New Realm Acupuncture Center

I have been going to New Realm over various time periods since 2004, and I don’t know what I would do without their help. I initially went for severe and persistent depression, after reading about some studies that showed the benefits of acupuncture for depression. To be honest, I was skeptical, although the research was compelling. It was so far outside of the things I knew about depression from Western medicine. But on the other hand, I had not been helped by Western medicine. I was surprised to find that acupuncture helped tremendously with the depression, and without any of the side effects I have experienced with antidepressants.
Gao and Jing are absolutely fantastic practitioners – kind, gentle, highly skilled, low-​key, and honest about what they can help with and what they recommend, and going to New Realm has always been an extremely pleasant experience. The needles never hurt at all. Occasionally one causes a bit of electrical stimulation (that’s the best way I can describe the feeling), and Gao adjusts it quickly to eliminate any discomfort.
Acupuncture has also helped me with head, neck, and shoulder pain that I get from time to time due to posture issues (too much hunching over the computer), sleep position (always on my stomach – the worst), and occasional injuries. In those situations, ONE visit takes care of the pain, which has been incredible. Very rarely, I injure my lower back, and in this situation too, by the time I walk out of the office, I am already feeling a dramatic improvement, and by the next day, the pain is gone. The other great thing about a visit to New Realm is that Jing does a mini-​massage of my shoulders, neck, and head, and sometimes does rubbing when I have had severe neck pain. She works absolute magic.
I have benefited so much from New Realm that I now go in periodically for «tune-​ups.» Each visit greatly improves any depression I might have been having and works miracles on the neck and head pain. I can’t say enough about the fantastic people at New Realm and how much I appreciate their help. I leave there feeling great every time.

I’ve been going to New Realm for over 4 years now. I had been battle migraines for years and acupuncture has been the only thing that has helped. Gao and Jing are both great to work with and are genuinely interested in helping their patients.

I chose this acupuncture clinic because I was in serious pain to the point of developing a vicodin addiction. My doctor suggested acupuncture but didn’t have a referral.
I called up a good friend in Astoria, NY who is in school for chinese medicine in the city. After scanning a few places she suggested Xuguang Gao based on his credentials and technique.
That said I felt pretty confident going since it was my first time. My confidence level sky rocketed when i got the most comprehensive investigation into my medical history ever. Gao was very patient and really gave a thorough lecture on the process and philosophy behind acupuncture. The office was clean and the staff was very friendly.
I left feeling relaxed and scheduled more sessions. My only problem is it is pretty pricy for me ($ 80 first session, $ 60 there after). They suggest going at least twice a week initially for the procedure to truly be effective. This is standard.
They take OSU prime care so that might help some locals out. I found it to be so effective I’d sell my soul for some more.
