I’ve never actually been inside the store, only had the food delivered so I can only speak to the quality of the food. While it is a bit pricey for what you get, the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Naan are both really really good. It comes with rice and you can select how much heat you would like for the Tikka Masala. I’ve found that 5 is a good starting point if you generally enjoy spicy food. Pretty good Indian food, just wish the price was a bit lower or you got more chicken with the Tikka Masala.

The lunch buffet is fantastic, best in town. Lots of variety, and it’s not the same dishes day in and day out, so you get to try new things. Several vegetarian options. Always plenty of food — never looks picked over. You can also order off the menu at lunch, which is a huge plus if you are dining with someone who isn’t a buffet fan or if the buffet offerings of the day aren’t your cup of tea. The service has always been solid and the restaurant is clean. Really can’t ask for more.

Waitress was extremely rude. Consistently interrupted us, had a terrible attitude and seemed as if she did not want to be there. Retorted answers, talked back, spoke matter of factly, handed over food and beverage aggressively. Very disappointing as the food is delicious, but the experience with the waitress was disappointing and significant enough to sway the opinion of our party that we had an overall negative experience. We’d definitely consider returning, as one of the male wait staff really seemed to care and was very helpful. I hate to leave a bomb of a review but it really was a disappointing experience.

My pals and I are regulars here because this food is ADDICTIVE. It must be a well kept secret because it is never very busy — which we don’t mind at all! The atmosphere is peaceful and quiet, the service is friendly and quick to refill waters and clear away empty dishes, and the food… oh… the food. This is a place you will willingly eat yourself to bloated, full-to-the-nose misery because every bite is like a little taste of nirvana. The tikka masala is the star of the show, the saffron rice pudding is delightful and converted me fully(I didn’t like it before coming here), and if you go to the buffet on the weekend, the mango custard is indescribably delicious. The tandoori chicken is another dish you must try. You really can’t go wrong here. Your first time, you should definitely try the lunch buffet. Try some of EVERYTHING. Then memorize your favorite parts and come back for dinner so you know what to order:)

My first visit to India’s Kitchen in about five years. I lived in Columbia for twelve years and I used to eat at this place almost every Saturday for lunch and it was the balls! I went here with my daughter and we both had the lunch buffet. The selections were not as numerous as they were when I frequented the place and most of them contained meat. I had the navraton korma, the chicken curry, and chicken biryani. There was no aloo gobi or palaak paneer or malai kofta. The food was okay, but it was pretty mild. Our hostess was unfriendly and the décor really needs an update.

The quality of the food is four stars, but the service is two stars and that’s being generous, so it averages to three. I had a ground meat shish kebab and my wife had the lamb in tikki masala. Her lamb was tender and tikki masala was second to none. Absolutely the best I ever had. My shish kebab was very good – that of it that there was. Therein is the first issue. The portions are barely adequate. I’m not expecting McDonald’s super sized value meals, but I doubt there was more than a few ounces of meat on the plate. No veggies except for some raw onions. Claire’s lamb was similarly sized. Maybe 3 ounces in about a cup of sauce. We shared what appeared to be a one cup helping of rice and that was it, for two full entrees. Service was slow and disjointed. Claire’s food arrived about five minutes before mine. Just a pet peeve of mine, but not managing to bring out both dinners at the same time when there are only a half dozen people in the place speaks of very poor kitchen control. Since the food was quite good, I imagine we’ll give it another try. I hope they make a few changes and start to live up to their potential.

Best food in Columbia If not the world… Everything cooked to perfection and a real bargain if you come for the lunch buffet. You absolutely have to try this food it will be one of the best decisions you’ve ever made. OK.

The food quality really does depend on what you order and what time of the day. I’ve been her a couple of times and usually the lunch buffet is a good deal. However, the food is usually a lot more watered down anx has less flavor than if you were to order take out with individual portions. I always love saab and tikki masala and I prefer to order it take out from here rather than in the buffet because it tastes 10x better. Take out and dinner is usually a bit too pricey for me but I have liked everything I’ve ordered from here so far. If only the buffet was a bit better tasting I would be here all the time for lunch.

