I had such an amazing experience with Buchroeder’s! Before this time that I purchased jewelry, I had only been to Buchroeder’s once, with a friend who was shopping and I had felt intimidated by all the beautiful stock since I wasn’t the one who was shopping, but this second time I visited the store was so different. My fiancé and I were browsing around the front display cases when one of the jewelry consultants, Sara S. came up and greeted us. Sara was so warm and genuine and had such a bright smile and she immediately made an effort to get to know me, rather than to get to know what my price range was. I didn’t feel any pressure to buy, Sara just made me feel comfortable and made an effort to get to know my style. She showed me some gorgeous Sapphire rings(exactly what I asked for) and then when they weren’t quite right, but she could tell they were getting closer to my style, she took me to a case with diamond ring settings and pulled one out that she seemingly pulled from my brain! She seemed to have understood my style from our short 20 minutes together and found the perfect one for me. It didn’t have a Sapphire set into it yet, but she showed me how it could be customized to be exactly what I wanted. She assured me every single step of the way that she would not let me get this ring unless I absolutely loved it. She prepared an estimate of the price for me with genuine and lab-created Sapphires as soon as I asked for it, and gave me an estimation of how long everything would take to arrive and set and size if we ordered it, but Sara never put any pressure on us to order that day. She made herself available by email and text and phone and she kept in excellent contact with me about the ring in the following days, sharing pictures with me(I was so entranced with it, I forgot to take a single photo while I was there!) and answered all of my questions. She was so patient. I probably emailed her back and forth 10 times in 4 days. She gave me her honest opinion and assessment of the quality and value and my fiancé and I were back in there 4 days later to purchase the ring. Over the course of the 4 days of emailing, I asked her to order the Sapphires and they literally took less than 1DAY to arrive. On the day that we came in to purchase the ring, they showed us the Sapphires and the setting again and confirmed all the pricing with tax. This time, my fiancé had brought in his mother’s engagement ring(with her blessing) to see if trading it in toward part of the purchase price was an option. The owner himself, Mills, came out to speak with us and explained the process of how depending on the style of a ring it might be worth a certain amount altogether, whereas other rings might be just worth the value of the gold and diamond(s) they are made from. Mills carefully took the time to look over our ring and was able to give us the value of part of the ring toward our new purchase(and gave us back the diamond we decided not to sell), which we really appreciated and did not expect since it was an older ring and not in the current style. Sara and Mills also took care to explain the financing options to us. They were so thorough about it, they were still explaining things to us after the store closed and they other consultants were putting the jewels around us in the safe for the night! It was such an amazing feeling to have so much attention and care paid to us! After purchasing they estimated the ring would take only 2 days to set and be polished and ready to be picked up(which is so fast as it is) but it was again only 1 day later and I had my amazing engagement ring on my finger! My fiancé had to pick up the ring the next day while I was at work, so I wasn’t there, and apparently Sara wasn’t working that day either, so she texted me the next afternoon to congratulate me on my ring and say that she wished she had been there to see me get it in person and to check that it fit just perfectly. That extra attention is really what makes such a difference in this local business and what I would recommend so much about Buchroeder’s. My fiancé and I made sure to go back a few days later to purchase their insurance plan,(Sara had left a pamphlet for us with the ring box) because it is an excellent deal with no deductible(!) and offers full repair or replacement for mysterious loss(which is basically my biggest nightmare now). My fiancé and I are now in the process of working with Sara to order HIS wedding ring and I absolutely LOVE working with her. She has been emailing us additional info about what metals he can choose from and pricing and she is just so thorough. Sara S. is the ideal jewelry consultant(as I am sure everyone is at Buchroeder’s) and it seems everyone there is willing to go the extra mile(or 7 or 8!) to make your experience perfect. I just wish I could afford more jewels so I could shop there more!

