I was interested to see how this Buckeye Donuts compared to the campus store. There was completely no comparison. First there is the menu. It only has donuts and coffee. Then there is the atmosphere. Absolutely no character to speak of. There are a bunch of old rednecks there instead. It’s a shame these places share a name. Stick to the one on campus. There’s no need to bother here.

Donuts are very good. Service is always semi friendly. It could defiantly use some interior updates but it is a donut shop after all. Overall, Buckeye Donuts is a nice place to stop and grab a quick coffee and some tasty morning snacks.

I visit donut shops in every city I travel to. I love this place. Soft, fresh donuts that are light and not overly sweet. No fancy pancy donuts here! Just the classics done right! The woman at the counter knew I was visiting from another city and she helped us pick out a great selection. Very nice!

I thought these donuts were good, the spot is right next to my job. the selection was nice and there were a ton of different flavors available. I had a cup of coffee as well and it was just okay. I don’t get the 5 star reviews but maybe it’s a local thing. i’d give it another go though

The best doughnuts in the city! The cake doughnuts are incredible! They keep moist for a few days also. Quick, hometown service!

THE. BEST. DOUGHNUTS. The maple bacon was sublime, so moist, airy, light, fluffly heaven. And I usually don’t like cake doughnuts. The buckeye donughnut could change though. The peanut butter is not sweetened at all, and if it were a real buckeye flavor, It would taste more like a true buckeye. Still one of the best yeast based doughnuts I’ve ever had though! I ain’t mad!

I’m usually only hitting up Buckeye Donuts late night. If I’ve been to the one on campus, I don’t remember it. I almost always go to the one on S High St. The place is a dive. It’s not particularly clean, but the lady working is usually always friendly. The donuts are tasty, and the selection is usually pretty good. However, they’re ALWAYS out of chocolate bismarks. Bummer.

The donuts here are delicious. I have not actually been to the shop as the donuts were always brought in by someone but they are very tasty and they have quite a selection.

Moving here from the southwest, I was surprised to find a paucity of doughnut shops in Columbus(there seems to be one on every corner in Texas and Oklahoma) but found Buckeye Donut right away. While not an expert on the genre(for that, read CMH Gourmand in the blogosphere) I do like my doughnuts. This place is convenient, the doughnuts are top notch and the service is crazy nice. I am a sucker for crullers. I simply love them. With chocolate icing. If they do not have the chocolate ones, they will take the plain ones into the back and glaze them with chocolate for me. How cool is that? The blueberry doughnuts are as good as they get. Dough is solid and tasty. Blueberries are real. The outside is lightly crusted. Perfect. All I have had are good to great. And, the atmosphere is like something from the late 50’s. If you need a doughnut fix, this is the place.

I wanted to write this review after I had been to the Buckeye Donuts on campus because a lot of the reviews seem to compare the two. I don’t understand how these places share the same name honestly. They’re two completely different places, with two different menus and two completely different atmospheres. This Buckeye Donuts is exactly what I expect a donut place to be. It’s quiet, they have donuts for cheap, the service is decent and they leave you alone. That’s all I want really. If you want to talk about your donuts, go to the one on campus, if you want to reflect deeply on your donut, go to the one on S. High.

I will make this short as possible. We had an event on April 12, 2014. We called a day ahead to order 3 dozen donuts and 2 gallons of coffee to take to our event. The person who took our order said we were all set and it would be ready at 6:15AM on Saturday. We call around 5:45AM to ask if they could take payment over the phone, as we were having a volunteer pick it up. The lady who answered said they cannot take payment over the phone, did not know what the total would be and had no idea about the order. Okay, that sucks, but she said they could get it ready still and it would be ready by 6:15. Cool, no problem! At 6:30AM the volunteer arrived to have none of the order ready. They were able to throw donuts in the box, but the coffee is another story. It was not ready. Alright, two gallons of coffee take about 10 minutes to brew. Shouldn’t be too much of a problem, at least it will be hot! Time ticks by and ticks by. I get a call at 7AM from the volunteer staying the coffee still was not ready. They did not have any thermos boxes to put it in. Excuse me? Was this not something that could have been discovered an hour earlier when we called in to confirm the order? Or a half hour earlier when she went in to get the goods? Or even 15 minutes before that when it was suppose to be ready? After alerted about this issue, I immediately called Starbucks on Front St. They said the coffee would be ready in 10 minutes and we could go pick it up. Sure enough, it was and the ladies working there were very kind and delightful. After our event was over, I called Buckeye Donuts to ask what the issue was. They told me the same thing as they told the volunteer. There were no thermoses for the coffee. The lady told me she got in a 6AM and was someone different than I spoke to at 5:45 am. The lady at 5:45 am must have been confused and they should have known they were out. Well, I guess so, but why was I not alerted about this at 6AM when the«knowledgeable» person got in to work or why did our volunteer wait around for over 30 minutes for something that just wasn’t going to happen? After this whole confusing situation took place, they still charged us full price for the donuts(when they were suppose to be part of a discounted package deal with the coffee) and couldn’t even genuinely apologize for this mistake. All in all, this was a terrible experience and not something you want to go through the morning of your event. When you place an order ahead of time and call to confirm it the morning of, you have a certain level of trust and confidence that it will be taken care of. This will be the last time we ever visit this establishment or even think of using them for an event again.

