Average Joe’s Pub & Grill

Sad sad sad. I have been coming here for years. Literally my buddy I and came here 3 days a week at least for 4 years. Then the last 2 and a half years I faded coming here. Recently they started .20 wings on Mondays. During NFL season! Desperation at its finest. The last 3 times have been just awful. Can’t say it’s the service. Not great not bad. But 30 plus minutes for first sides and then at 40 minutes we canceled the wings. I’d say monkeys in the kitchen but monkeys could makes wings in less than 40 minutes. Good actually tastes good but when it’s hardly busy with ok service with long waits for food I can’t say I’ve been more disappointed in this place. Management obviously doesn’t give an f or it would be better and it hasn’t. Too bad. Hopefully for the servers it doesn’t go under but who knows.

At the bar, the want to be blonde played more attention to the locals than anybody else. Being from out of town I didn’t find that very exceptable. I’m a world wide traveler and use Facebook, GPS and Unilocal to find my places to dine. Maybe these people should be brought up to speed on social media.

DONT COME HERE FOR A OSU GAME! If you enjoy watching the game you really should not come to watch it here. They play the same three OSU songs after every touchdown and cut the feed from the game in order to do so. Then they blare it during half time. We wondered why it was so unpopulated on a game night and now we know. The food also took forever to be done. The only saving grace was our very upbeat waitress and the fast service at the bar.

I know they aren’t known for this, but I experienced the worst margarita that could ever be made. Very watered down, and it tasted similar to a Long Island — not what I was expecting. I couldn’t even drink it. So I ordered a beer instead. I also ordered cheese fries, DO NOT ORDER THESE. It’s spicy nacho cheese, and it’s orange.

Went here on a Friday night and received notably poor service. It was late night and no one was having dinner so I find this a little alarming. First off, our waitress forgot 2 of 5 drink orders. Then, when one of us placed our drink order for a second time after watching everyone else enjoy theirs for 10 minutes, she completely failed to acknowledge her error or even realize that there was still another person whose drink order she forgot to bring. Eventually, I had to get up and get my drink at the bar, which I would normally hate to do and when I asked for another beer she again did not acknowledge or apologize for the fact that I had to get the first one myself. Perhaps we went on an off night, though, and I’d be willing to give it another chance.

Higher prices than surrounding bars. Paid $ 7.25 for red bull & well vodka single. Yikes.
Food was exactly as advertised: average.

Good service and pizza. We rented the party area and had a good time. Somewhat crowded though.

Large, spacious bar. I think the waitress said it was $ 1 off domestic drafts during happy hour but it wasn’t really clear. They had a pretty good selection of beers on tap. Tried a Columbus Brewing Company Bodhi for $ 6.50.

Average Joe’s is a great neighborhood bar — it’s very unpretentious and very causal. The service is always good and their menu is a typical bar-​food menu — heavy on burgers, sandwiches and wings — although they do have a selection of salads and healthier fare. I don’t usually go to a bar looking for a salad or healthy fare but have had friends who ordered a variety of salads and wraps.
They have a TON of TVs — mostly tuned to various sporting events and the noise level is a little load — but — hey — this is a bar.
I’m usually here on the average of about once a week and have always found the service to be very good. The food is good — not great — but is above average as bar-​food goes. Like I said — this is a bar — don’t come in looking for a gourmet experience or anything. Good quality bar-​food /​good service and relatively inexpensive prices.

A small group of us went here on a Saturday night around 10:30pm. The good and bad news is that it wasn’t busy, depending on what you’re looking for in a bar on a Saturday night. There were a handful of groups of people in there. We stayed until 1:30am and it remained pretty consistent.
The good news is that we didn’t have to wait for drinks, the pool table was open when we came in so we played a couple of games, and the drinks were reasonably priced.
They have a small outdoor patio which is nice for nights like last night.
I would recommend this place if you’re looking for a neighborhood bar where you can get a table, has TVs for watching the game, and I assume they have a good happy hour.
We did not eat here, so I can’t comment on the food.

This place is a standard pub type place, comparable to a BW3’s. I enjoy it because there is never live music, good beer specials every month, and decent food.
The location also has a patio which is nice for summer evenings.

