Oh man first they gave us cold soup from lunch or something then I’m pretty sure whatever signature sandwich special I ordered made me sick for a few days. The staff seemed real uppity, maybe they were just busy. There are real long lines but empty tables it didn’t make any sense.

The sandwiches are awesome, although terrible for you and with potential of keeping you in the bathroom most of the following day. Biggest problem I have with this place is the wait. And I’m not talking about when it is busy. Often times they tell you they have a wait time even when there is plenty of open tables in plain sight. This is very frustrating. If they are understaffed then they need to either remove some tables or get more staff!

All I can say is this place is delicious. I couldn’t make a trip to Columbus without getting dinner from here. A whole sandwich is the size of your head… so unless you are really hungry you might want to go with a half. I have been here a couple of times before. The place was just how I remembered when I was there the other times. The memories of the times I have been there and also the food is soooooo good it puts it over the top!!!

I decided to get the Korean War pig sandwich. They have a couple best sellers I would be interested in trying. All in all solid sandwich and decent service. The prices are a little steep for what you get but not overwhelming. I am still partial to Bodega but will definitely come back.

The question you should ask yourself when you consider going to Melt is «Have I eaten in the past three days and do I think I would like to eat sometime in the next three?» Meaning that this is a LOT of food. The portions are gigantic and eating healthy here isn’t really an option. «Hey man, why give it four star if all you have to do is complain?» Simply put, the food is delicious. Yes, it’s greasy, and cheesy, and there is a ton of it, but it is actually extremely well prepared. The bread on every sandwich I have had was toasted well and had a wonderful crunch to it. The flavor combinations really just work well together. I also HIGHLY recommend a cup of the Buffalo Chicken Chowder. The service is friendly beyond reproach. You have to choose your timing wisely or you could be waiting over an hour to get a seat. So my recommendation… go…eat…take the rest home and eat again tomorrow. Save it for that special reward where you really don’t care how many calories you are taking in and then hop back on your diet.

This is a good spot for group gatherings and dinner before hitting short north night life on a weekend night. However, a call ahead reservation is highly recommended on Friday and Saturday nights as the line gets really busy snd long to be seated, I’ve seen wait time up to an hour. The food is good and from what I’ve experienced is served fresh and hot for the most part. Sometimes you can tell that it’s been sitting for awhile to be picked up by your server however nothing to fuss about. This is a very busy place. The idea of sticking a lasagna between two huge thick slices of bread does not really amuse me(call me closed minded) but it was not good at all. It felt like I was eating a cylinder block. I tried other items such as the Clevelander, the philly steak, Parma, or just simply the Kindergarten believe it or not(cheese only) and they were all ok. I think you should teally stick with the basics ’cause the exotic flavors, no matter how appealing they may sound, might not always work for your taste. The Melt is worth a try. It might or might not be your thing but it’s definitely worth giving it shot.

You want a grilled cheese? Don’t come here. You want a HUGEEGRILLEDCHEESE come here! Each grilled cheese is sorted by the kind of protein or lack of protein they have. There is a huge variety to choose from. My sister and me split the korean war pig and crispy pork belly bacon salad. The war pig was delicious, MELT in your mouth. The salad also was a hit. The dressing literally tasted like a salty bacon grease(that doesn’t sound the most appetizing but trust me, it was delicious). The pork belly on both the sandwich and salad was a nice addition. This place is a steal too. We both paid around $ 15 and I brought part of my sandwich home. I also got a beer. Man vs. Food also has gone here and there is a $ 30 grilled cheese challenge you can do.

If anyone can finish an entire sandwich at Melt, I would like to meet them and give them a high five. Biggest grilled cheese OFMYLIFE. I sat at the bar for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and had the Mighty Macaroni. I asked for a side of sriracha ranch for both my fries and the sandwich. I clearly wasn’t counting calories that day so why the heck not? This place is a bit touristy and is a carb lovers dream, but I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing. I’m glad to have checked Melt off my bucket list and will definitely be back should I ever find myself in Columbus again. Next time, I’d definitely check out their beer list. As far as sandwiches go, I’d love to try the Korean War Pig and the Wet Hot Buffalo Chicken.

Melt was great we loved it, please bring one to Detroit, way better than Tom+Chee. The menu at Melt has tons of choices all different types of cheese sandwiches, burgers great Mac and cheese bites, and more. And all sandwiches you can make veggie with different types of meat substitutes. Our server was very friendly and helpful with the menu. It had a great vibe that was very funky and laid back. Lots of nice beer choices. This place is great and your lucky if Melt is in your town. We need one in Metro Detroit.
