 4 shrimps. As John D.‘s review states, they seem to be charging Beverly Hills prices despite being located in Columbus. They will also charge you $ 2.50 for a 11.2 oz bottle of coke. With no refill. Where do you even find a 11.2 oz bottle of coke? I still think that Smith & Wollensky is one of the better steakhouses in Columbus. But for those of you who care at all about your budget, I would advise you to look for your steak elsewhere.

This place reminded me why I avoid chain restaurants. I ordered the filet au poivre. My wife tried the scallops. My steak arrived undercooked and sat for another 5 minutes while I waited for a steak knife. I really couldn’t tell you what it tasted like because it was soooooo over peppered. I know«au poivre» means pepper but I honestly could have been eating chicken — even after scraping off as much as possible, I still couldn’t taste the steak at all. My wife’s scallops were obviously frozen and tough. The heavy cream sauce didn’t help either. Our server was very friendly and was trying his best but he had too many tables and was clearly overwhelmed. When you pay $ 60 for a steak you expect it to be fantastic. This place is hugely overpriced and well below average.

They had, no doubt, run out of Wollensky’s Signature Split-Pea Soup; obviously they opened a can of Campbell’s as a fall-back, not bothering to disguise their deception by adding a spice or two. Meh. The meat was fine had we been dining at one of Columbus’ fine steakhouse-alternatives which charge at about 70% these creatures charge; at these prices I’d have expected to be dining next to Kim Kardashian in Beverly Hills; the view would have been more riveting; the experience might have been worth it. But in Ohio, the management of S&W might better charge more consistent with the local market, rather than wringing out every last dollar from the wallets of their customers. There was no Kim Kardashian the evening we were there! But, hey, we tried to «let it go» and make the best of this autoenfatuated venue. The food was, maybe three-star quality, so we needed something else to amuse us(I repeat: no Kim!) As we happen to be scientists, we could not help but notice the awkwardness of the servers who kept bumping into one another, awkward and clumsy, tipsy… a study in Brownian Motion. It was good for a snicker or two, but not worth the inflated, excessive tab. Levity aside, this business was a study in chutzpah. Kim would be in her element. One final observation: Anyone besides myself critical of the fact that S&W, which would like you to believe they take pride in the excellence of their product, does NOT belong to the Columbus Better Business Bureau?

First time coming here with my girlfriend. Overall, the service was fantastic. Our waitress knew the entire menu and had it memorized, even the beer and wine menu, which I thought was amazing! We started with bread, split pea soup, and a crab cake appetizer. The bread was unique and deliciously soft and moist. The soup and crab cakes were filled with packs of flavor. We then ordered the 48oz Poterhouse with vegetables, macaroni and cheese, and whipped potatoes. My side of this crazy feast was delicious and cooked fine, with the exception of it being a bit overcooked. My girlfriends side was a bit of a different experience. Hers was very pink, while mine was a bit overcooked. It was so pink that it made it inedible. I understand that it’s a large steak, but when I’m paying good money for this steak, I want this steak to be prepared correctly and the way I ordered it. Mac n cheese, although unique, wasn’t something I enjoyed too much. The whipped potatoes were delicious. Overall, great experience, but again, at such a high end restaurant, there is very little leg room to mess up someones order, especially the entrée dish.