The food is great. the service.not so much.
My husband and I do love the food here but the service is horrible! We went in today for lunch. When we walked in we noticed that they were not busy so figured this would be a good service day. The two waitresses on duty ignored us, yet served a table that appeared to be friends with them, that came in after. This seems to be a theme there with the horrible service, which is a shame because we do love the food. There is one great waitress there but she didn’t appear to be working today. We left after being ignored for at least 10 minutes. There were only a couple of people at the bar and 2 tables there besides us. We left and went to TGI Fridays, where we received excellent service. If they could only fix the service, this place would be awesome.

Walked in here hoping to find a new watering hole in this neck of the woods. This place is a sausage fest! Looking for the next ex Mrs Jones? She is here trolling. Waited 10 minutes before a waitress came over. Waited another 10 minutes and the booked out. Ridiculous.

Service/​attentiveness — eh, but that chicken Caesar wrap alone spoke for itself. Best one I’ve ever had by far.

This place is almost always very loud and very busy with slow service but if you’re looking for some great wings and aren’t in a hurry this is a good place to go. My girlfriend and I both love the wings here, they are huge and meaty and the hot sauce is oh so-​perfect. I’d recommend coming here on a week night if you don’t like the crowds and a LOT of noise. The place is very nice, clean and looks nearly new so it’s sort of the anti-​dive bar. Some may even say it’s somewhat corporate looking so if that turns you off avoid but IMO I think the wings are well worth the trip, even if you gotta get them to go!

Came here for a late lunch and the service was horrible… waited 40 minutes to get wings and a salad and had to chase down my waitress a few times… beer was warm along with the salad while my wings were cold… don’t sit outside on beautiful days I suppose because you get ignored… very dissapointed…

Part of me wants to give this place five stars due to the appropriateness of the name alone. This place is designed for – and inhabited by – average Joes.
Food is bar food but better than I expected. The chicken sliders were actually fairly delicious.
The draft beer selection is not so impressive, but what it lacks in variety it makes up for in price. Two dollar giant coors lites on weekends. I dislike Coors Lite, a lot, but for $ 2 I’ll take it.
There are also pool tabes, a couple of arcade games, and Keno. Keno! I used to think that Keno was reserved for retired old people with nothing else to do, but it’s actually quite entertaining.
Oh, and a great patio!

I’m not sure what melannie is talking about but Average joes is an awesome place. Whether your going to grab a quick coldie after work, or pre-​gaming before hitting the town, Ave Joes is a cool spot right around the Polaris area. Very nice staff. Patio is AWESOME. Great to watch sporting events as well. Their food isn’t too bad. I recommend the BBQ chicken pizza.

Okay, see, the thing about townie bars is that they need to evolve organically. Average Joe’s is… concocted to be «average.» I certainly enjoyed the company I was with, but other than that… not so much. My friend wanted to take me here, and I love her, but it wasn’t my type of place. Let me explain.
The inside of Average Joe’s is supposed to look like your local bar or pub, but it’s clearly contrived. For example, the brickwork is fake, and there is Keno flashing everywhere. I’ve really only seen this type of thing in A. suburban areas (which Polaris is) and/​or B. tourist areas (which Polaris may or may not be?). There were a great number of d-​bag chachis hanging out here, you know the type, loud and obnoxious but probably not *wasted,* just trying to show off (NOT townies, I stress this because I believe townie is the affect Average Joe’s strives for and yet fails to achieve) — you know the guys, the ones everyone in the office kind of shrinks back from when they walk by? (i believe the Offspring wrote a song about this in the late 1990s, and forgive me because I hate quoting lame bands, but touché — the patrons here remind me of «Pretty Fly for a White Guy»). The cougar women who think they’re hot stuff but really Average Joe’s is their last resort? Yeah, those people. Yich.
The food was not really up to par here, either. My friend really enjoyed her wings, and it’s not that I dislike bar food (clearly, if you read my reviews, I’m qualified to review bar food…), it’s just that… well, I was REALLY hungry because all I ate all day was a sushi roll, and I went out on a limb and ordered a burger, and was sad sad sad with the results. I *made sure* to ask if they would make my burger rare, because I only eat rare meat, and the waitress insisted that this was possible. It was, however, not possible. My burger was medium at best. It was supposed to be BBQ, but wasn’t at all. I think Mackey D’s might be better. The fries were good, but nothing to write home to mum about. I’m just glad I didn’t eat anything else all day, or I’d be some pist at all those wasted calories. Blah.
So, lacking in atmosphere that personally pleases my senses + yuck food = no. Nice try, Average Joe’s, but I’ll stick with Johnny’s and O’Reilly’s for my pub fix.