Old school vibe, which fits its south-end location. I had a donut at 3am, and the lady working the counter told me mine was fresh made. I had a cream filled long john and it was delicious!

I was looking for a donut cake for my mother’s birthday and so I called around to all of the donut places close to us. I wasn’t able to find a place that would do it until I called Buckeye Donuts. It wasn’t something that was on their menu but the owner said that he would do it for me. It ended up turning out great! I was so thankful that the owner went out of his way to make this happen for me. I will definitely be going back to this location in the future!

Just stood at the front counter for 10 minutes looking at donuts with staff folding boxes and making eye contact but not willing to serve my self and my wife. Looked around and noticed that she and I were the only people of color in the place. I have never had this problem at the high street location. Left without buying anything and won’t return again.

Update: Im not going to buy stale Donuts from this place anymore. There are too many other places putting out quality product to settle for these sub-par(and over priced) Donuts.

This place was nice. For a place that specializes in donuts, they’ve definitely surpassed Krispy Kream. They had about every flavor and combination I could possibly think of for a donut, and the donuts themselves were delicious. The location was a bit bleak though and lacking friendliness. I wasn’t greeted when I entered, and nobody seemed too happy with their job, but I guess they are working at a donut shop. But still… it seemed a bit off. I definitely think I might return in the future if I want a donut, but maybe not to this location.

Probably the best donut place we have found so far in Columbus! We love that we are able to walk here from our house, especially in the Summer Mornings. Place is simple, has a old diner feel to it. The place has a bar area where you can sit and drink your coffee and have your donut. They have a Buckeye Donut that is heaven on earth(There is a picture on here of it). It’s easy to find, right off of high street and everyone is always friendly when we go in there. It’s a place we tend to gravitate towards when we have family staying over at our house and we want to provide some breakfast items! They also do special orders. They over heard me talking to my husband about a donut I used to get when I was little. They told me next time I come in to tell them and they will make it for me even though it’s not on the racks.

Having gone to the campus location multiple times, I thought I’d try this one. That was a mistake. First off be aware they don’t have nearly the menu their sister has. It’s pretty much just donuts, coffee, hot chocolate. and juice. Well, the coffee was probably the worst I’ve ever tasted. Possibly because it was half cream, that the insane woman was dumping in my cup while asking if I wanted it. Um, yes? Do I have an choice? Then she didn’t even fill up the 8 ounce cup. And it was so bad, that I could not even finish it. The donut was pretty good, but then again you have to be like skilled to screw up a chocolate crème filled donut. It just wasn’t top notch(though I will admit, my standards are high having grown up on Lindsey’s: ) So basically, just don’t. I highly recommend their campus location, but this is just to sketch for me.

Classic donuts, classic flavors, and they never, ever, ever close. Just remember that if you show up between ~9pm and 2am, they will probably be running out of the more popular selections and specialty donuts. Personally, I’m a huge fan of the custard filled powdered donut and their apple fritters, but your mileage may vary.

With high hopes I stopped at Buckeye Donuts. Staff was nice, shop was cool, a few older men spending their retirement at the counter. Got a dozen fancy/mixed for $ 13.95. Not a bad price. Too bad all the donuts seemed 12 hours old. Not one of them had any crispness. They could probably improve all the donuts by covering each of them in the peanut butter cream you’ll find in the buckeye donut. The cake donuts were each inedible, even the glazed coated peanut one. They were all hard and dry. The long johns were limp and underfilled. Apple fritters were pretty good, but would have been better fresh. Again, all donuts suffered because they didn’t taste fresh. At 10Am you think they’d have at least been the second batch for the day, but I have had many donuts and am sure they were not remotely fresh out the oven. I would say there are many places, including Giant Eagle, I would go to before getting a Buckeye Donut again.
