I was in a very loud band a few years back and suddenly was in the market for high quality earplugs. I wanted plugs that would still allow plenty of the music and tone qualities through but which would attenuate the overall volume and filter out some of the high frequencies. I forget how i found out about Luebbe, but i called them and made an appointment to see about getting a pair of the custom molded musician ear plugs. Mrs. Luebbe herself was a very energetic middle aged woman who turned out to be something of a card. She, for instance, referred to her practice of informing her customers about caring for their ears as the process of «luebbe-cating» them. She cleaned out my ears with one of those water filled syringes and i was amazed at the brownish cylinder of gunk she brought out. Then she filled my ears with a plastic goo that eventually solidified into the mold that would produce my custom ear protection. The whole process was painless and carried out in light and amusing fashion by Mrs. Luebbe. I returned to the office maybe 10 days later to pick up the finished product, which came complete with –9 and –15 db removable attenuators that clicked into the outside of the little devices. I used them at the next band practice and found them to do the trick about as well as i had hoped for. They were around $ 300 all told. I had a very positive and even fun experience at Luebbe and would recommend anybody with hearing-related concerns pay them a visit.