Ok so me and my girlfriend went there to have a dinner tonite and it was the worst indian food ever! The servers were ok but the lady who looked like the owner was very rude and spoke very little english. I ordered lamb korma and said ‘spicy’. When we tasted the food it felt like hot burning lavas!!! My girlfriend went all red after just a few bites and when I complained about it, they said it was the spiciest level they had and we could have ordered a mild spicy! Well it would be nice to tell that when you take orders rather than after nearly burning my girlfriend alive. Then came the worst tandoori! I am an asian and have had lots of tandoori in life. This was the worst! It looked like they just painted red outside boiled chicken! I could tell that they never used a ta ndoor to cook that. Overall, this indian restaurant was the worst I have been to in my 2.5 years in the U.S. NEVERGO!

This place was great! The staff was so kind, service was personable and fast, and the food was flavorful and authentic. Another perk was the reasonable pricing. I couldn’t ask for a better experience.

I always come back to India’s House. Feels like home every time I walk through that small doorway leading to the very simple, not the best decorated, but comfortable dining room. This is quickly forgotten when you take your first bite. Priced reasonably and made well. I could eat their mint and tamarind chutney by the spoonful– they do sell jars of it upon request! Definitely worth a trip when looking for consistently delicious Indian in Columbia. Don’t think twice about heading down the street to Taj Mahal. For those who truly love food, the fancy and more updated décor should not distract you from where the quality is.

This place is less than average. Definitely not the best Indian food in Columbia. We tried chicken makhani and chicken karhai. Chicken makhhani was simply tasteless and the karhai was average. It’s too expensive for the quantity and quality of the food. I would not go back again.

This is NOT only the BEST Indian food in Columbia, but the best I’ve had, ever! I’ve been to Indian spots in NY, Vegas, London, and LA and nothing compares! I eat here minimum once a week. The staffs also always friendly!

Best Indian restaurant in Columbia, Missouri! This exact restaurant was where I was first introduced to Indian Food. For my 21st birthday back in 2006. Traveled down all the way from Lincoln, Nebraska to visit my sister who was getting her major at The University of Missouri in Columbia, who has been here many times. Since then, I have looked for Indian restaurants and dined in for either the buffets or non-buffets. Thank you to my sister for introducing me to Indian Food, and thank you to the owners of India’s House for their good food on the buffet.

Extraordinary Indian food! I live in Los Angeles, which has high standards for Indian food. I wasn’t expecting much from this place considering how small of a town this is. Every single dish we had and all the desserts were surprisingly delicious and authentic. Next time I visit I’ll definitely return. The service was wonderful too!

The service here was stellar, our waiter was extremely friendly and prompt. I thought the food was delicious and came out in a timely manner. Good chicken curry, naan and really everything I tried was delicious. Will definitely go back.

I absolutely loved the mint and tamarind chutney. BUT, I am used to dishes that are less cream-based. I got the vegetarian special, which came with chickpeas, spinach with paneer(cheese), vegetable korma, naan, rice pudding, and tea. Both the paneer and vegetable korma felt very heavy. While they were flavorful, they could’ve been more so. I loved the chickpeas though! The rice pudding was a little chewy for me.

I went for dinner — not the buffet, so I cannot speak to it. Nonetheless, I am puzzled by a number of the reviews. First of all, while the dishes were mild(per our request), the flavors in the food were strong, with subtle spices. The folks in the kitchen know how to cook, and do not cover up their goofs with mass quantities of curry Second, the menu is rather unique. I have never seen spinach stuffed paratha bed before. It was excellent.(The nan bread was good as well.) The rice is spiced with cardamon — excellent. The three dishes we all had were very good. I would go again. Easily. And congratulations to the owners for producing such a high quality of product in a spot where I imagine it can be hard to get authentic ingredients.

The interior looked old and a bit dirty. The food was limited and sub par. Mango lassis and chai tea were not included in the lunch buffet. It was super expensive($ 9.17 including tax for a weekday, lunch buffet) and they opened late. I was there at 11AM(opening time) and they didn’t unlock the door until 11:08. Also, while I was eating, the woman manning the place sprayed air freshener! It kind of ruined my lunch since I could only smell the cheap flower smell. Furthermore, their water left a bad taste in my mouth. These are the dishes that I can remember them having for the lunch buffet. The names are not accurate since I can’t remember the exact names. –chicken in curry(I don’t think it was all white meat chicken. May have had some dark meat.) –tandoori chicken –vegetables in curry –vegetable pakora –plain naan(no garlic naan) –beef in curry –blended spinach –seasoned potatoes –gulab jamun –yogurt sauce –mint sauce –rice pudding I would not recommend this place, simply because for the quality of my experience, it was waaaaay too expensive. I might go there again if they miraculously change their price to $ 4, because that’s all it was worth.