The staff at Buchroeders are not only helpful, but also extremely knowledgeable. We ended up buying my fiancé’s engagement ring and both of our wedding bands here. My mother-in-law got her engagement ring here and raved about the place. We were in town for the holidays and since it has been ages since I last got my ring cleaned I decided to drop in the day after Christmas. They greeted me as I walked in the door, cleaned the ring in less then five minutes and I was on my way. They didn’t even charge me for it! My ring looks like new and I got some ideas for my next diamond purchase :)

I met my girlfriend while attending Mizzou back in 2004 and after graduation, we left MO, but travel back frequently. During our time in Columbia, I think we both maybe set foot in this store once and it was a ‘meh’ experience. I want to say that we are VERYHAPPY that we decided to stop into Buchroeder’s during our last visit to Columbia! We purchased wedding/engagement rings from Buchroeder’s and we were extremely impressed with the level of service we received! We worked with Sicily, who was very laid back, yet professional and didn’t mind at all that we popped back in the store several times, brought friends and emailed her with questions. As a gay couple, it was awesome to walk into the store and feel completely at ease — no one acted like it was out of place for two women to be shopping for rings together. We were able to have our rings shipped to us since we live out of state, which was also a nice convenience. Overall, extremely pleased with the products and services of Buchroeder’s and staff — thank you for a pleasant experience!

I’m going to admit that I did NOT want to go here. In fact, we shopped every other jewelry store in town for my engagement ring, didn’t find anything awesome, and our next step was to go to St. Louis. Because this store is downtown and looks pretty classy from the outside, I assumed that we’d be snubbed and treated like we were unimportant because we weren’t spending truckloads of cash. My mistake. We couldn’t have been more welcomed, or felt more like valued customers. We found the perfect ring, and the staff spent ages with us helping us select the perfect diamond. In the end, we spent a bit more on the setting than we would have at a chain store, BUT I am infinitely more happy with it as it certainly isn’t cookie-cutter. The diamond prices are good, and in the end we stayed within our budget and yet got something I’ll love forever. I really can’t say enough about how kind and helpful the staff were as we selected my ring, and then our wedding rings. I would definitely do business there again and recommend this store to others seeking a very personalized experience.

My home was burglarized. Jewelry was stolen. Buchroder’s was able to locate receipts from 1997, that included the price and a detailed description. Insurance companies as for the details, like price, description, purchase date. Buchroder’s my 1997 receipt. Plus, they were cheerful when agreeing to mail the information. Great company! They treat customers very well. I am not in a position to buy lots of jewelry, and they were still very helpful.

I met a young man in Columbia. I thought he was everything. He took me out to Buchroeder’s And told me to pick out a ring. But the marriage, it didn’t last, And when all was said and done I thought I’d return my diamond To help pay my lawyer’s sum. So I looked up Buchroeder’s number And gave them a pleasant little call. But the sales guy who sold us the damn thing Said, «We don’t deal diamonds that small.» When I asked what he thought I should do The sales guy said he would try eBay. So I looked up diamond rings there And discovered my ex overpaid. So I’m stuck with something pretty That I’d still prefer not to wear. If you’re looking for diamond jewelry I guess you still could go there. Just know when you give them your money To be sure you’d like nothing else better Because what they say is true: A diamond, alas, is forever.

I bought a Martin Flyer engagement ring from Buchroeder’s and was impressed with the experience. The staff members were professional and knowledgable — but more important to me personally, they used gender-neutral pronouns and didn’t seem to care at all that my fiancée and I are both women. I got a nice deal on the ring but still spent a great deal of money. I would have taken my business elsewhere if the staff had acted any differently. I’m impressed with the product –and the service. I recommend Buchroeder’s to all of my Columbia friends.

I’ve been in Buchroeder’s several times. I think it serves to note that the store lost its license, endorsement, whatever you want to call it, to sell Rolex. They sell used Rolex, but Rolex will not allow them to carry new pieces. About half the times I’ve gone in here, I’ve gotten ignored — even if there were no or limited customers. The owner has a definite attitude issue.. . he seems to believe he’s Neil Lane or Philip Press. He’s not. My ex bought me a pair of diamond earrings here about 12 years ago. They’re beautiful and I still have them. I’ve also bought my mother a beautiful saphire and diamond pendant here. The service was decent, but when I walk, point to what I want, and give you an $ 1,800 cash sale all within 5 minutes, I kind of expect it to be. Call me old fashioned, call me crazy, but I deserve good service whether I’m spending $ 50 or $ 20,000.
